Twice whatever par is
I mean you should
I do double-par plus 1.
Played a really good round for me on Tuesday and won 20 off my boss all legit nothing really conceded fun round. My putter was on fire.
Had my partner match play on Wednesday and shot 14 shots worse. We were up 3 through 5. Wheels came off on 6, my partner had a birdie putt and 3 jacked it to lose the hole. We lost 2 and 1.
Oh man I had that happen a couple of weeks ago. I'm 38 and my opponent played D1 baseball in 2016. Dude could outdrive me with a 3 iron if we both hit it well. Was humbling to say the least.
Played the par 3 at our local club with my son last night. He's five and is just now starting to be able to swing it correctly. But man if I played that course every week my handicap would drop 4 points.
Played with a 24 year old who played at Georgia State and had a similar experience. My first drive was 280 and he was at least 30 yards past me
Playing in a two day tourney starting tomorrow with a Calcutta Saturday night. I haven’t played in a couple months and it’s going to be miserably hot.
Cocktail party 5
Had myself a round today. I putted beautifully, left three different 15-20 footers in the jar, half a roll short. Pitched in from 20 yards short on the #1 handicap fifth hole, stiffed an 8 iron from the rough to 5 feet on 18. Bogeyed both of the short par 3 holes which was a killer. Walked out to the parking lot feeling full of pride and thinking about my dad.
Birdie on the last by Snotherman knocks 23 out
Missed green. 50 feet away. -1 probably makes it in
And Smotherman goes from possibly moving the cut line to missing it completely with a 6
That’s tough. He had to be feeling so much pressure
One could say he was smothered by the pressure
I know those feelings. I needed a 7 or lower on hole 18, to break 100. Drove into the heather and hit about every tree on the hole.
Picked up my ball.
Talk about pressure!
I don’t know how you sleep at night whipping up on Joe and Eno like that
More like Emo after they play with ole Tim!
Playing in our big 4 man scramble tournament this weekend. Calcutta and flights after the first day, with an absurd amount of sandbagging. I hate it, but our small town club refuses to change the rules because they sell out in minutes. It’s a shame because it could really be a lot better.
Awesome round man and really happy you got one of these given the timing.
I’m not a religious person, but I picked the sticks after back up after a ten year hiatus when one of my golf mentors from my youth passed. Knew he would have been upset to learn I had quit. Don’t really have the words to define that experience, but it was special
way easier than I thought. Hopefully I like this grip or I’m finding itsalwayssunnyinathens
Love that grip
They just did a major renovation and the course has been closed for like a year and a half. No idea what it’s looking like at the moment or what they changed though.
People spend more money on their golf carts than the dues
Dude misses the playoffs and the Tour card guarantee from that double bogey. Man I'd be losing it if I were him and I had to sit on that putt and last hole all night
Played this morning and my first 6 holes were Par, Par, Bird, Double, Double, Bird on my way to a +3 38 on the front and in typical fashion, shoot +7(43) on the back for an 81. Game is frustrating as hell to play well for a stretch and then shit the bed for a few holes.
played a couple of weeks ago. +5 through 3 and then shot +1 on the remaining holes for a 77 (par 71). Irons were dialed. A couple of months ago I was +12 through 7 and shot 84
Is this Musgrove?
We shot -14 and were leaders in the clubhouse. I about had a heat stroke and left before Calcutta. Going to need an IV and a lot of water to be able to tee off in the morning. I put down more beers than we had birdies. Holy fuck it was like playing in a sauna that back 9
Anyone there to buy your team?
Yeah, not sure who it was but the Calcutta is a separate pot from the flights so I’m not too worried about it. I’d be shocked if we break -10 tomorrow with how beat we looked after today.
Same boat. We shot -17 today and we are fucked. No way we will come close to that tomorrow.
3 man or 4 man teams?
haven't ever experienced a calcutta at a proper club. My introduction to calcuttas was in a charity event in Amarillo fucking Texas...where teams were going for mid 4 figures. I had no idea this shit happened. I can't imagine what happens at clubs with fuck you money.
you would honestly be surprised. I’m at a club where they should be wild but everyone is so old money that they hardly even play for anything . I’ve heard Houstonish oil money places can get up to 3-400k.
Half Moon Bay:
Yep it's wild like that here in the "heartland" too. Calcuttas at the private courses in/around Omaha that I'm familiar with aren't small by any means but on a per team gambled basis easily get beat out by this one tourney at a small random farming town in south-central Nebraska that I play in most years. If you're in this tourney it's just accepted that you know it's a sandbaggers paradise and this year the Calcutta was $169K and the amount of teams is half of what my clubs big Calcutta tourneys have in it.
I know there's many more like that around the state in the small farming communities because just like your Texas oil money...here in farm country when the corn/bean and beef market prices are high like they have been and are now...the farmers are liquid and flush with cash.
Pebble? Or is this an MPCC flex? This sure looks a whole lot more like 14 on the Dunes course over there than any hole at Pebble
It's MPCC - but wasn't trying to be a flex was just going through the photos of the week and that one said Pebble.
Ok definitely Pebble:
I’ve sat behind that tee and been insanely jealous for too long to not remember it instantly. Looks incredible, have you gotten to play both?
MPCC twice - Pebble 5 times but I was pretty young for two of those.
Wind is whipping at Muirfield for the final round of the women’s Open this morning, firm and fast as well with some tight pins. Great spectating and basically the conditions we dreamt about for the Old Course a few weeks back
The Quarter Century tourney at Odessa CC was around 1.2 mil this year
That is fucking insane. I'd love to be the pro giving rulings in the shootout worth 500k.
Anyone have Palm Springs recs? Can only play one round. I remember always liking Big Horn on old school PC Links
