Visible in Central Virginia for the first time for me. Have seen some local pics that were impressive, but I couldn't get a photograph. Subtle/muted tones, took a while to fully see the colors and waves, but 100% we were looking at them.
Posted in a different thread, but here in Florida it was barely noticeable to the naked eye. Low in the sky was a very minor dark purple tint, but tbh I wouldn't have noticed it if not looking for it. Regular camera didn't show anything but night mode showed this. Again, it looked nothing like this irl.
I tried with the phone, too. We have a lot of trees, and my downhill view has a lot of light pollution.
Bham city light pollution spoiled it. People in Trussville 20 mins away had a full view. My friend’s dad saw them in Orange Beach
Did you try night mode on your phone? This is the same picture, one with normal camera and one with night mode on. I just don't want you thinking you missed this great event based on pictures people took locally. You can see the top of the umbrella in both pics at the bottom. It was pitch black outside. It looked nothing like the bottom picture.
Yea I was playing ps5 about 11pm and my wife sent me a similar picture and I knew that was our backyard and I was like wtf. I walked outside, saw a black sky, and was like wtf did I miss? She laughed and showed me how she got the picture.
Yeah I'm realizing I should have manually set the exposure on my new dji camera on the the timelapse video setting, probably missed a whole bunch.
Spoiler my wife could see with naked eye, me and my son couldn’t see shit. Something about rods and cones. I could clearly see thru camera
Same in Loveland Ohio, NE Cincy suburbs, literally people 15 miles away posting pictures but no one near us saw it. We also have no filter light facing north because a state/national scenic river watershed has no development. Oddest thing, everyone within 5 miles of me posting today that they didn’t see it.
Idk how my wife and I forgot about this last night. She was very upset, as it’s one of her bucket list things. really hoping we can get a glimpse tonight, near Columbus Ohio.
I guess you've read the thread, but using night mode on iphone helps a lot. Or lengthen the exposure time on android.
Yeah I saw people saying it kind of looked like smoke/clouds to the naked eye, but phone can capture it. I've been taking pics of the sky with my iPhone 15 Pro Max #ad
