Can’t argue with any of this. Was definitely the inflection point for the match.

Back from my Pinehurst trip. Played The Cradle, 2, 4, 6, and 8. All played in that order. The Cradle was nice but Bandon Preserve shits all over it as far as short courses go. 2 was fun for all of the history but the greens are ridiculous. The views were nothing special other than some monster houses. I don't care to play there again unless someone really wants to play it. Not worth the upcharge IMO other than knocking off a bucket list course. 4 and 6 were playable and had some good risk/reward stuff. Both had much better views than 2 and were fun. I would play them again and again. Especially 4. 8 had a lot of elevation changes. The greens were more similar to 2. Borderline unplayable. I will never play it again. The food at the Carolina was excellent. The breakfast was a solid and a great way to start the day. Food at the Brewery was so so. I liked it but most of the guys in my group did not. I recommend Drum and Quill for a dinner offsite from the resort. Good and pretty cheap. We closed down the basement bar at Dugan's Pub every night. It is a dive but it was prefect for our group. I am looking forward to going back and playing the rest of the courses at the resort and some of the courses in and around the Village.

As far as the room, we stayed at the Manor. Nice, simple, and it has a decent bar. It specializes in bourbon. Overall the resort and Village were very nice and quite swanky. The shuttles are great and get you wherever you need to be and on time. The staff are extremely accommodating and put up with a lot of drunken shenanigans.

Comparing it to my Bandon trip last year. The golf and experience at Bandon is better. Part of that is that the Bandon courses are setup to be playable and somewhat forgiving. They want you to have great rounds. Pinehurst doesn't care if you score well. Both are in amazing condition regardless if they get a million rounds a year on them. I would rather go back to Bandon again (and again) before I return to Pinehurst.

We are already planning next year's trip. Short list is Sea Island, Kiawah, and Reynolds. Any suggestions?

Potential hot take, but kiawah kinda sucks if you are looking for a buddies trip destination. None of the courses are particular interesting outside of the ocean course. It’s geared more towards family vacations.

I’d much rather go to the non pinehurst Sandhills courses.

Haven’t been on a guys trip, but go with family a fair amount and would recommend Sea Island. Staying on site is pretty pricey, but I think they do deals every so often. There are a lot of good off site places to eat in St Simons, too.

The locker room at the Lodge is pretty amazing and having a drink on the back porch as the bag piper comes up is pretty cool.

Only 3 courses plus Ocean Forest on property. But, Frederica Golf Club is a good nearby course you can likely get on. I haven’t played them but also heard good things about Sea Palms and King and Prince

We’ve been vacationing at st Simons for 6 years and enjoy the vibe. King and prince is pretty nice and sea palms is solid for public golf. I’ve been there all times of year and those courses are completely cleared out by lunch time which would be perfect for y’all.

No experience with the sea island properties or Frederica but would love to play them in the future. I think ocean forest is pretty exclusive. I’ve heard the guys practicing out of sea island can’t get out there at times unless they have wins on tour.

yeah, I should have elaborated about Ocean Forest. I’ve never played it, but heard it’s amazing. It’s a private club gated off from private island it’s on.

Played Ocean Forest a few years ago a few times. It immediately went to the top of the list of favorite courses. Locker room, caddy, course, top notch

Last time I played greystone I drove it over the green on hole 1. I assumed by ball kicked right onto the range so I dropped, but ended up finding my ball on hole 2 about 150 yards in. Ended up being like a 450 yard drive.

Wife surprised me with a long weekend in Sea Island the 2nd weekend of December for my birthday last year and the weather was perfect.

Think it was mid to low 50s when we woke up each day and got up to low 70s or high 60s.

Fog rolled in the last day on 16, and it was pretty eerie. These two pictures are 2 holes and maybe 25 minutes apart.

Kiawah is still absolutely awesome. The single nightlife and depth of courses just isn’t great unless you’re willing to drive into Charleston or get onto the couple private courses on the island.

The new muni 20 minutes off the island is legit though. Definitely plan on including that. It’s likely better than all of the on-island public courses minus the Ocean.

Not sure how hard they are to get on, because we were with a member, but Cassique and the River Club are a both great courses if you can swing them in Kiawah.

Also, if we’re comparing Kiawah to Pinehurst, I actually think activities beyond golf favors Kiawah even if you don’t go into Charleston. I find the Kiawah clubhouses, bars, and food options better than Pinehurst. Freshfields is better than the small village of Pinehurst too.

Pinehurst has far more breadth and depth of courses. But Kiawah still has more to do IMO.

Would love some feedback. I have a Scotty Cameron Studio Design 1 that I just got refinished by Scotty Cameron, but I don't plan on keeping. I am considering selling it, but I don't even know what to consider pricing it, and Ebay hasn't been very helpful. It hasn't been used since it got back, has the COA, the custom and the original cover, and looks like this. Any help would be appreciated.
