They really aren't that bad of a deal if you can get the course to get a few. 500 bucks up front then they split the rentals with the company.
Me and a buddy were drinking beer, talking, hitting some extra putts and still played 9 in like an hour.
If you do get one, make sure the tires are all terrain. I got one stuck in a trap the one time I used one.
Played today in it. 9 holes were right on the bay and the breeze was nice. The other holes were hot soup though. So fucking hot.
so I guess I saw Morikawa play at Stanford's The Goodwin tourney back in spring 2019 college golf is pretty awesome
Played the oconee club yesterday for my dad's birthday. Tee time at 950a. Wet as hell and humid and hot. Was even par through the first four. My shirt felt like it weighed 20 lbs due to sweat. No towels due to covid and my glove was soaked. Couldn't grip the club at all. Finished with a tidy +25 97. Helped my handicap for tournament tomorrow though. Went from 11 index to 12.
Are you only playing with 1 glove in Georgia in July? I bring 3 and rotate and they still stay somewhat wet on the back 9
I do 1 glove in FL all the time no issue. I also don’t wear a glove on anything inside 120 yards and don’t sweat a ton so that probably has something to do with it
I pulled an old glove out of my bag and rotated about 10 holes in but it was too late and my head was mush. I have a rain glove but couldn't find it. Will buy one in the morning before the tournament. I'm fairly long but my in between wedge game is so garbage it can turn birdie opportunities into triples in a hurry. After being even through four, I piped a drive 300 on no. 5 and had 90 in to a back pin. My sandwedge needs to be regrippeds bad but I haven't done it due to covid. Club slipped and I shanked it right. Wound up making seven. Next hole was long down hill par 3 with water around 3/4 of green. Was so afraid to lose it right I missed way left and made 6. That is my golf game. So streaky. One bad shot and I'm mentally fucked. As long as I play to full swings Incan run off a string of pars and chances are birdie. Get too cute and it goes off the rails in a hurry. Went 84 to 97 in two rounds. Ugh...
Should probably avoid driver on holes less than 400 yds if you’re hitting driver 300 and suck with wedges. why not hit a 3 wood and then have 9 iron in?
Just got fitted for a driver that I feel really confident with. 3 wood not so much. Plus on that hole I outdrove bunkers. Edit: I'm the most frustrating 15 handicapper. My margins are huge.
get to play Seminole Legacy Tuesday. It just opened a couple months ago and went from public to private after Jack completely redid it. Last week of July my buddy and I will be playing Farmlink, The Judge and Grand National
I’m the same way. I also sweat through gloves way too fast that the standard FJ ones don’t last long at all. Trying out the Costco gloves because at that price point I’m fine with cycling through them as needed
12 of us did the all day pass and played 36 today at Sweetens Cove. A buddy of mine got Mannings cart from the match with Tiger, Brady and Phil. Pretty cool. I guess they shipped it up there since he’s now a partner. It was hot as shit. Hit it well until the last 9 when we were playing 6-somes. I kinda lost focus and started running out of energy. undrtow, you see what Taylor and Mikey did today in the Metro at Signal? That’s stupid good.
I get it. Hitting 300 yd bombs feels awesome. I fuck myself regularly by hitting driver when I should probably tee off with a long iron because I a also have a shit wedge game. There was a time when I first got my new clubs that I teed off almost exclusively with my 4 iron on Par 4s (and some par 5s) because I hit it so long. Had quite a few consecutive rounds in the 80s which Degausser can attest to is rare for me. Then I got confidence with my driver and my scores shot back up because I was having to rely more on my wedge game. It’s hard to leave a $500 club in the bag when you’re hitting it well.
Oh, man you are me. I had a 3 iron I loved but don't have one now. I have a used set of T2s i got on eBay that was 4-pw. I have a 20 year old hybrid I won at a tourney that I hit about 225 but the bad miss left is really nervy. No. 1 tomorrow is a 339 par four up hill. I really want to hit the hybrid... A lot will depend on format. Tourney is called "choker". Three of the four play scramble with the fourth playing his own ball and score is aggregate. I don't get a stroke on that hole so I doubt I will be alone. Driver it is.
The course I normally play has a few driveable holes (if you’re long) so I always try to drive them and it seldom works out for me and I always fuck myself. One is #10. It’s 340ish from the blues but down hill so probably plays 310 or so. I drove it once so if course I always have to try. I usually end up with bogey.
Dude, we need to play together. My home course has an uphill 289 par four with the smallest dumbest green on the planet. Ultimate risk reward and so tempting. Even if I lay up with 4 iron in the middle you have to drop it on a dime. Short are bunkers galore and long is dead downhill to OB. For some reason we all flex dick with driver.
God bless you. When I played Kiawah it was all hole to hole. The wind and elevation is so nuts that an amateur of my ilk just can't keep a score. I did birdie once so fuck everybody.
Idle hour in Macon. Mercer home course. Mother fucker is par 70 but can't go 6 holes without opportunity to buy drinks.
I did. I've following all day on the app. Taylor's round was great from start to finish. I saw Mikey was 1 under through 9 and thought Taylor would coast home tomorrow. Typical Mikey he got hot and closed with that 29. I'd wager all of my money on him tomorrow
Literally did that in no. 2. Hit a thin cut 8iron from 137 bunker that pissed my brother off. No, I don't hit an 8 iron 137 but from the bunker that's what I chose. Made the birdie putt and royally pissed my brother. He of course made up for it and beat my ass on 18. Ghin said he should have given me 9 strokes but he only agreed to four. Fuck me.
I think it's 17 that plays into the wind. It's a par three that most hit driver and can't reach over water because of head wind. I piped three wood over by 50 yards and has to pitch back towards the water. Hole is only like 180. I caught no wind but hit it pure after my group hit everything shot in the water. Such a frustrating course but totally with it.
Btw when you go to FarmLinks set aside some time after the round to stop in the small town that it's right outside. There's a damn good pizza joint in their downtown. It's where I discovered that honey on your pizza crust is next level pizzaing.
My home course has a hole like this. Woods lining a creek to the right, creek that runs halfway across the hole and wrap around the backside of the green, and woods to the left of it but some room for a miss as long as you don’t hit cart path... with a bunker on the right and left edge of the green. It’s either 3 wood or driver every time depending on the wind.
Try MG gloves. Bought a couple to try size and then got 6 more delivered today for 40 bucks. And they are a great glove
Never heard of these but I’m open to anything. Someone said it a few pages back in here which gave me the suggestion but the Costco gloves are cabretta leather 4 for $20, if they’re durable at all then that could be hard to beat
