If charlie woods somehow does not burn out on golf he is going to be absolutely incredible to watch when he gets to his like 20s
If he ends up wanting "that life" I just worry about the mental side. He'll have more eyeballs and cameras on him than any athlete. So many expectations and outside influences, etc.
Btw...not that he'll need a penny but if he stays with golf, he's gonna set records on what he could make via NIL if he wanted to.
Unpopular opinion: It’s cool that Charlie is playing in these tournaments and is really good, but he’s 12 years old. Twitter, Instagram, etc crowd being infatuated with him needs to end. He’s young and should at least have some semblance of growing up normal.
He’s playing this event once a year. It’s not like his soccer games are being broadcast or some shit.
I’m looking into joining a course. Has anyone debated the merits of joining a waitlist course vs one without? Right now, the #1 course I’m looking at has a 2 year waitlist while a close second has no waitlist.
Ty Webb has experience in this! But really though...kind of a weird question you're asking there. I mean, if you're joining a course, I'm guessing you're planning on being there for many, many years to come? I'd make sure I get in at my preferred one regardless of a year or two waitlist.
I don’t think it is that simple of a decision. The close second is 45 mins away vs #1 of 25 minutes. If they were in the same location #2 would easily be the option as it has 2 courses - both of which are great. I don’t think I would ever live near #2, but if I left the city I would live near #1.
A 2 year wait where you play munis/public courses but end up joining the place you really want to for potentially a decade+ is well worth it, at least it would be for me.
Also, I don't know the particulars on why there's a wait for one and not the other but that's typically telling as well.
Didn't realize Joe Lacava's son was on Charlie's bag. Genius move by the Lacava family. Set up his son for a potential loop. Buy in early. Savvy.
Have not been watching and truly couldn’t care less but fuck John Daly and it has nothing to do with this golf tournament
Her brother Seb that got a picture is the 41st ranked tennis player in the world at 21 yo as well. Pretty awesome.
The pnc is such a great tournament. As a newish dad, made me can’t wait to get out there with my son. So refreshing.
Planning a golf trip for late-March - any thoughts on (Alabama) Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail? Buddies had the Golf Trail planned but COVID cancelled, so they’re inclined to set that back up. We did Barefoot in Myrtle previously but are open. Trying to keep travel/stay/play around $1,000ish per person.
Did a golf trip down there a couple years ago. Played one course in GA since we flew into ATL but the rest of the trip we stayed in Auburn and played 2 RTJ courses and one other course. The RTJ courses we played were Capitol Hill (Judge course) and Grand National (Lake course). They were both great but I'd rank them the order I just listed them. The absolute best course we played, wasn't a RTJ Trail course though. It was FarmLinks @ Pursell Farms. I 1000% recommend playing there if you're anywhere around the vicinity.
Basically have to commit to playing Pebble either once or twice depending if you’ve played it recently
Big fan of the trail. My advice would be go to Birmingham. There are like 5 trail courses there and Pursell farms is amazing as someone mentioned. It's a destination imo. There's a great Birmingham thread here that helped me a ton. You can do it for way cheaper than that as well depending on where you are traveling from.
