Agree with this. After what Bama has shown during he last 5-6 years, I’m a firm believer that in this era, there are a handful of offenses In CFB every year that just can’t be stopped. Usually they have a Heisman/1st round pick QB. The Watson Clemson teams, current Clemson teams, 2019 LSU, maybe an Ohio state team or two and maybe this year’s Alabama O come to mind. Your only way to beat them is a few key stops or a turnover or two, then scoring 40+ yourselves. You don’t beat them 28-25 in big games, ever. Expecting or being mad your D couldn’t hold them under 30 is just unrealistic now. Kirby gets that I think and knows his current QB is unlikely to keep up in a 45-42 type game, same way Saban knows his current DC isn’t capable of putting out a classic Bama D in any sense of the word.
Would Newman have opted out if Daniels wasn't brought in too? I just always sort of assumed the two were related.
I do think it could’ve been closer to that type of game with a real QB for us. 3 INTs against your offense is a recipe for a real bad time. If we could’ve played keep away a little better and churned out first downs instead of turning it over and having drives stalled due to batted balls, I wonder what we could’ve held you to.
It’s not a given that we would’ve kept the points any lower, candidly. If Bama ever needs points, they can score in a hurry.
I have a hard time believing that Newman left because of Daniels who hasn’t even taken a snap yet. I think Newman got got by an agent.
If you told me Bennett would be 18-40 with 3 INTs before the game, I would have told you we'd lose and lose by a lot. Can't beat elite teams with that type of qb play. That's atrocious
I remember sitting in Tiger Stadium watching Jake Fromm suck a bag of dicks and all I could think is, when you have a Tahoe that gets you to work everyday its great but when you have a Lamborghini in the garage sometimes you need to take it out for a spin. I said Justin Fields is going to transfer and then we're going to miss out from strong QB play that keeps us away from a natty.
TL:DR I'm fucking nostradamus
To be fair to Kirby, the overwhelming majority of UGA fans wanted to keep playing Fromm over Fields, and believed that Fields couldn’t/didn’t beat out Fromm in a fair competition.
To be fair to the rest of the UGA fan base, they don’t get paid millions of dollars to make that decision.
Does Carson Beck suck? Why are we not hearing his name at all?
i wonder why
