First round in a month or so because work has been insane lately. Nothing like a nice round of golf to just get you away from all the bullshit.
perfectly struck shots will just absolutely sail on me sometimes. Like 20+ yards longer than expected. Happens at least once a round
2019 Masters film starting on Golf Channel for anybody who wants to relive that truly insignificant year.
Gordon hit a PW into 11 today. Hit 8 iron into 2 yesterday. Almost jarred it on 16. Routinely by JT by 30-40 all day today. Filthy.
what’s up with jt’s speed this year? The few times I’ve watched him play the other players in his group were blowing it by him.
I really enjoyed never seeing Reed and Bryson content with them at LIV. Really sucks I have to see them this week.
Anyone had feedback on the Mizuno 223s? They seem more forgiving than the 221s or the T100s, but still have a really nice profile. Don’t need a blade for as little as I play, but I’m just not sure I can go full distant iron. It’s in my head. I know I prob should do like a T200. My old mp32’s were just my favorite iron ever when I actually played golf.
Why did Cam Smith's sponsor logos on his shirt look so bad? They look like last minute iron on patches.
I have a combo set of the MP20 line, HMB in the 4/5 and then the MMC in 6-P (HMB = 225 in the Pro and MMC = 223). I wish I could get to the level to game the 221 blades but love this intermediate step, smaller head profile and buttery soft. Definitely more forgiveness than the blade. My club has a Mizuno rep coming out on Thursday and I’m planning to hit the 223 to see how they stack up next to my set, I can report back if you’d like
Lol we just spent a page talking about Sargent out driving JT. I’m just messing but this thread is so sensitive about Thomas
Overclub challenge in action (Just kidding, unless you are a 15+) Spoiler Overclub challenge was a story from Porath on Shotgun Start from back when he was a caddy. The caddies at the club would have wagers amongst themselves based on their ability to get hackers to hit it over the green. Logic being, those guys base their yardages based on their 1/15 times they hit a shot pure, so these guys (especially older ones) are always short
Haha. I was definitely questioning myself the first couple of times it happened until I saw others reporting the same and was able to replicate it in my sim. No clue exactly how it happens, but you'll get a normal launch with about half the spin. Flyers off a perfect lie basically. The worst is when it happens in a potentially dangerous spot. Nearly put one into a full restaurant patio well behind the 18th the other day with a 9 iron from 155 out. Carried like 185, bounced on concrete, but luckily hit something that was not alive
My nine iron with my 2010 Burner 2.0 irons with graphite shafts tops out at 130 yards. Guess it's time to buy some distance.
wanted to elaborate on this, we played with 2 older guys and one of the older guys pitched in from about 60 yards for eagle on the first. He's been playing for 1.5 fucking years. We played from their tees at 6035yds I ended up shooting 95 which was my best round in years. I def need new clubs though. I've lost 20 yards of distance on them for some dumb reason.

Literally the same set I finally swapped out last year. 12 years was a good run(well, kind of). Ended up with a slightly split set of t200/t100 4-8 T200, 9-GW t100, with the t200s 2 degrees weak lofted to match the t100. Also got a t200 utility build 3 iron which is my favorite golf club I’ve ever owned.
Have the original T200’s 4-6 and HATE them. If you hit the minuscule sweet spot, they’re rocket ships. But rattle like blades on mishits.
A little but they were 2-3 degrees weaker in loft, so it was more like 145-150 for a 9 from 140-145 before
Did a fitting and really liked the feel of the Mizuno JPX 923 HM irons. Thinking about going 4-PW and adding a 5W to the bag. Irons would be new (5W from calloway preowned) and would be the first new golf clubs I've ever purchased. I've had my Taylormade Rac irons for over 10-15 years.
