I think he has something like 6 or 8 events to win enough money on Tour, otherwise he loses his status. So he needs to get it together quickly.
Any of you equipment gurus care to enlighten me a little? I'm currently gaming the stock Alta CB 55 shaft in my driver and 3 wood and an Even Flow Blue in my hybrid. Both shafts say they're a mid flight shaft. I like the feel and extra weight of the Even Flow and am wanting to try out either the Even Flow Blue or Black in the other clubs. The Blue comes in a 55 and 65 model. For a same shaft that has one slightly heavier model, what kind of effect would the added weight have on ball flight? I'm also thinking about trying the Black because I thought the Blue might give too high of a flight for my driver
A little heavier will help with a quick transition. Even Flow black is a low launch low spin shaft. Any idea what your swing speed is? My guess is you would like the Even Flow blue 6.0
The Blue 6.0 is in my hybrid. So the Blue for woods comes in 55, 65, 75. My initial thought was I'd like to try the 65 in driver and 75 in 3 wood, as that lines up with the 85 in the hybrid. Don't have much of a guess at swing speed but I'd say in the moderate range; if I remember right when I got fit last year my ball speed was somewhere in the 130 range. Likely won't help, but this is a pretty recent driver swing. My main concern with the Blue vs Black is the difference in height
IF you have any issues with height I wouldn't get the black. I do think heavier will help so the 65 even flow 6.0 sounds pretty good. Can you get one for a decent price?
Not sure on that end yet. I'm going to talk to the pro at my course as he has been pretty helpful in the past and also check with the fitter I went to. I've looked at some on ebay but those seem to be higher than I'd expect
Have been browsing there too but didn't see the request forum. Seems like most of the shafts on sale there are the GD Tour type
That would be my only concern... paying 150 for this shaft probably won't get you 150 worth of difference. If you are looking for something different you could look on ebay for the Kuro Kage stiff that was an option on the G400. Should be able to find one of those with the adapter for a decent price. If you were going the black route, you could get a 6.0 hzrdus that was an ping option last year as well. Also the Ping tour 75 stiff. Worst case with those you could try it and just put it back on ebay if it didn't work out.
The fitter that my friend and I both went to told him that if he didn't like any part of his driver to come back in and he'd swap it out for him; I'm hoping he'll give me the same sort of leniency if I were to get one of these through him and wasn't thrilled with it. Thanks for all the info
Headed to bakers custom golf in Tulsa Saturday. Really wasn’t a fan of club champion and their pricing. Just moved to Oklahoma and it seemed like bakers had some really solid reviews.
Ha, that's the fitter I've been referring to. Brian is really awesome. He coached at ORU I believe back in the day when Hank Haney was at Tulsa. He's incredibly smart but I will say don't be afraid to speak up if there's something you're wanting to hit or not interested in; he has a tendency to start with some favorites before branching out and he assumes most people are brand-loyal so can get a little narrow in what he tries
Played yesterday for the first time this year. Shot 68. For those with putting woes, I got a Birdie Ball 14 ft putting green (they come in varying speeds and lengths) for the basement. Spent a lot of time down there this winter. It really helped yesterday. First time in a long time that I'm confident with the putting stroke.
The caddies and a young member who is out at shoal creek weekly did not seem too confident in him. I was out there last 2 days. They say he’s grinding but is totally mind fucked
IrishLAX2 pretty sure it was your recommendation...I just finished An American Caddie in St. Andrews. Very easy read but really enjoyed it, quite an interesting life to live for those 10ish years. Thinking I’ll get away from Scotland and get into Course Called Ireland next
He played in the group in front of me at Camp Creek in FL a month and a half ago. Seemed perfectly healthy on the range and course
He was at my place not that long ago. Seemed fine. Haven't heard that is about to set the world on fire but certainly improved from the 45's he was shooting last fall.
Snow finally melted, few courses opened with some 40’s-50’s weather, planned on playing this weekend Snowed today :/
Watched the most recent Feherty with Carson Daly. Most interesting thing was he said he was only making around $70K/year back when he was hosting TRL.
It was fine but yeah, you didn't miss much. He was a kid who did the most with his silver spoon, so good for him on that I guess. Grew up playing Riviera. Tried to focus on golf until college age when he met Jimmy Kimmel and rode his coattails for a bit. Got lucky with being at MTV at the exact right time and then got lucky again with The Voice.
No idea, but I'm still kinda watching it just to see the course. I wince with every divot and ball mark
Extremely impressive. Also, is it the least surprising thing ever that Charley Hoffman is playing well going into Augusta? Seems like he’s almost always the first round leader
Got my tickets in the mail for the PGA Championship today. When I bought them I was a little too ambitious on the days we'd want to go...we are only planning on going Saturday so if anyone wants Sunday tickets I'm planning on selling those ones
Right on. Good enough to tinker with equipment specs. I was really hoping you'd say you were a 16 and then I could just chuckle.
You can still chuckle, I'm self-aware enough to know that equipment is a small part of my consistency issues
My buddy got his new staff set last weekend, so I was the lucky recipient of a rarely used Callaway Rogue D and 3W. Huge upgrade from my 5 year old Callaway D.
