Do you guys have any apps you use to book and find cheaper tee times? Buddy and I have been using golf now, but it only has like 9 of the local courses. While it has one course that I really like playing, the others are kind of bleh.
A lot of public courses sites already have whatever partner they work with integrated into their own site. You just have to check their online times they have available. and/or buy this http://www.omahagolfcard.com
I know we've got some No Laying Up fans in here. The Web.com tour plays a charity pro-am here in Greenville every year. I work with the tournament and in the group I was with one-day last week, one of the ams/celebrities was Tron Carter. Super cool dude. Got to talk to him throughout the round. Apparently the PGA flew all of the guys down to Sawgrass for the Players and put them up in a house. He said most of the tour guys are big fans and are really cool with them. Said they don't really know what's next/the longterm plan for the podcast. Oh, and the other celeb in the group was Chipper Jones. Really cool day for me.
Thornblade is definitely the best. The Preserve is probably the toughest, but it and Furman aren't on the same level as Thornblade.
Sawgrass seemed like a strange episode, in a good way. They seemed really surprised by Langer's interview in terms of content. It's already so good, but I hope it continues to be an inside look at the stuff players and people related to the tour don't want to talk about on tv or in front of the press. Rory has been really candid on there.
This is probably a long shot but did anyone see the women's NCAA championship? This wake forest player had a two shot lead and tripled 17. Arizona St girl won by one stroke. It was very hard to watch.
Watched part of it. Missed that. Oof. Actually watched the 2016 team championship match between Stanford and Washington last night too.
I had it on in my office. Was rooting for ASU. The wake player posing as it went into the water was brutal.
Yea it was recorded with an iPhone. Sounds like a bone that was thrown to them that they weren't at all prepared for.
Then take 5 minutes to set up a couple of mics. It was really annoying. Other than that, really like the show.
Did you listen to the next episode? I don't think they were planning on much of anything. Langer was accompanied by his media guy and ready for a full review. I'd bet the podcast is waivering and people heard about it.
Callaway just announced they're carrying the EPIC name into a new iron line. I was worried they'd be bulky but just from the picture I've seen the Pro version doesn't look that thick
For a $250 per iron club, they look cheap as hell with the badging. Not sure they're going to attract the rich crowd with neon green and carbon fiber on an iron. The Pros do look decent at address though.
Ugliest clubs I've seen since the titleist c16 which are in the same price category. Strange how that market is popping up. Will be interesting to see if it lasts.
damn. $250 an iron is gonna be a tough sell me thinks. especially, as was previously mentioned, with that neon green branding.
What kind of player are these intended for? The neon green is probably meant to serve as a marker for the mid-life chrisis yuppies to show off how rich they are. See the green on the back of the cart and people know you spent big $ on your clubs.
I think you're spot on. Hard to imagine these outperform the PXGs. I have heard some people don't like the feel of them though so maybe they would go for these. The game improvement ones look terrible from the top line.
For as ugly as PXGs are with the screws, at least they somewhat resemble blades. Which is likely what that high prices clientele is looking for. These look like generic game improvement irons that don't fit the clientele at all.
The story behind Erin Hills is pretty interesting. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel is doing a series of stories behind the course's history. Is there a Maybe the putter knows you miss to the right and self corrected. (Joke depends on that being the toe of the putter.)
To me, putter "technology" is the funniest shit out there. I putt with an old Ping Danser. Persimmon on ball contact is so sex.
Go watch a few putting fittings on a sam lab and you will realize there's absolutely science behind matching someone to the right putting technology that exists out there. Just like your swing, you need a putter to fit your stroke and it takes "technology" to get most people putting it properly. The reality is it doesn't matter what most golfers use because their stroke is so inconsistent, but you can absolutely be fit to technology that increases your make percentages.
I'm sure that's all true, the face inserts and all that just seem silly to me on the putter for some reason.
I had to change my ball bc my putter face was too soft. The insert is supposed to distribute more energy on mishits. But it basically caused me to have such speed issues that I needed a clickier ball. Its a custom putter so yea putter technology that I have to adjust to.
Yes. I'm significantly better. Which is still terrible. I did drop a 40 foot bomb my last round which felt fantastic. I had five 3 putts though.
I've been playing hand-me-down clubs for the last ten years. Got fitted for the first time today and bought a new driver (Ping G LS) and iron set (Mizuno JPX900 Hot Metal) .
That's the path I went. Bought it at a scheels and wasn't sure if I could find the receipt to get a return. Called their CS line and explained up had happened to the club face and they offered me a new o-works putter instead. Would have just liked to replace it with the same sabertooth but they didn't have any of he old ones in stock and figured I wouldn't want to go the pre-owned route. I actually probably would have if they had a like new one but she said they'd replace it with the O-works putter before I could say anything. Went with the tank 7.
It should be good. The girl on the phone was like, which one would you like, and suggested the fang, 7 and 2ball. But I said I'd call back after I went and tried them all out. Spoiler and if it, for some reason, doesn't I'm going to say fuck it and get a Scotty. Yes i know how messed up that is.
I am a bit excited about today. Going to play a private course named steelwood after work and the wife has agreed to join if I like it. Not many people in the area even know the course exists but is supposedly the nicest course around here, which is saying something.
