I played in a sponsored event. 27 hole 2 man team event select shot for 9, alternate shot for 9, and best ball for 9. Wind was blowing 20-30mph all day. So fun but with the wind it took it up a notch. I’ve heard it’s really hard to get on. Spring green fees were gone in 15 minutes. I asked about coming back and they said it’s best to show up day off and hope. Ha
He’s an interesting character. Biomechanics and Kinesiology prof at TWU in Dallas. Did research on the golf swing over the past 15 years-ish and started working with motor learning researchers to apply it. According to Kwon, speed is a byproduct of a more athletic/correct holistic motion created by utilizing ground forces appropriately and in sequence. Which should help both distance and accuracy if done correctly. Things kinda fall in place. Can’t speak to the results because there isn’t a ton of content available outside of shorts showing before/after swings on IG (they look great) and one off full lessons (not much follow up). Full lessons look crazy, and I’m tempted to go do one. Working through the GolfWRX thread now to see if anyone has committed to it and had results. I like what he’s selling and will start messing around with the drills a bit at the least.
My favorite thing about Dr Kwon is all of his technical talks have slides like these, but his in person instruction is basically, "let's dance for a couple of hours, and I'm going to yell at you every time you do it wrong."
New driver did ok. Have to get a feel for it. Had 2 that got away from. Only played 9 but it was a great 9.
Went to Pinehurst last week. Played five courses: 2, 3, 4, 7, 9 and Cradle two times. #4 was probably my favorite course I've ever played. #2 is obviously great too but the walk on that back nine on number 4 is just good for the soul. I made the mistake of reading reviews on the top100courses.com site and learned that my favorite part - the lake between the par 5 13th and par 3 14th - was a Fazio concoction that if not for a limited budget and timeline would surely be taken out by Hanse. Whatever, it was enjoyable especially with the
Humble brag time. Just landed in Kona Hawaii for a week-long family vacation. I'm going to play one round and decided on Mauna Lani South Course. Supposedly great views, with 4-5 holes on the ocean! Turning 40 tomorrow, nowhere I would rather be than on a golf course.
I mean have you been watching? Atrocious off the tee all day, bad on the green. Clark is 3 under let’s pump the breaks
First round with new irons and wedges. Irons felt really good. 5 iron was so easy to hit and was long. Wedges are gonna take getting used to. Then on the way home blew out a tire so that was fun. Don’t pay attention to score up top. I started it late
Seems like all the Monday morning pods are making grand proclamations about Designated Events after a week with not a lot of juice. Feb - April are always going to be the peek season and you aren't going to just keep that rolling forever after the Masters. Only the NFL is capable of pushing their product 52 weeks a year and fans happily eating it up.
Well I took about 6 months off from playing. Probably the longest gap between rounds since I was a kid. Just a combination of raising 3 kids and dealing with sporting schedules. Not to mention I'm semi retired from playing in shit weather. At least while my kids are young. So I took the oldest out yesterday to play the par 3 course at our club. He's six and just now getting into sports. We completed every hole, including 2 birdies from Dad. He had a blast. Focused the entire time, wanted to switch clubs, make putts, etc. Baseball has definitely helped his golf swing and he knows how to connect with the ball consistently. It was possibly the most fun I've ever had with him and completely rejuvenated my interest in the game. Just in time for the Junior Member Guest in June!
That is awesome, we need more stories like this! Glad you got your son out too, a game for all abilities and ages.
I did a course for work not far from there called St James Bay that looked fun but that was 4ish years ago
Windswept dunes is a great track i will always recommend. It’s across the intercostal. Should be about a 20-30 min drive from Santa Rosa.
Holiday in PCB is now called Legacy golf club. It’s not a bad option. Then you have your courses once you get into destin but I’m not familiar with any of them. bay point in pcb has their Nicklaus design course. Fantastic course but it’s way too crowded since they closed their 2nd 18 hole course. It would be a 45min drive one way at least for you.
Shoot your shot for camp creek as well then. If you are staying at a st joe property you probably can
Shot a brutal 85 today at wildhorse in Gothenburg Nebraska. The layout is fantastic, the bunker game is insane. But just not in top shape rightnow.
