rest of the shots must have been awesome
It was 9. Also played pretty well on balls that stayed in play.
if you lost a dozen balls and only shot a 52, that would be impressive.
The reports I read stated that the caddies were taking the Covid precautions pretty lightly. If some of these golfers have to withdrawal because their caddies acted like idiots, I sure would be pissed if I was the golfer.
Fucking caddies have no livelihood if they aren't on the bag in tournaments. Amazing that they are the ones bringing this all down.
Does the PGA Tour not have enough pull (money) to get each player/caddie/coach/whoever tested every single morning that they are playing?
Maybe I am grossly oversimplifying it but I would think they could pull this off and obviously everyone involved needs to be isolated from the public as much as possible.
rapid tests that would be needed to do this kind of testing aren’t 100% reliable.
I guess my point is that the above system I described should remove a huge portion of the risk and at least keep them playing. The PGA Tour could easily partner directly with Abbott, Quest, Cigna whoever to tailor their own daily testing program. Money is not an issue for them.
Obviously nothing is completely safe other than staying inside your home and not interacting with anyone else. Every major sport needs to do this. Each player should get tested every single day and interact with a doctor daily.
Golf to me is the easiest bc really the only people that should be interacting within 6' of anyone else is the player/caddie.
Kuchar ahead of the curve on treating them like shit.
Other caddie-related aspect is that there’s not enough room on the charters for all of them to fly that way. Some need to fly commercial. That adds a ton of risk.
and, you know, means there is no bubble.
It's crazy to me that the solution to re-starting was to still fly across the country to various courses, with various levels of COVID exposure, various levels of vacation destinations, etc. and assume everything was going to be fine.
Since the majority of golfers live in Florida, couldn't they have re-started with a 2-3 month "Florida bubble" like the NBA? Weekly tournaments between Jacksonville and Miami from June 10 to August 10. No flying in and out of tournaments - if you live in Texas/abroad and want to participate, fly in once and out when the "bubble" is over. Hotels booked with all the players and caddies and no leaving hotels at night other than going to the hotel restaurants. Testing every day, etc. Seems like coach caddie travel, the willingness of players to "lockdown", etc. were all majorly underestimated hurdles and now you have the commissioner trying to justify a half dozen positive tests already.
It's insane to think about CFB teams traveling and all that will entail.
totally agree. the tour could've done this relatively easily imo.
I think it's pretty telling that a healthy looking Tiger has decided to sit and wait it out...
I think they were trying to pay off what sponsors they could. RBC previously hosted two events, so they were probably towards the front of the line as far as getting on the revised schedule.
Also playing in Florida in June and July is not ideal.
Lastly, places like Texas and SC went from being low risk when the schedule was planned to now high risk.
I do still have a few TrumpBux sitting around...
I’m sure all shoot 90 next time, because golf.
My last 5 rounds have ranged from 82 to 95, so I feel that too much.
Tiger is playing in the next couple weeks.
I'll believe it when I sees it.
He’s been playing, so I am hopeful. This tweet cracked me up with Charlie watching him tee off.
he'll play The Memorial
Watching the 2000 Open and never knew Duval was slow as shit
I don't see any way that happens. The PGA Tour has done everything possible and can't make it work.
Put a few bucks on Jt over Rory and Rose over Xander for first round. Got plus money with Rose and Even with JT.
My swing broke today. I topped two drives and skulled the fuck out of two wedges.
good thing I get to go out tomorrow and do it again!
Keep your head down bitch
I guess idk. Going to hit the range in the afternoon and try to work it out. Getting a lesson when my irons come in next week
What did you order?
they just felt the best
Wasn’t sure if I should post here or the Barstool thread
If COVID is being transmitted on the range at tour events think about what is happening at every course in the country.
willing to bet this is leaks in players ‘teams’ from going out and not being cautious as opposed to player to player spread.
That would mean I will soon have the course to myself!
Faldo is a fucking clown
That was really weird. I did chuckle at the thong comment though.
Him trying to get back at Brooks is lame in itself but if you're gonna be petty, wait until he misses a cut instead of a week where Brooks stepped up and made a tough decision in the best interest of everybody on the tour
Here for the Faldo hate. What’d I miss?
just some run of the mill passive aggressive snark from a guy who clearly isn't butthurt
What in the hell. Him going with the “fascinating” line is pretty funny again after Brooks gave him shit for it the first time. The guy sucks
Was Faldo a likable player? He was a little before my time.
just read the "Personal Life" section of his Wiki
Married first wife at 21, marriage ends 5 years later because he was having an affair with his manager's secretary.
Marries the secretary, has her stay in England while he moves to the US in 95, later that year he has an affair with a 20 year old golf student.
3 year affair with the 20 year old ends when he marries 3rd wife (who left her fiancee for him.) 20 year old batters his Porsche with a golf club.
3rd time's a charm right? Nope, divorces her in 2006.
This was my favorite part: Socially, he was a 24-handicapper.
Sounds like Faldo has a little tiger in him, except he marries the chicks.
No wonder Faldo and Nantz get along so well. Apparently like to ditch their wives for younger women, before divorcing them.
Meh. Faldo is okay. He knows what these guys are going through. He is a bit douchey at times but he’s better than Norman. His time was awful.
