First round since May today. If you had told me on a course with 5 par 3s I hit every green and played them even par I would have thought I put up a good number. But instead I couldn’t get off the tee with every driver being blocked to the right with my timing just sucking. So always nice to just completely flip what usually do well on the course.
Cam Smith and Brooks Koepka just wrecked their careers for the Saudi bag. Two top-10 (top-5!?!?!) players just went absolutely poof. Rahm slowly closing in on this status too.
Niemann is a legend on LIV, he’d be a nobody on tour still since he chokes in every major so it probably worked out for him too.
Today has been wild. A hole in one Rose shanked a shot as bad as I do That shot from Rory Some hole outs
This might be the best I’ve seen Scottie and that’s ridiculous. He’s just not missing shots, like, at all.
nope, he finished T8 there. He struggled at Pinehurst. He was 3-for-4 in 2023 too. 10th place is his third-worst major finish since Argentina won the World Cup
You were spot on. Tried my best to not think about the score. Focused on ball contact and smart shots. Turns out that works? Who knew?
I know this is crazy talk but I think I’m ready to say Scottie is better than Tiger. The shot creativity is just other worldly.
No way of knowing what Tiger would do with modern equipment and similar competition, but it's quite clear to me that Tiger isn't in his own tier in the all-time rankings anymore. Now Scottie just needs to win the titles to earn the spot there legacy-wise
Better, like right now, at this moment? Or better career? Because Scottie has 3 majors at 29, with a 4th trending. Tiger had 10 at 29.
I’ve never seen a British where less balls trickle into pot bunkers. Main difference between Scottish and Irish links or something?
Tiger also started playing majors younger than Scottie, played a different ball than his competitors for a few years, and played against mostly plumbers and firemen. I don’t think comparing them at X age is fair.
At a respective age… I’m not there yet but prime Scottie is basically prime Tiger the last couple of years. A few more and it’s a conversation
Fitzpatrick and Rory in the second to last group trying to run Scottie down could be at least somewhat interesting.
The collection areas on this golf course aren’t as dramatic. It’s also somewhat soft from all the rain.
Ha. Comparing them is fair. I mean comparing them at a specific age might not make the most sense seeing as Scottie, although a great amateur, has turned into something different the last few years. Tiger was on tv when he was five.
I recognize Tiger was the young phenom that clearly burned a bit too bright and Scottie started a bit later, so that is where I think it will take a few more years of Scottie of playing some pretty exceptional golf to catch up. That said, at this pace, with his lifestyle, he definetly has the capacity to surpass TW.
Golf is extremely data-driven. We can very comfortably compare peaks between players with respect to their competition
Good for Li Haotong for making the final pairing at a major, but boy is that a mismatch Looks like my Sunday afternoon cleared up
