It’s ok to be wrong dblplay1212 . I admitted it before, now it’s your turn
you will outlast me, I am almost sleeping on the couch
I mean yeah he kind of has been. Every metric and stat out there backs that up. Best in the country in completion percentage, yards per game, yards per pass, QB rating...basically everything. His QB rating is 220 through 4 games. Lawrence is at 180(albeit that is for 4 games and doesn't account for tonight so I'm sure it will go up". To put the 220 into perspective Joe Burrow's last year was 200. He's been extremely good. Do I think Jones is better than Lawrence or will have a better career? Absolutely not but that's not the discussion here. We're just trying to help you guys understand that Mac is putting up ridiculous numbers and if he sustains it will be in New York
Trevor Lawrence? You know you keep telling DBL to "stop moving the goal posts" while simultaneously doing it. It's weird. You said that Lawrence has been "SO MUCH BETTER". That just isn't true so I let you know that it wasn't true
i said I did it, you guys are fucking weird
They were not kidding when they said bama fans were sensitive
Look, as one of the resident Champs that was waiting for Jones to misstep for the Young era to start and has been swallowing large quantities of crow now for 4 weeks, if your take is "Lawrence is so much better than Mac Jones this year", you just aren't paying attention and are basing what you're saying on previous hype/talent from other seasons. Jones just dropped 417 yards with a 219 QBR against the best defense in the country, and probably the best defense we have played since Tua took over if not before. Put some respect on his name, he has come out this season Burrow-esque, which I admittedly never would have believed unless I saw it for myself.
I think Clemson has better corners than us by a mile. They should put up more of a fight. Who's knows.
They definitely have a far superior QB which will go a long way
Unless the defense starts forcing turnovers and getting to the qb, I'm not confident in any championship outside of the SEC.
But our offense absolutely has the ability to force any other team to need to play perfect to beat us. Our talent is ridiculous, Mac is trying to win the Heisman we were hyping Najee for preseason, and Sark is a man on fire dialing up plays.
I guess maybe we'll play again in December. That's if Bennett doesn't cost us a game along the way but we're never going to beat an elite team with an elite offense with terrible qb play. We had no fucking shot last night
I enjoyed it
Whats the deal with Daniels? Whats it gonna take for him to get another shot? I haven't watched much of him so idk if he's the answer but the short kid ain't it.
That's the million dollar question. No one knows. Guess he's still having trouble with confidence in his knee???
better than Campbell and stokes? I doubt that. If you are comparing how they’d perform vs Smith/Waddle I’m sure their guys would get torched too
thought it wasn’t about performance and just was about him getting medically cleared to play
He's cleared but hasn't even gotten garbage time reps. No one seems to know what's going on
Without a massive, massive turnaround by the D, Clemson would put up points on nearly every drive vs Bama. Right now, I legit think they win by 3+ scores and the outcome is basically never in doubt.
*dreams about having a pass rush*
Ah i thought kirby saying he was available before AU was just gamesmanship since we never saw him
I just see no way Kirby trots that kid out against us in a rd 2. If he did, that'd be some 2011 Les Miles decision-making
We can't close on the pass rush, though. 2nd half was a totally different looking defense than the past few weeks. Very strange
I don't think he has much choice. But he built the roster and in year 5 we still don't have a competent qb on the roster
Joking aside, I agree with this and am perplexed by it. Obviously, Kirby knows how to coach defense, and the talent Georgia has recruited at DB is elite at least on paper comparable to what Clemson has. But Clemson's DBs seem more dominant.
Are we really comparing Clemson’s CB’s from what they’ve done vs WF, the citadel, UVA, Miami and GT compared to what UGA went up against last night?
I think the one kid is a consensus first rounder and the other is a young 5 star. I realize TC was a big time recruit as well but he hasn't been lock down.
We were in year 7 or 8(of Saban) before we got an elite QB, assuming we consider Jalen Hurts elite.
Our DBs are fine imo. Bama is going to do that to everyone's secondary. On one of TDs last night Stokes was in phase and had his hands inside the body of Smith but Smith still caught it for a TD.
Also seemed to coincide with saban completely changing his coaching philosophy for the position. He was all about a suffocating defense/heavy run game with a game manager at QB before that
I legit can't tell if this is about our corners or not. Surtain is likely a first rounder, Jobe is playing pretty well, and Malachi Moore is a young (5?) star playing one of our most important defensive positions and doing great.
Corners are the only bright spot so far in defense this season. Everything up the middle is trash.
He's talking about our CBs
Well the parallels are there then.
And thats where our similarities on defense stop.
So my question, and as I realized midway through the third we were not coming away with the win, who else does Bama have besides Waddle, Smith and Najee? I know Metchie has come on but I was just fantasizing when we play yall again in the SECCG, if one or two of them are banged up, what does your offense look like? Robinson looked hit or miss like Zeus.
Our defensive depth is solid but those three guys still torched whomever we put out there.
And whichever CB(think it was TS) was running with Waddle on that long TD seemed to be right there with him before he tripped over his feet which seems more like shit luck than a talent issue
atleast that’s how I remembered it live I didn’t see the replay
I actually think Campbell got burned there and him falling down probably didn't matter. Their WRs crossed and he was a step behind. Well drawn up play that I'm not sure Campbell could have done anything about
BRob has been up and down this year, which is an improvement on last year when he was straight doodoo. Our run blocking didn't start so hot this year but they're getting better as the year goes on. Our TEs are still mostly butt. I'd love to see more Billingsley there as a receiver because he's shown real flashes, but Saban values the ability to block there a lot and Foristall has shown toughness out there. After those receivers, its a lot of talent that hasn't shown much. Slade Bolden came in for a play or two last night, he's our white slot receiver who last year we had some awful wildcat plays for. Everyone else has barely seen the field.
I think he would have been in position to try and make a shoestring tackle but its tough to say.
Yeah if you give Waddle a step, which we did when Stevenson passed off responsibility to Campbell, I mean Campbell isn't going to make that up. He doesn't run a 4.1
Yeah not sure about that. We’ve recruited really well at CB
It’s kind of what we do in here
Bama is going to torch some defenses regardless of CB talent sO maybe the difference is only marginal. I didn’t think UGA hit Jones enough Sucks for UGA fans Kirby has completely fucked the QB position.
We hit Jones pretty consistently. Bama is just really good on offense.
Most pressure he's faced since the IB last year certainly.
We leveled Mac quite a few times. He got happy feet for a while, but we couldn't keep it up with Hervé Villechaize IV throwing it either to Bama's DBs or to the DL's knee caps.
Georgia won this one but Bama will win round 2 in Atlanta.
Wait Bama won
Dean demolishing Mac when Forristall didn’t turn around hurt me for so many reasons.
That was one hit I was surprised he got up from. I was concerned he got hurt on that one.
Ill trade you Dean for Moses right now straight up.
