They sunk a bunch of money in the renovation of that course, used to live right off one of the tee boxes

Are there any courses around you that do fittings? I'd try to find a local pro first.

There’s a ton of courses around me that probably do. My health is finally allowing me to start playing again and I renewed my membership at my local course, but don’t think they do it there. There’s several in my area that probably do though.

Speaking specifically just to length, there are some good resources for general guidelines. Length is dependent on your wrist to floor height. Most manufacturers follow the same standard lengths and use similar guidelines on when they add/subtract based on that measurement. When I bought irons earlier this year I used Golf Galaxy just to hit the different ones I wanted and while I was there they told me that measurement and put impact tape on everything I hit so I was able to draw my own conclusions. I’m about 6’1 and on the general guidance I’m on the edge of standard length or plus a half inch; I opted for standard length based on what I felt and saw on the impact tape

Shot 42 on the front today with an unlucky triple on 9. Shot a goddamn 54 on the back.

I had an even par 36 yesterday in the 9 holes I walked. Went for 46 on that same 9 today, largely from a 9 on a short par 4. OB right then yanked it into the hazard on the left. Really fun stuff out there

If you’re like me and want to read a lot/overanalyze yourself, I used both of these links (meant for professional fitters) a ton. The Mizuno one has their general height/length chart. At 6’6 I’d think a safe bet is at least an extra half inch in length and possibly more upright too. Changing the lie is where it gets complicated and you’re better off trusting a pro because every manufacturer has a different standard lie, whereas length doesn’t vary from what I’ve seen

I didn’t think they were different on length but their standard lie is 1 flat from Titleist

Yeah quick google search it will depend on the clubs. I saw anywhere from the same length to .25-1 inch off of other brands (checked MP-18’s/JPX919 vs. Titleist and Taylormade).

bertwing take that into account when testing out clubs.

Played my first full 18 in almost two years today after four hip and back surgeries in the past 20 months and shot a 91. I wore down towards the end and finished double, double, double. Shot a 43 on the front and honestly it should have been in the 30’s but I had zero touch around the greens.

Got my membership renewed today and will be back out there at noon tomorrow. I really need to quit fucking around with these irons though and get some new ones though.

I used to be pretty good, and can still murder it off the tee box... everything else is where I’m ass rn. And I’ve played this course 200+ times as I used to have a membership here.

Why did you need 4 hip surgeries? This is coming from someone who at 39 has had hip injuries and my dad has had both hips replaced by age 60.

Hit 17 greens and every fairway today. Unfortunately had 38 putts. One of the most infuriating rounds of my life.

I’ve had varying surgeries for recurring labrum tears in both hips and had two surgical dislocation procedures and then hardware removal in both. I’m 34 and my first one was at 21 years old and ended my prestigious basketball career

I had 31 yesterday. But played from the tips and had many greens missed and chipped up with one putts. Also holEd out on 18 from 50 yards.

On in regulation half the time, on in 3 the rest for an avg of 2.5 shots to the green is 45. Putt 40 times from there for an 85. That's a nice day for me
