This is what has been killing me. I'm not great at reading greens so my misses are all from trying to play less break and then have 6 feet coming back. Boom 3 putt.
I think it was NoLayingUp that tweeted this but it is true...Bryson is a better villain if he actually wins once in while and is somewhat competitive. Bubba isn't really fun to hate anymore as he MC's or goes T44 on a good week.
I think it's retarded and I would literally murder someone with the club in my hand, but it's hard not to laugh at the videos.
Pretty much my thoughts Just saw one where the kids leg is snapped. Only a matter of time before someone gets seriously injured or worse. Would have to think you could catch a murder attempt/charge for that
me too but he isn't really on TV when he is taking the bubba craft home on Friday night so not much material
I like Rickie this week. But Stenson has found some form of late. Give me his ball striking and the slow greens make him a better than average putter.
For you guys struggling with the flat stick, spend as much time on the practice green as you do on the range and you'll figure it out in a hurry. Most people hit a large bucket in 45 minutes, then walk over and putt for 10. Putting deserves equal time if you intend to play at a higher level.
I just havent had the time this year. Haven't been to the range once, but have played about 5 rounds. I really need to get out there some weekend and just putt for a couple hours.
Good lord the Srixons are rocket launchers. If I get them clean, I hit the 4 iron 230, the 5 220, and the 6 210. Only problem is I topped out at 190 with the 7 iron. (The 6 is a 565, and the 7 is a 765.) Gonna need to get more help on the gapping.
I've found making a direct correlation between the depth of my take away and the distance of the putt helpful; especially when I use my right foot as a gauge. 5 ft and in, I dont take the face past my big right toe. Long lag putt; the face is well outside my right pinky toe. It's like a pressure gauge and my right big toe is the meter.
Went out onto a flat par 5 on the back 9 of my home course. Went with the wind and against. Not too breezy though. I would hit 3 balls per club, go measure with a gps app, then hit them back the other way. Course was dead and I really got to try and get dialed in, was great. A bit crude, but the gps app is actually pretty accurate. Distances were an average of both wind directions. I was expecting these sticks to be a little shorter than my AP1s but I was hoping they would be as long. They're way longer. It kind of has me freaked out. I'd love to get on a trackman with them for a few hours.
I loathe the range. I spend 9/10 of my time on the green. This isnt really a strategy - Im just lazy. I probably hit balls before I play maybe 1 out of every 100 rounds.
I used to kind of practice on the course as Id play a couple of shots on many holes. I love to walk 9 holes by myself after work, though I dont get to do it much at all anymore, but when i was in my early 20s Id do it almost every day. Even before tournaments when i was young I would maybe work my way through 3/4 of a small bucket doing the same thing.
I hit my irons similar distances as JY. I'd almost rather not hit it so far. I'm not good enough to be much better than low to mid 80's from the tips, but based on distance I typically need to play the tips. Played a 7100 yard 74.7 rating last week, it ate my lunch
I hit my AP1 5 iron 195-205. I was absolutely nuking the Srixon 5 iron. The feel was unreal. Great trajectory but Im starting to wonder if my lofts are on steroids. Its just too much of a distance gain. I literally thought I would be a club shorter with the Srixons. I was fit into the AP1s at CC so it cant be some crazy improvement in spin numbers or something.
Yes, welcome to the club * J Y * I'm right in the same ballpark, which is usually nice since I'm using my scoring clubs after my tee shot, but like you said playing from the tips to accommodate my distance on clubs gets tough.
All of our money games/tourneys are from the tips anyways so I'm glad to have the extra distance. I just checked my scorecard I used to write down distances and I wasn't mistaken, especially on the 4 iron which I hit extra bc I couldn't believe the numbers. I caught one on the bottom groove and skulled one out 235 with the roll. When I catch my hybrid well it goes 235-240 so these numbers come as a shock to me and I feel like something isn't right. Like I said Im right at 105 mph with the driver.
post a video of your swing and we can prob tell you in 5 seconds whether those numbers are right or not. Either way, congrats - looks like you found something that works well.
Are they pretty straight? Other than distance how do they compare to your AP1s. I'm going to buy a new set of something in the next week. Plan is to buy the new ping once they are released but I'm open.
I don't really have a bad thing to say about them. If you're getting a GI set I would absolutely give the 565s a look. Compared to the AP1s, they've got a little less offset and a thinner topline. They also have the V sole which I found really nice, great turf interaction. AP1s will be a little more forgiving, so will the G400s. If you're going straight GI I'd want to hit all of them. The Mizuno JPX Hot Metals are supposed to be very good and people like the Steelhead XRs. I think a lot of it is what catches your eye and what makes you want to square the clubhead up and put a good swing on it. I'd definitely give the 565s a chance though. Whats your hcp and your ball striking consistency?
Don't even have a hcp yet. Only really been playing for a month or so. I've gotten pretty consistent with my irons. Driver is terrible. I'm just now starting to break 100. I'm going to go to a club fitter this week and will hit everything. Has anyone used club champion for club fitting?
Playing for a month and breaking a 100 is pretty damn solid. Have several friends that have been playing for years and still don't break 100.
I used Club Champion a little over a year ago and it dramatically improved my game. I'd just go in with an open mind and let the fitter find the clubs that give you the best distance and dispersion. Those numbers will give you confidence when you take them out on the course. I'd also make sure you like the look of the clubs at address and in general. If a certain set gives you the best numbers but they look clunky and ugly to you over the ball it may not be the right choice. In my fitting my numbers were very close between the AP1s and the Ping I irons which are more of a players cavity back. I opted for the more forgiving set and it was the right move.
