Landed in Portland. On the way to Bandon. Sheep Ranch Wednesday. Trails and Pacific tomorrow (Saturday).
Nc sandhills golf is so good. Going up in February and playing Tobacco Road Friday, midpines all day Saturday and then southern pines Sunday.
88 at Trails. Two birdies on the front nine. Only played the front nine at Pacific. We had rain, wind and 40 degrees on Pacific. Didn’t keep score. Probably shot a 183. Conditions were sporty to say the least. Got Pacific again and then Preserve today.
Drained about a 30ft putt today for birdie. Ball was probably going to miss right by a couple inches but hit a ballmark in the green, took 2 bounces to the left and rolled in. Was nice to finally have some luck bounce my way.
Anyone ever played golf in Cabo? Trip to the Virgin Islands was cancelled and doing Cabo instead. Debating trying to golf some in this trip now
Polo shirt after the first two. Amazing day. 60 degrees. Even this Florida boy was comfortable. Never broke 5 mph all day.
Update. Played out of my mind this weekend. Apparently I really enjoy fast greens as I think I 3 putted only 3x all weekend (we played 18 Friday at Pinehurst #1, 27 Saturday at Southern Pines, and 18 yesterday at Talamore). I thought Pinehurst #1 was fine. Nothing to blow me away but still nice. Southern Pines was my least favorite as it had too many hills. You hit a great shot and there is still a 75% chance you're hitting off of a hill with the ball above or below your feet or a down hill or up hill lie. Really annoying and unnecessary. Enjoyed the layout of Talamore a lot. Not the hardest course and pretty forgiving but liked the looks and that it made you think a bit more. I'm a 14 handicap and I shot an 88 at PH1, 87 at SP (then a 39 on the front 9 when we replayed that back), and an 83 at Talamore. Putting really kept the score down bigly.
1 tee (the new Illuminati tee that’s right off the shed) was blustery right out of the car. Middle of the course was tolerable while still a little chilly. Had the right 4 some so it was a great day. We had the place to ourselves.
Low spots and collection areas were wet. Overall decently firm for the time of year. Still a great day. Not many times you are going to have that place to yourself ever again.
#1 played crazy long. Like driver 3 wood 6 iron. Other holes not too big a deal. The chipping kinda sucked when you came up a few feet short on approaches and they roll back 15 yards into muddy collection areas. We just birdied and bogied a ton of holes. Lots of soft bogies
Not to turn this into an NLU sub-forum but is anyone a Nest member? Worth it? Interested in attempting to meet up with people but always get a bad vibe from some of the message board douchebags.
