My favorite part of your swing? All the stabilizer muscles in your feet and ankles trying to keep you on balance for the finish hold.
Lol. Winter plan is a two parter: Broke: Deeper right hip, hold off on firing longer. Using wedge under right foot as one drill. Butt against chair as another Woke: Bought speed sticks
It’s really a “winter” plan. I’m Central Coast CA, so I’m able to play outdoors year round. The above is just what I’ll be focusing on in the privacy of my garage for a while If your comment was setting up: “that ain’t gonna be a long enough winter” as a punchline, then well played and probably spot on
I set up closed and hit balls in the garage for 3 hours Friday night keeping my right heel down longer. I battle some early extension and moved my miss from the hosel to the the toe side of the face, which is a little more playable to say the least.
Good luck man. It’s crazy how difficult it is to make swing changes stick. 1. It takes a huge amount of exaggeration to even get into the new spot 2. You have to battle through understanding the change will pay off as you hit shit shot after shit shot 3. Our aging brains hate creating new neural pathways 4. Number 3 also causes us to revert to old tendencies under pressure or while fatigued/drunk You hear about tour pros taking months to get small changes to stick while working with the best teachers on the planet, and it all feels kinda hopeless tbh. But I’ll grind away anyway. Nothing better to do with my spare time. Of course I say that even though I’ve thrown clubs into my net multiple times this week and sworn I was going to take up sewing or something
All correct. I’ve always been a big picture guy so the slow change is something I’m used to. it took me all last winter to fix an inside takeaway and quit rolling open the face which made we want to come over the top. So easy to do in the garage yet so hard on the course.
Does anyone know what the requirements are for MGM to invite a guest to play Shadow Creek Friday-Sunday? I've got a tee time booked for a Monday but someone in our group spends a few weekends in LV annually and maybe has enough "cred" to get invited (I have absolutely no clue if said someone gambles enough/spends enough but figured it would be worth trying). I'm guessing I could put forward his MGM rewards account or profile when booking and see if the concierge asks about a complimentary round. I realize you only get one round for two guests in a room..
yeah it’s a fun course. Interestingly, A bunch of the holes got rerouted awhile ago. Think I’ve only played it once or so since then. Like the two holes across the street are in complete opposite direction now. And there’s a couple on the back that got flipped around.
Headed to Bandon this Wednesday thru Sunday. Anyone got any good golf trip betting games for a foursome across multiple rounds?
All we play nowadays is Banker. Perfect game. Can play it with any number of players across all different skill levels and if someones a big gambler then they can bet bigger but yet if someone likes to be conservative they can.
Fun fact I inquired about membership 2 years ago but never followed through with getting on the waiting list.
I’m fairly certain I have a really uggly swing. I haven’t recorded myself and when I’ve taken lessons they’ve only filmed one or two swings. I’m actually toying within purchasing a stand and filming everything…maybe even do a YouTube course vlog thing. Ty Webb would probably love watching 40 course vlogs of stone creek.
My biggest things are tempo and weight shift. Tempo is just something in need to remind myself of everytime with my count cadence . but I found like a weight shifting board from whygolf that I’m contemplating picking up. big thing though with winter is getting back in actual shape. Everyday I’ve been swimming 1 mile Running 2-3 miles and then doing like arms/legs/ab days.
Would you recommend going to Winter Park as well or is more of a cool course to have if you live near there?
Nice. I haven’t worked out on purpose in probably ten years. Swinging all the time has been rough on my back and shoulders these past few months, so I signed up for Iron Mike from Chasing Scratch’s program. He’s got a flexibility track and another specifically for speed stick training I intend to try. A few guys in the sim Discord doing speed training swear by it. Will likely just be pissing away $12/month though.
I haven’t made it there yet since I moved away but depending on what area of town you’re staying in it may not be close. I’ve heard it’s super fun and such so if you’re able to make it there go for it
I agree on all of these except Champions Gate. The three courses are nice but they are just a bit boring. Southern Dunes is fun. The Winter Park 9 is fun and relatively cheap. I'd only play it if you only have a small amount of time.
I usually play well at Champions gate so it rates higher for me than others. Played Celebration at the last day of a 6 day trip and couldn’t keep it on the planet so I hate that place but fully based on how I played
Celebration is nice but hard. I just played The Ritz Course and that was nice but super fast greens. I could barely hold a green with a wedge.
Ty Webb and others can attest usually my game depends on how my driver is going at any given moment. However today I didn’t hit a good drive until the 12th. But today was by far the best I had ever hit my irons and wedges. Birdied 4/5 from 6-10. Just a joy of a round. 8th hole from 131 9th hole from 157 10th hole from 88 will be below. Smooth 73
Nice looking course. I have never played it but I have played Lost Tree a couple times. I think they are almost next door to each other?
I want to like this for the Jigga slander but I’ve done the exact same thing more than I care to admit
depends on your definition of next door. They’re about 1.5 miles apart. Nicklaus did the redesign for $1. Obviously not as well conditioned as Lost tree but a fun course.
Story told to me today by a friend who runs one of the top private clubs around here Golfer shows up wanting to get paired up with some people to play with. Group asks him how good of a player he is “I usually shoot 80-81” They say sure and they all go out and play. 2 and a half hours later the guy is at the bar. They ask him how he did. “I got to 81 and picked up and came in here”
Listened to the NLU PGL pod throughout the day and I’m much more intrigued by the idea now than I have been, though admittedly I haven’t paid a ton of attention to it as I’m still in the camp that nothing happens. Love the idea of automatic promotion/relegation, and the idea of a team choosing their two scores to count the morning before competition starts sounds crazy but fun. There has been a ton more effort put in behind the scenes to make it happen, and the way he kept saying he wants the league to work in conjunction with the Tour makes it seem like there’s hope, but I don’t think the Tour will ever concede giving up the top 48-52 guys for 18 events
