I think you are good with the stock vokey. You typically want a little heavier in the wedges than your irons, if you are playing stiff CTL those are 115g vs. the S400 in the vokey at 130g. I worry about the shaft matching a little more if you are getting 46-50 degree wedges that you are hitting 130-140 yards. KBS makes some shafts that can launch higher and more spinny if that is what you are into.
I was part of an ad shoot today that I’m sure will make its way here when someone sees it but we were finishing up on a green and I put the pin back in. Camera man asks if I can do that again on film, say sure. Grab the flag, walk back and walk up again. And miss the hole with the pin.
Last tourney for our fantasy league this upcoming week!! Down to MODEVIL and me although with just the one tourney left I'll likely need a W from one of my guys. Jigga what's the payouts?
Winner take all I thought Spoiler I think third gets money back and 70/30 split of remaining pot or close to that
Thanks for the info. I carry a 54 and 58, hit a fair amount of fuller shots with the 54 but hardly ever the lob so I figured going with the taper lites wouldn't be the prudent play. I'm mostly just curious about those wedge specific shafts that KBS offers but I'm not looking at making a change right now, thinking I'll wait until this winter/spring when I'm guessing they'll announce the SM8 and the price drops on the SM7
Euro Tour continues to make progress where the PGA Tour gets left behind http://www.europeantour.com/europeantour/news/newsid=374910.html
Bought a brand new Taylormade M6 two weeks ago. Played one round, warming up for the second on the driving range. Make decent contact with the ball, but I make eye contact with my driver head flying down the range..........Taylormade ultimately replaced the club for free, but man that was a fun round of golf.
replay of the 2018 tour championship just wrapping up on golf channel....all the feels watching that Cat win again as the crowd chants his name on 18
Play one of the RTJ trail courses today, The Senator in Prattville, AL at 7,654 yards with my buddy who has Q school there next week. Just when you think you are good go do that to get snapped back to reality.
Took my 2 year old to the driving range the other day. Proud dad here. He was hitting them pretty well and holds the pose like a pro! He got a couple of high fives from the old dudes on the range.
For sure. I grew up a poor farmers kid and didn't step foot on a course until I was in middle school. He's already been tagging along with me a few times. We usually tee off early and he always brings his putter and rides until we get to the green and then he copies my puts. He's actually a really good putter.
Still love the thread title. Up in Northern MI for a guys golf wknd. Weather looks a little chilly, but no rain. Last night’s views:
Read that Twitter thread and his group played the round in 3:30. Faster than Brooks and a bunch of other groups. I'm not a Bryson fan but thought that was interesting.
The newest NLU pod with Scott Harrington sure gets heavy. Pretty awesome hearing him talk about everything and finally getting his card, hope he can have a solid season (starting in two weeks)
I'm sure viewership is down because tons of people only watch for Tiger, but a Brooks/Rory final pairing is fucking awesome. Hope it stays that way for Sunday.
Who’s got the trick for taking it from the range to the course? My performance when practicing is loose and acceptably accurate, but the course tightens me up and that results in way too many mistakes. I’ve really struggled since picking it back up a few months ago and it mostly comes from tee to green. /end rhetorical question
Are you hitting off of grass or a mat at range? I look like a fucking pro off a mat then go out and still suck.
Any golf club recommendations for a beginner? I’d like to buy a new set before I start taking lessons in the fall or early spring. Im also open to used ones, but those seem tougher to find.
Nah, my “home” course is a grass practice range. It’s really just a matter of not being able to loosen up when it counts (yet). I tend to hit a pull draw when I’m swinging stiff and that leaves me in play but in terrible position. I played a 9-10 hole stretch a few weeks ago where everything was clicking and it really inspired me to work to get that feeling back. There is nothing like playing good golf imo.
I'd go to golf digest hot list from a couple years ago. Look at super game improvement and game improvement irons. Search the internet for used ones. I've gotten nice new and used sets in eBay, just have to make sure it's a reputable buyer. My last couple sets of irons have been cobra and liked them. Currently playing Taylor Made and they are fine. Figure out if you like hybrids or not. Supposedly they are easier to hit but I prefer a cavity back iron.
Get some weed gum. Or, just regular gum. I've started chewing regular chewing gum after reading an article on golf digest. Relaxes you.
Thanks. A buddy recommend the Titleist AP 1s for the irons. Guess they’re supposed to be more forgiving.
There's kind of a spectrum of iron forgiveness. Those are forgiving while still having a more traditional look to them. The kind of shit I play is way more forgiving but a lot of people wouldn't be caught dead with it in their bags. Also, Titleist irons generally have a higher resale. So you are probably going to pay more for a used set of those. Can probably go and demo clubs places and see what you like.
