Not sure if you can tell from the pic the damn thing is 14” tall and all 4 of us got one. Most likely will be used as a beer mug
My bag has been completely revamped over the last 14 months. Last thing i needed was a driver. I went with the Titleist 917D 10.5. I really wanted to get the Rogue, but I just didnt like the feel of the composite. I am sure I wouldve gotten over it/used to it after a few rounds, but I was a pussy
Try it off the ground and look how it goes through the turf and the ball flight with a standard lie similar club. Some people mark on the toe no matter what and end up way too upright.
Getting caught back up in the thread since I am finally golfing again and for those who need Bandon advice just reach out. I go every year since it's easy for me to get to.
Really? I said the exact thing Jimmy Walker did, which is telling a 20 year mini tour vet to “try the game” because he assumed he wasn’t a golfer. Not sure what you’re getting at other than looking silly
Phil is so fucking frustrating to pull for. I never do, but I took him this week and was forced to. -4 on Thursday. +3 on Friday and saturday. -5 so far today. Aaaagh!
So here is a quick recap of my past two days. My goal again this year is to break 80, and I'm slowing progressing in that direction. I bought a season pass at a course called Northville Hills Golf Club, 20 mins outside of Detroit. Opened 18 years ago as a country club, but about 10 years ago they opened it up to the public. It is an Arnold Palmer designed course and one of the best I have ever played. I play there about 2-3 times a week. Played the front 9 on Friday. I bogeyed the first 2 holes and it was looking like a ho hum round again. Doubled the 5th and I was sitting at 4 over after 5. Than birdied the next 2 holes (Par 4, Par 5) and par'd out to finish with a 38. Missed an 8 foot put on 4 for birdie and 10 foot put on 9 for birdie. First 9 hole round under 40 on this course. Went out yesterday and paired up with a guy I have never played with before that was about a 4 cap. For some reason, playing with a really good player and a stranger, made me a little nervous along with having more focus. Bogeyed the first hole (Par 5) then went on and had the best 6 hole stretch I have ever had. 3 Par's and 3 Birdies. I barely missed another 20 ft birdie putt to have 4 birdies in 6 holes. So going into 17 I was - 2 under on the back. I hit the wrong side of the green on 17 and 3 putt for a bogey. 18 was is a par 5, and hit my only bad drive of the day and snap-hooked it out of bounds. Had to play a provisional and 3 putted to end with an 8. Shot another 38, but I was really disappointed with the way I finished. Combining both the 9's I shot a 76. I can not count it as breaking 80 as I did not play the 18 in one day. I understand how fatigue can set in during a full 18, but overall it was a great 2 days. The biggest thing I took away is I have the ability to shoot in the 30's. Now I just need to put it all together in a full round. Putting is the big part in all of this. You can hit a monster drive, great approach shot into the green, but you have to convert with your putts to make those other shots mean anything. I have recently changed my swing (specifically my downswing). I had the classic over the top downswing that many amateurs have. I have been able to somewhat manage it over the years, but I think it was holding me back to take my game to the next level. I have really tried to come much more inside on my downswing and bring my hands closer to my body through impact. I have noticed a more pure iron strike over the past couple weeks. I got this tip after watching some Mike Malaska videos. His downswing motion is called the "Malaska Move", and it has really helped me out. Below are a few of his videos.
I get Jimmy Walker saying it. I thought you saying it after reading the twitter thread was bit retarded. 26 years and 7 wins in Australia is a pretty good career. Had a win on the Euro Tour too.
Made a tee time last week for Sat. Got a text Thur night with an aeration alert. Kinda annoying considering it was too late to rebook somewhere else. There was no other warnings when I booked. Channels in the green balls would get stuck in, standing sand all over the place. Was fucking awful. /diary
I feel like the anticipation for the golf course is almost outweighing the anticipation for a major. Insane how many people were already out at Shinnecock come Friday.
