It's a fantastic boss 1v1 weapon but lacks aoe like the axe or blades to handle multiple mobs, I'm using it as my main weapon in berserker grave battles and just using the axe as a runic spam swap weapon.
I just got it. Going to take some getting used to for sure. Plus I'm sure once I unlock more abilities for it that will make a difference.
It did feel nice for the specific boss fight but that was also by design. Those zerker gravestones are fucking me up.
Just mended some bridges in Vanaheim, I think I’m going to hit side quests for a while. The game is fun so far, really dig the story and the visuals are incredible, but I agree with the general consensus that combat and the weapons were more fun in the last one. Also for the record absolutely fuck the Hateful straight to the depths of Hel. Gods that thing sucks
The combat is literally exactly the same but with some new bells and whistles. It might be that you guys are comparing where you were fully leveled up to starting out new without all your gear and abilities.
The spear's R2 combo is faster than the axe and it can stun bosses, I default to using it in boss fights and just use axe and blade for runic cooldown spamming.
5AM - me waking up early to shower and play GOW:R 6:40AM - how the fuck is it almost 7am already? I just got started!
Man the different parent/child relationships and dealing with trauma shown from the Asgard bar to Sindri’s house is tugging at the heart strings.
So apparently I spent the last 11 hours of gameplay on attempts at the berserker grave with 2 bosses, finally got it down. I take back what I said about GMGoW difficulty seeming easier, the bosses are fucking fantastic.
Spear also making kill ravens a breeze vs the axe where you have to mentally calculate trajectory of those fuckers
Game is fantastic but wasn’t my game of the year until the new weapon. I haven’t had a moment in a game fill me with pure joy like the first time you get to use it in years probably makes this my game of the year over Elden Ring but it might be recent bias
The berserker grave boss in vanaheim where he summons 2 poison walkers and 2 nightmares every now and then can go fucking die in a fire. There's really no "improving" or technique involved, he does like 4 moves but the adds make it a shitshow.
Fighting the grandmother ME: “that’s a huge bitch!” 15 minutes later “every agony … every violation, imaginable!” ALSO ME:
Spoiler: Campaign ending brok’s death and sindri’s change was such an unexpected emotional impact. I had zero clue that tyr was odin.
Maybe I’ve over leveled because I spent time doing all the side stuff and hunting berserkers but a little disappointed with how easy it was to kill Spoiler Heimdall
the story bosses are all easy compared to the optional ones, hell all the story bosses have midfight checkpoints. also I've upgraded spear to lvl 8 now and maxed out light and heavy runic attacks, its turned into my default weapon over the axe.
Just finished the story at 84 hours of play. I don't know how they managed to top the story of 2018 but the last act is a masterpiece. Game of the Year, easily.
Just found the secret plains region of Spoiler Vanaheim damn I thought I was getting to the end this game is so much bigger than I expected
King Hrolf is fucking me up but I think I was wearing the wrong armor. Using the armor that makes you take extra damage after using a runic attack.
Haven't done all the post game stuff yet but did everything that was available to me. Just beat the Berserker King on GMGoW difficulty, took about 4 hours, not nearly as hard as Sigrun was. (Sigrun I think took me like...30 hours to beat first time on GMGoW)
Why is it so engaging just riding around doing side missions? Hey, what’s that area over there? Loses track of time
In a vaccum probably on par with Sigrun, but Ragnarok gives you way more OP builds and abilities compared to 2018, took no more than 3-4 hours to get her down using the poison build.
