cant imagine how hard he is having to reconcile the Jimmy Dunne stuff. Dunne and Rory's Dad are really good friends think he brought both of them in as members to Seminole. Only to sellout his principles.
I am hoping enough people get mad and give up the game so tee times won't be so hard to get on saturday mornings thanks
Lady: they killed a reporter and finance terrorism. Bryson: nobodies perfect and we are all trying to improve.
Lol if anything it'll do the opposite since this news story is going to transcend sports news, it'll remind people about the sport
Based on his ongoing presser, I imagine the two of them felt Saudi money shaping golf was inevitable and it couldn’t be stopped. So the best option was to at least try to control it versus get run over by it.
"I’m not sure what it means that we’re entering an era of PGA Tour golf where financial compensation is going to be based on who you are, not what you do." They are who they are BECAUSE of what they do.
I don’t get the melodrama over this. Contractual agreements are not exactly a new thing for professional sports. Golf being late on it I guess isn’t surprising though.
If the core group of golfers that rejected it in Delaware held firm they would. I can get behind the fact that the amount of money in this is going to come out and be astronomical, but until we have those details, fuck Jimmy, Jay, etc. My guess is the PGA tour was digging deep into the reserve funds to pay these elevated events and the sponsors of the other events were pissed the big names werent showing up and wanted a discount on those in future years as well. They probably had no choice to even live up to the promises that they made to the PGA players about all these new purses. I just never believed that these sponsors would be good paying that much more money for the same shit.
Especially since the only tournaments most people care about are the ones that aren't ran by the PGA anyway.
Much like succession (sorry for the reference again), think they’re counting heavily on a Trump election
Every corporation in the world during Pride Month: we need to be careful with how we approach Pride month. We want to be sensitive and supportive to our stakeholders at this time, while not making a big thing of it with the woke Police PGA Tour and Jay Monahan: Let's hope they focus on 9/11 and not that we are taking billions from a government that punishes the LGBT community with capital punishment, life imprisonment, flogging and castration
can you do that and still be “independent contractors”? Not saying that’s not where it’s headed but that would seem like a pretty big sea change. I think they’d have to be employees to get into collective bargaining. But firmly talking out of my ass
I think if they start getting into contractual agreements with the players, it’s inevitable. If they simply keep the current pay format but just larger purses, then it likely doesn’t happen.
the PGA guys seem to think LIV goes away. But who knows. The only way LIV goes away is if there’s some type of team aspect rolled into the pga/dp calendar but probably on a reduced schedule. otherwise it looks like it’ll just be all of the tours under one umbrella. Play the tour you want without repercussions and have access to the other tours as necessary
He’s a smart guy and antitrust yes, but I’m having a real tough time making out the national security implications of Saudis owning a golf league
So I have a Bushnell tour v5 shift. The fucking thing stopped displaying slope. It's stuck in the non slope mode. Hopefully they'll send me the new version.
Honestly, wtf can Jay, Phil, Bryson, Jimmy, etc., say in regards to taking Saudi money (9/11, murdering journalist, etc)? I'm all for bashing their quotes, but what can they say to make them sound better? Saudi's were buying golf whether we were in it or not?
In case you’re wondering why Mav Mcnealy does science and shit: “His father, Scott McNealy, co-founded Sun Microsystems, which was acquired by Oracle Corporation for $7.4 billion in 2010”
