The Cowboys look to be continuing things this spring, currently 12 clear of the field in Hawaii halfway through the final round. Matt Wolff fired a 64 yesterday to get in contention, 2 back of Cole Hammer, and is now 5 under today and the leader by 1. Kid is a freak
Went and messed around with some putters today and I think I have rationalized the cost of a Scotty or one similar. Planning on setting up a fitting before buying this time. I really like the rounded edge look on the Select Newport
The sign on the road and the landscape and clubhouse made me feel like I went back in time to like the 70s. Very cool feeling. The hole that is totally surrounded by mounds that you must approach with the loft of a wedge was crazy. There’s a lot of holes that require a strategic drive and if well executed can make the hole very easy, and if not, gets you in trouble very fast. Also, the entire hole length bunkers that are 25-30 stairs deep are insane. It was my first round since November and I had 6 birdie looks and only nailed one. I had two 10s and two 9s, so I obviously didn’t score well. Without their app, you’re completely blind on probably 13 of the holes. Played it for $68.
Headed to San Diego this week and was planning on playing Torrey Pines either Thursday or Friday. The forecast for both days currently shows rain
It's a shame he passed away. He was really starting to build some fun courses. The only complaint I've heard about tobacco road is there are a few possible blind shots that can be difficult to manage the first time through.
My first time around we played middle tees, was with my dad and the first hole looks extremely intimidating as is the slope on the practice putting green. I tried to overpower the course and it kicked my ass. 2nd time around I just laid back and basically played to the 150 markers when necessary and shot under par.
They should take the amateurs out of the final round here so play can move at somewhat of a normal pace
Absolutely. I know it’s really just once a year and there is a lot of charity stuff going on, the “tradition” etc. but it kills the broadcast, especially by Sunday. You would think that some of these biz execs who are pretty serious players probably feel pretty awkward holding up play for the guys at the top of the leaderboard.
Played the ocean course at Kiawah yesterday. Definitely the coolest golf experience of my life. First time playing with a caddy. Incredible.
Wade. Roger caddied for the twosome I was paired with. Roger is supposedly a legend there. He showed me a video of him grabbing an alligator by the tail after a wealthy player paid him a couple years ago. He also made multiple jokes insinuating wade was gay. He's from West Virginia so it all made sense.
Have met Wade before. Really good dude. Need to inquire about Roger next time I’m down there. For humor reasons, of course.
The issue with the ball moving after Casey marked his ball is what’s wrong with golf. An extra seven minutes needed for a ruling because a ball moved an inch.
Yeah, wade was really good. He's younger and only been there a year or so. He played golf at Radford and is caddying while his fiance finishes up PA school in Charleston.
Phil has all the Epic Flash bag and headcovers but it sure looked a lot like he's still gaming the Rogue when he handed Tim his driver a minute ago. He is playing the new ball with the 3 lines but I'm sure Callaway lets him pick and choose
Almost all of the Callaway players using the new Flash drivers are using a tour issue version that is markedly different than what is being put out at retail.
That makes more sense. Callaway just tricking everyone into using the ERC? Faldo about had a stroke the first day he noticed the 3 colored lines when Phil was putting
They’re doing a really good job of watching their main pros not adopt their newest equipment while making it seem like they’re adopting their newest equipment.
I played a hole with it the other day and the 3 lines were awesome to putt with. I hope they make it available on the chrome soft
You'd think that they would stick with the "ball that changed the ball" for a little while instead of introducing a new one. I haven't looked at it much but I assumed the new ball was essentially the Chrome Soft with the lines and maybe a slight cover change
I was a Bridgestone guy for a while but decided to try the better balls after playing the 4 piece K Sigs and liking them. Liked the TP5x ok at first but ended up with the ProVx and I'm pretty set on it. Have loaded up on the prior gen ones recently from TGW at a slight discount I spend too much money on this damn game
Played ProV1x all through high school. Bridgestone and Srixon have improved a lot since then and I go back and forth between those 2. Plus, they're cheaper.
They will putt 3 lines on the chrome soft in a couple months. Right now they are using it to sell the ERC.
