I'm guilty of skipping through 99% of cutscenes. I don't think I skipped a single cutscene in Ghost of Tsushima. I cried at a couple points in the story even.
This game lived up to the hype in every way imaginable. Game mechanics, graphics, voice acting....a joy to play.
Been awhile since I've been excited to get home so I could play, this game is doing that to me currently. I really wanna play Control and continue Cyberpunk, but I always end up with Ghosts.
Bought this game a few months ago when it first went on sale (Gamefly). Not sure why but just haven't been in gaming mood last few months and took me about a month to get through first few hours. Now I'm about 15 hours in since last week and really excited to play every night. None of the side missions feel tedious or boring, though I know, like any open world game, that'll probably change as I get more hours into it. I'm about to really start plowing through the main story, and can't really find much to complain about - the setting, combat and story are spectacular.
I’d clear out everything on the map before moving to the next act. I didn’t do it for act 1 and had to go back and do it but after that I made sure to clear out everything I had available before moving on. You get so much stuff for all of it it’s worth it.
Question about this. Does that mean completing all the side stories or liberating all territories before going to Castle Kaneda? I've completed a good number of side quests, but also have a lot of the map still not opened up. I'm ready to continue with story and don't want this to be like RDR2 where I get fatigued by all the side missions early on a skip most of them during the mid and late parts of the game.
It’s really up to you. I would just because there’s not a terrible amount of them compared to other games I’ve played and they all help level your character up. I didn’t liberate all the territories. I went back I after I finished the game and made the effort to clear up the map and show a ton of stuff. None of it really takes that long which is a reason I enjoyed the game so much. I’d do all the hot springs, poems, shrines and foxes for sure though.
I did everything before moving on, but you'll be going back to the beginning areas occasionally when you're in later parts of the game so it really doesn't matter.
FWIW, I didn't know this when I started playing and was clearing the map, but once you finish Act 1 it clears the "fog of war" from the entire first section of the map. So you'll be able to see all the question marks that you missed along the way. I finished Act 1, did the bare minimum of Act 2 until I was given free reign again, and then I went back into the southernmost section (Act 1 area) and cleared up all the question marks. Then I just went back up to the central island area (Act 2) and worked my way through that.
When you guys finish, let me know if anyone gets in to the multiplayer. I still play that part occasionally.
I just watched SkillUp's top games of 2020 and I forgot Ghost of Tsushima was this year. It's tied with best game of all time with Skyrim for me. I played a bunch of really great games in 2020. Largely because of people on this board. Thanks to all for the suggestions.
We played it a ton when it first came out. But we pretty much beat everything there was. I wish they would add more.
They have new Legends stuff out as well as new chapter. I think they added 3 new stances and one for your horse to just mow through mongol camps. I know it’s getting a new legends mode as well. Read up on it but haven’t played it yet
Yes, beat it Iki Island in about 2-3 days, right around 10 hours I think. Some good quality of life updates and Iki is just more of the same from Tsushima. haven’t jumped into online since it first came out, but probably one of my favorite all time games.
Can you add your PS4 saves to the PS5 one now? I originally started before I got a PS5 and don’t want to get the new version with expansions and start all over again.
Tried to play the new dlc and wooooo buddy I have forgotten how to play the game. Gonna take me a minute to remember all the mechanics.
Does anyone have any introductory tips for this, things they wish they knew before they started playing?
I suck at recall, but just remember being hooked once I dug in on the game - fun gameplay and great story. Best advice is clear your calendar
It’s been awhile, but if I recall the learning curve is easy. Just take it all in and do all side quests, etc. should be good
I forget what they're called exactly, but there's some select side missions that reward new armor/abilities. Focus on all those as soon as they unlock. Think they're "storyteller missions" or something.
So this basically happened to me last night. First time playing, still on the introductory mission before I even get the map. Had to clear a village of the Mongolian hordes and kept dying because I couldn’t remember how to dodge the spear attacks and the big ass dudes. Once I figured that out, I was locked in.
This game is amazing. First time playing it. I’ve completed most missions. I’m in act 3 and only have the last part to go I believe. I have to plan the attack on the Khan. So I decided to go to Iki island not realizing it’s a story for after the main quest. Cooool.
Also I haven’t done any of the storyteller legend things because it always says something about are you sure? It will end the tale you are on right now. Something like that.
