Anderson and Harris seem to be in the backfield a ton but like you said, they just can't close the deal.
Going back to last year they've given up 31 to Ole Miss, 28 to aggie, 46 to LSU, 48 to AU, 24 to aggie and 48 to Ole Miss. Can't get to any advanced stats on my work laptop but im sure they are horrible. Owsley or southlick can probably recite them from memory though.
My guess is that Bama scores ~21 in the first half. Game will come down to how much we can clamp down in the second half. If we can stay within 2 scores AND clamp down in the second half, we have a chance. No idea if we will.
I’d still take Stetson Bennett over Jake Fromm this year, but I’m probably being a dipshit about that.
He throws well over the middle. We have done a good job between Kearis, TEs, and RBs of hitting plays between the hashes.
They’re opposites in how they see the field. Fromm worked mostly outside the hashes on outs and back shoulders, and Bennett is solid over the middle and when the play breaks down. The bonus, is the that Bennett actually has the ability to get first downs here and there, with his feet.
Yea Corral worked the shit out of yall faking intermediate throws to the sideline then slinging towards Yeboah or whomever up the middle. Question is if we have a QB who can stare off your defense and manipulate the safeties. Stetson did not do that against Tennessee. He almost got Mcintosh killed on a route up the seam. Could be an INT opportunity there. But Mckitty's first game was very promising. And we need Pickens to not be a lazy asshole and actually pose a threat on the perimeter. I still have no clue what your rush defense was doing. But I dont expect that Saturday.
Either UGA is going to stomp their ass or it'll be 2018 OSU-UM and Charlie Brown will pull the football away again.
Everyone's gonna hype Georgia defense all week but football has changed and great offenses beat great defenses. Can Georgia force Bama to grind out drives to score and prevent big plays? As good as the d has been they've been susceptible to long TDs through the air going back to last year and we know how good Bama is at just that.
I don't think there will be much grinding. Either we may big plays in with our pass rush or they make big plays down field.
I’d be shocked if UGA didn’t come after Mac early and often. He tends to panic and throw pick 6s under pressure. If he has all day to pass, the offense should have a great day
I am glad that we led the charge on installing LED lights in the stadium. Thankfully our guys won’t be thrown off by the second best light show in the country.
He ran one up the middle and dove head first for the 1st down. I think that was this past week, but maybe A&M. He's not gonna have many, if any, designed runs, but he'll take it if that's all that's there.
One of our best writers said it in a video and I guess I never thought about but as few times as we play, there have been a lot of those games that weren't decided until the last play. 2018, 2017, 2012, 2007, 2002 and some in the 90s. Like more than half the games we've played in the last 20-30 years. Kinda nuts
The 2002 game (Billy Bennett game winning field goal) was undoubtedly the hottest sporting event I’ve ever attended.
Stephenson or Dean will be locked in on Najee. When not manned up on Najee, Stephenson will need to be in zone. He doesn't have the footspeed to match up with Bama's WRs.
I think Bammer will win, but the only thing I’d be actually pissed about is if it wasn’t a game in the 4th quarter. If they’re up 2 scores with 5+ to play, that will blow ass. Hard to think we’ll win the game in Tuscaloosa with Stetson Abercrombie XI. Would become a legend if he did, though.
There was a South Carolina game in Columbia I went to that I swear was played on the surface of the sun. Expecting a similar result this weekend. We lost that game too.
If y’all had a true downhill runner who could punish our defense and control the flow of the game, I’d feel very bad about our chances. Unfortunately Zeus just isn’t that guy any more. I also think y’all’s OL has been a bit underwhelming run blocking, but I could be totally off there.
You are not. Very inconsistent, even within games. I think Monken has tried to adjust midgame but not enough to my liking. We have fixed the Right Tackle issues. Other is Trey Hill gets in over his head with snap issues then over consumed when DTs line up right over him. Obviously need the good version to show up.
Yeah our OL has been average. Replacing 4 starters and the really high ceiling guys we have aren't ready yet.
McClendon has exceed my expectations. He's solid in pass blocking and serviceable in run blocking. Condon is a disaster. Is McClendon cleared? I know he got hurt in the UT game.
I think this is the worst rb group we've had in maybe fen years. I haven't gone back to fact check that but we've been pretty spoiled.
This is probably more of a discussion for the team board, but depending on how you feel about Isaiah Crowell and Washaun Ealey, this could be our worst group of backs since the 90s.
Zamir White had the two injures and hasn't really been the same. James cook was a 5 star that's never really lived up to the hype. Kendall Milton looks like he could be the real deal. Kenny McIntosh is good but doesn't appear to have game changing speed. We had the topish rb in the country committed the last two years and neither of them made it to campus. That plus Swift leaving early hurts. I'm not saying our guys are bad, we just had an unbelievable run of Gurley/Chubb/Sony/Swift.
We just don't really get the big chunk plays on the ground anymore. We have two rushes of 20 yards this year and one was by a WR. The other was a 20 yarder against Arkansas. Again, very spoiled by having years and years of guys that could take it to the house at any time.
