Easily his best finish here. T28 before that. And he was so far out of contention he was able to play fuck it golf and pin hunt. He's broken 70 three times in 30 rounds here. Isolating one round to prove your point is a bold strategy. Sorry to ruffle your feathers man.
Glad they leveled out a lot of the course/greens. I think many here have played it, and probably enjoyed it. However, if there is a Dye course they want to be a ball strikers championship, Id choose Harbour Town. Sawgrass is no longer the goofy golf used to be, but their ripping off of The Masters is still annoying.
Apologies for incredibly cunty posts yesterday. Those were horrible. I blame beer. The Masters like things don't really bother me - but they do try to copy a lot of things. The scoreboard on TV is The Players, not NBCs. They changed the name to The Players. They have three big sponsors, etc. Probably good branding I guess.
You would've loved the guy in ny following story. My dad and I ubered to the TPC on Friday, where you're then dropped off in a lot and taken by uber shuttle to the entrance. While in the shuttle a guy claimed, "The TPC is like the Masters now, you're coming to see the course as much as you are the players." I simply gave him a blank stare and didn't respond.
Walked right up to the line of Uber's and saw a Toyota Corolla. I bend down and make eye contact with my driver and he says "Mark." Sure, that's the name of my drive. I hop in and then 400 feet down the road I get a call. It was from mark, the guy whose car I should've been in, telling me that he had just kicked out a couple passengers because they got in his car incorrectly. So when my first driver said "mark," he was asking to see if I was mark. I thought he was telling me he was mark. And of course they both drove corollas. So the wait wasn't bad at all, but there was confusion with so many people jumping in and out of cars.
I mean, I've been to both multiple times and I see zero similarities. I'm asking what similarities you see.
I got fitted for a driver 3 years ago and wasn't really concerned with understanding the tech behind everything, and just took their word for it. ended up with an 81g stiff shaft. that's ridiculously too heavy, right? my swing speed is 95-100 generally.
Yeah that's pretty beefy for a driver. I tried out an 85g X-stiff shaft a couple of years ago and it was way too much shaft for me.
Local guy here that played at FSU and is now trying to make it to the tour had his shaft delivered to the store Spoiler
Flex probably matters a bit more, but yeah that's super heavy. For reference, quite a few guys on tour use a 60 gram driver shaft, including Phil and Danny Willett. Pretty sure Berger uses a 50 gram shaft. They're not using regular flex by any means though.
Poulter getting some serious flack for playing for 2nd place yesterday, from both Chamblee and Steve Elkington I agree that laying up on 16 was pretty bad. That should've been a green light from where he stood given he was two strokes back. He needed at least birdie. That said, I don't blame him (or anyone really) for playing to the center of the green at 17. After making par on 16, he knew his only real shot to win was Kim rinsing one given 18 isn't a birdie hole. And he probably wasn't feeling super confident in his swing at that point either (see eventual shank on 18). So I had no problem with the conservative play on 17, especially given his Tour standing and the money/ranking he could lose with a single ball in the drink. But laying up on 16...?
Faster tempo = heavier shaft to help you slow your tempo down. At least that's my basic understanding
I honestly don't think Poulter has the shot he needed for 16 in the bag. I understand their argument, but I'm not sure his best shot at a 4 was having a go at that flag from his position.
The wine thread is pretty accepting. You can ask for suggestions on good $12 bottles and you get just as respectful an answer as if you are asking about a $120 bottle. Try suggesting that a quality IPA is made in the Midwest and you get twenty posts from people from the northeast calling you an idiot.
Oh absolutely. Especially from the rough. But with the pin right, he could've bailed out safe left of the green and tried to get up and down for birdie from there. Take the water totally out of play. 228 out and hitting a 130 yard shot was perplexing. Even with a so-so lie.
Yeah, but that's a tricky area over there even with a mile of green to work with. Long is no good either. I'm just not sure I could point to him laying up as playing for 2nd. He needed to go flag hunting on 17 after failing to birdie though. Hell, this is a weird stance for me as, often much to my own detriment, I've never seen a flag I didn't like.
Watching Feherty with Steph Curry right now. You can really tell Steph loves golf like crazy. He answers questions about golf better than basketball related questions.
Not pimping them like I usually do but if you haven't entered the Callaway Golf contest you should Flight for you and friend to Scotland 5 nights in hotels 4 rounds of golf Play in Scottish open pro am Full fitting for entire set of clubs And brand new set of clubs
Do ya'll have any suggestions on websites/places to book golf trips to? Looking to go for 3-4 days. Assuming easier to book through a resort type than pick a place and setup separate tee times?
Appreciate it, I'll take a look. Forgot to mention if there was a place that was like all inclusive where we didn't have to worry about buying drinks/driving that would be preferable.
I went they golfbreaks.com. They did a phenomenal job. If you're a single, you can probably plan it yourself for cheaper. But anything else and they'll help you out a bit.
This is the one they pimped on no laying up. Those guys would get murdered by their subscriber base if they gave the kind of review they gave golfbreaks and it turned out to be shit.
Went to set my lineup and realized I'm sitting in first place for a segment for the first time ever. Going to enjoy this one week of bliss, heading to Europe tomorrow so setting my lineup the next two weekends could be low on my priority list
