Seriously, this is probably the dumbest argument I think anyone has ever made on this board. And Arkadin posts here
In theory, a cart should always be faster. But, on average, I would bet a foursome walking plays at a faster pace than a foursome in a cart because those walkers probably play golf more often.
That’s really breaking it down. Idk I’ve only ever walked in a foursome in tournaments and some of those rounds were 5-plus hours. Maybe that’s just scarred me
My usual group is 2 other guys and we walk - they push, I carry. We mow down 2somes in carts, and have never fallen behind any group. We are also (average to ) above average golfers in 20s and 30s. If you are behind 4 senior citizens playing their version of the ryder cup, then the answer is obvious.
either way it's unnatural. it's like putting a road through a park and they are rarely done well (hidden).
You also have to remember your balls are going different places so walkers/push carters can both go straight to their ball whereas you may have to drive across the course to get your buddy’s drive he sliced into the shit.
Golf is a game of leisure. Some people don’t think walking is as leisurely as riding in a cart feeling the breeze .
There is a hole at a course in greenville that is cart path only. The fairway is about 30 yards below the cart path on a steep slope. Watching these fatty horrible golfers tee off, pull up to their ball, walk all the way down hit their shot, walk all the way back up, then repeat 2-3x, makes my life happy.
They could also take a club and walk to their ball and be ready to hit while their buddy goes to his wayward shot, but that almost never happens. But theyll still get to the green after taking 30 mins on a hole and read the putt like they are fucking Brad Faxon
If I’m playing 9 alone in the evening I’m walking with a pushcart. Couldn’t give less of a shit what some Travis Mathew decked out 15 handicap thinks
You think paths are bad for golf? Take out all paths on courses and see how much worse shape most are in. Take out paths and carts all together and see how many people leave the game, then talk to me about how bad they are for golf.
I think you're missing the point. In general, we're not debating on whether or not anyone cares if you walk or don't. Most are debating on which way to play is faster.
they are bad for the sport of golf, yes. cart paths are bad, but they are necessitated by carts. i wouldn't suggest having a course with carts and no cart paths. i think there is a dichotomy that exists, i'm fine with courses existing that offer carts/paths, but i think good courses are diminished by them and are definitely not being played the way they were intended. it's a bit bastardized.
Good call in warm weather. In cold weather, I find the opposite to be true. Walking can keep you active and warmer, compared to getting hit with cold wind in a cart. Riding in a cart when it’s mid-40s isn’t fun. Walking when it’s mid-40s is manageable.
I rarely hit good shots that are altered or effected by cart paths. Sounds like you need to hit better shots
Jesus this argument sucks. There are obviously situations where a cart is faster than walking (carry/push-cart), and there are obviously situations where the reverse is true. It is possible for both sides to be correct. I just want to acknowledge IrishLAX2 cuntily dropping a caddy reference. You humble bragging son of a bitch.
it's not a natural experience, golf was born out of natural features and the best golf course architecture emphasizes it and eschews placing hundreds/thousands of feet of pavement throughout the course. granted i probably wouldn't want to walk some flat, uninteresting piece of ground in florida in july, thus i would take a cart and get drunk.
have played in countless groups where 2 of us walk with a pushcart and 2 are in a golf cart and they are never waiting on us. we get to the green at the same time because they have to park 50 feet away and then walk to the green whereas we can just walk straight to the front of the green.
Everyone has 2-3 attachments, umbrellas and valuable belongings they keep in the flimsy mesh pocket that you have to keep up with. When the club stores the cart, anything that goes wrong with the cart in 7 years is the club's fault so we become repair men, inflating flat tires, replacing tires etc. At least the new carts have the solid foam tires. Also at my place it is mainly old rich retired people playing the most golf, they are walking strictly for exercise they don't park the carts efficiently while they play. They will 30 yards short of the green in regulation, hit their approach and leave the push cart and walk up to the green. They then have to walk backwards to retrieve the cart and have wasted an additional 2-3 minutes. Having a shotgun? "That is fine I'll just walk out #7, who cares if we play a 5 hour round because it takes us 30 minutes to get to the tee and to get back after we are done". You would try to give them rides but you can't give 30 people and push carts rides because you don't have 30 cart guys. *If the powers that be listened to me 3-4 years ago when I said let's buy 20 push carts and rent them for 5-10 bucks a lot of these problems would be alleviated and we would make more revenue. This also fuels my rage.
I think for regular golfers, walking will be faster than riding because of the cart going back and forth to the balls and the walking to the green ect. Obviously, solo cart is the fastest.
I blame my powerful use of the word fuccboi. Sometimes I wonder if walking makes you play better. Like maybe you can visualize your shots better by walking up the hole instead of zooming around to other people’s balls.
So we decided that the best golf shoes for under $100 are the Nike ones and to search my local Burlington Coat Factory?
