I'm going Hadwin in my one and done i think. I had Donald pre-season but he's just too damn out of form.
It's amazing how Luke is invisible all year until Hilton Head every year. His record there is incredible
was at streamsong in florida last week. it is legit. played all 3 courses. more 3 putts than i've ever had in my life even with caddies reading the greens.
Which course did you like best? I was there back in October, i think, and the Black course had just opened. It was alright, but im not sure it had grown in all the way, and i didnt like the undefined fairways etc I liked the Red course the best. Great golfing destination, but not much else around. Unfortunately i played like shit while i was there, but hope to go back when i am playing better.
i liked the red course the best as well. and yep, you are definitely trapped while you are there. that part didn't bother me very much. after walking 18 holes and drinking during/after and then dinner, i was in bed every night by 10pm
22% went with Kisner, including myself, in my one and done league - followed by Kuchar at 17%. Those were 2 safe picks.
Jigga how much did Top Golf pay GC for this promo tv show Shotmakers? Just watched the episode from Tuesday and can't really get into just watching people play different Top Golf games.
No idea. I do wish it moved faster and there was less benefit to hitting the net. The LD guy is not a good golfer but is probably gonna win based on that
Bros. Question for you. Bought the new callaway UT iron about a week and a half ago - just picked it up this morning and noticed that on the top of the grip there is stamping that says “demo”. Picture below. Wondering if anyone has had this happen before, also wondering if it is common for club manufactures to ship out demo clubs / and or if y’all think the place that I bought the club from tossed a demo club in a box on me. There is also some weird scuffing on the clubhead which shouldn’t be there from being shipped around. Would appreciate any and all thoughts.
Who did you buy it new from? Golf courses buy "demo" clubs for fittings at generally 30-40% off of wholesale but they perfectly fine. If you got a great deal on it I assume this was how.
If you paid full boat I would be a little pissed. The club will perform just as well as new but they should give you a 20% discount or so on it.
My swing coach is a Callaway staff person so I gave her a call (yes I work with a woman on my Golf swing it shocks like 90% of people when I tell them this she really knows her shit) she called her callaway rep and the rep had a shit fit about the situation. 99% sure the place I bought the club from fucked me on this one.
Going to finally get fit for a new driver.. My search should probably start and stop with the rogue right?
Hit everything a couple months ago and my favorites were the M4 (which I now game) and the G400, the Ping I probably liked slightly better but it would've cost me more to put all the specs on it that I wanted.
Where did you go? I had one session with the PGA pro from my club (I couldn't hit a drive that day so it was a useless session), but all he brought was an epic and a srixon to try. Outside of the Golfsmith/Edwin Watts not sure where I can hit multiples. agreed.
someone got me a Club Champion fitting as a Christmas gift. If it wasn't a gift I probably would've tried to find an outdoor fitting somewhere else.
I went in to my fitting assuming I'd leave with a Rogue. I hit everything new out there and left with the G400 and am very happy with it. Basically don't go into it with your heart set
Alright, finally have some time to write something up... Spoiler Itinerary... - Stayed in St Andrews first three nights...Fairways of St Andrews B&B...easily the best in town. 30 yards from the Old Course 18th green and across the street from 1 Golf Place and the Dunvegan. The rooms are all modernly renovated so it feels like a hotel. For $80 per person per night, you can’t beat it. - Stayed in an Airbnb across the street from the North Berwick clubhouse for two nights. Cool little town, though not as lively as St Andrews - Stayed in Edinburgh the last night. Another Airbnb in town Golf... - Thursday - Old Course...won the ballot which was awesome. My buddy (he’s a 5 handicap that hits the ball a mile) eagle’d the Road Hole. Bunch of St Andrews students sitting outside The Jigger went absolutely bananas. Awesome moment - Friday - Kingsbarns...my buddies are really into scenic golf courses so they absolutely loved it. It’s a mix of a Scottish links course and Pebble Beach, so they were in awe. It’s an expensive round, but they do everything first class. - Saturday - Old Course again...we went down to the Pavilion at 8:30am to grab a quick breakfast and just check out the tee sheet (we were expecting to play the New or Castle that day)...starter told us there was a cancelation and open tee time on the Old at 10am. Pretty awesome to play it again, especially considering we took a red eye flight then shot up to St Andrews immediately for our first round - Sunday - Carnoustie...brutally hard and we were very hungover after a night at The Vic. Dunked a bunker shot on the par 3 8th. Have holed out before but never straight dunked one, so that was cool. The course is pretty flat but there’s just so much trouble everywhere - Monday - North Berwick...first time playing this one. Such a cool little links golf course. You can immediately tell that it’s a golf course architect’s dream given the outrageous mounding and quirky golf holes that actually work. Really good mix of scenic and just a well layed out course, so it was a favorite of everyone’s - Tuesday - Muirfield...morning round, the Coat and Tie lunch, then afternoon alternate shot round. I personally loved this course, but considering it was low 40s with sideways rain, my buddies didn’t enjoy the experience as much. I’m glad I did the lunch once, but probably wouldn’t do it again. The history in the clubhouse was crazy (they had trophies from other top clubs from around the world celebrating their 250th anniversary, including a Masters Trophy and a Wicker Basket from Merion), but the whole thing felt like an English boarding school. Course itself is so solid though. Long, hard, but a well thought out layout. The bunkering and greens complexes were fantastic, and the rough was easily the toughest we faced all trip. First cut was tough but manageable. Second cut was “hack it back to the fairway if you can find it” - Wednesday...Edinburgh for the day until our mid-afternoon flight back Random Other Stuff... - Watching The Masters over there was awesome. Sky Sports’ broadcast was fantastic (they actually use the exact same graphics as CBS, just different commentators) and they actually showed more live coverage than in the States. It was also entirely commercial-free - The crowds were definitely very anti-Patrick Reed. Most of the time we were watching in The Dunvegan with some caddies, golf travelers, and the St Andrews University Golf team. Cool vibe overall - Joined the St Andrews Golf Club as an overseas member before the trip, so checking out the Clubhouse was cool. Shoot me a PM if anyone is planning on heading over there. May be able to get you clubhouse access for the day. Hopefully I can win the lottery for their 175th Anniversary Member/Guest in September - Restaurant reco’s in St Andrews...Forgan’s (best meal we had all trip) and H&H (upscale pub under the Hamilton Grand, behind the 18th green of the Old Course). Absolutely get a restaurant reservation on a Saturday night. Every place in town is packed - Restaurant reco’s in North Berwick...Lobster Shack (tiny little outdoor eatery on the pier...some of the best seafood bisque and chowder we’ve ever had) and Herringbone (American style restaurant). Also, most restaurants close around 8pm in North Berwick which sucks. Plan accordingly. - Driving over there isn’t bad, at least compared to Ireland. Rented a Volkswagen Transporter van for the 4 of us. Fit all of our clubs and bags nicely. Other than the ride from EDI to St Andrews (mostly back roads), the roads were wide or almost all highway. - Caddies...did individual caddies for both St Andrews rounds and the first round at Muirfield. Forecaddies for the group the rest of the rounds. Absolutely recommend one while on the Old Course given the experience and all the blind shots. Could get away with forecaddies on all the rest if you’re looking to save a little cash - Everything (excluding caddies and spending money) added up to about $2,600 per guy. We got quoted more than double that from the tour operators for the exact same itinerary. If you’re looking to make the trip, plan it all yourselves. Just ask questions here and I can help push you in the right direction. Since it was first week of April, we got shoulder season rates on most courses, which helped keeping costs down - Weather...50-55 and partly cloudy every day but one. That one was low 40s with sideways rain. Courses were in pristine condition given it snowed there a week before. Probably gets a little firmer and faster mid-summer, but it was still about the same as it was in October when I went last year - My buddy reached out to Ru MacDonald from the Scottish Golf Podcast. So there’s a solid chance he does an episode with us
Buddy of mine has been posting pictures from this past week playing the old course with his dad, was jealous already and your post has pushed that over the edge. That sounds like an absolutely amazing time/trip.
