In lieu of flowers please subscribe to golf pass.... yeah I was walking around the grocery store and almost fell down
The latest NLU podcast with longtime ham-and-eggers Tim Herron and Jason Bohn is pure gold. Great stories.
I must say the FJ DNA's fit my foot perfectly best arch support i've found ever and the most comfortable shoe I've ever had on my feet.
Bubba sounding very cryptic talking about having off-course struggles and working with a mental coach lately
What’s the back story with this David Bargiano or whatever guy that keeps a medical going or some shit?
This place looks sexy, hopefully it isn't a rinkydink trick course like Paris. (Fully acknowledgement that we are setting up bomb and gouge courses)
I'm caddying for my nephew in a 9-hole junior tournament this weekend. He's 10 years old with potential. Crushes off the tee (I measured a 220 yard drive last time we played), very coachable, all-star baseball team won state etc...This is a first for both of us and I'm taking off Friday to work with him and prep. Any advice is appreciated. I think we're going to focus on his short game and putting. Any tips for carrying the bag are appreciated. Also any books for either of us to read.
This. Hes 10. He can have all the potential in the world, but if he gets discouraged, he'll lose interest. While practicing, create games. Don't just say "make this put 5 times in a row." Do closest to the pins, play horse, etc.
Remember that 9 year olds pout about losing or playing badly for about 15 minutes and then just want to go get ice cream or play with their friends. The only person who can make them unhappy or dejected for longer than that is the adult they are looking too for affirmation, and they’ll remember. Point him in the right direction, but let him make the decisions on the course. He may be wrong, but he doesn’t learn anything if he’s being told what to do at every turn. Have fun yourself. Don’t take it too seriously. Not at least until you and the other caddie start gambling.
Really depends on his size and abilities. I would start here... https://www.uskidsgolf.com/shop/equipment
Anyone play Bay Creek in Cape Charles VA? Trying to decide if which course to play. Leaning towards Arnie's.
There was no way Memphis was going to work next year slotted after the British. That would have been UK, Memphis, Japan in consecutive weeks.
Y’all are taking this too seriously already lol. I bet he’s an uber-competitive kid from your quick bio of him. My only real advice would be helping him through any struggles or bad attitude moments from the inevitable mindfuck that is this stupid game.
I watch more than enough LPGA golf to know that happens at all levels. They mark fucking tap-ins on that tour.
From an individual player standpoint, I agree. For the manufacturers though, it’s a shot across the bow. The CT limit for drivers these days is actually 239. But since manufacturing processes aren’t perfect, the golf governing bodies have allowed for a 10% deviation of that limit to account for manufacturing tolerances. So the *real* limit is 257. Fact of the matter is equipment companies are doing two things that they’re trying to get away with - blatantly manufacture with the hope of getting as close to 257 (and not giving a shit about the 239) and also giving their tour pros the drivers off the assembly line that are the absolute closest to the 257 limit. In essence, they’re playing with fire a bit and the R&A actually has the balls to call them on it. Wouldn’t shock me if they get rid of the 10% fudge factor entirely and make 239 the *real* limit again. That helps with limiting the distance the ball goes, helps older courses stay relevant, and actually gives amateurs a chance to compete with pros because tour issue equipment isn’t longer than standard.
The bigger deal is that it was what 4 out of ~30 drivers failed? That's a pretty high clip to not test everyone. That means probably a dozen players played with non confirming drivers. It's also been suggested that 3 woods are probably all over the limit since they know they aren't tested
The weirdest part of the whole thing is that it’s the same people who argue against bifurcation that are seemingly against testing to see if pros are using equipment that could be very different than amateurs....which is outrageously hypocritical.
