As a cynical bastard myself, I’m loving it. Great story, seemingly good dude. He’ll fade away soon enough. He must still be walking on clouds though.
Budget friendly and gets the job done as long as I don’t have the shakes from shenanigans the night before
+1 going into 15 today on my home track. Favorite stretch of holes on the course with two reachable par 5s. Thought I was going under for the first time in 15+ years. Choked big time. - 175 in on first par 5 after monster drive. Bogey - 3 putt the par 3 for a bogey - ducked OB on next par 5. Triple - routine par 18 for a 78 At least the HCP takes no damage
After everything that has happened in the last few days, there is no way Block makes the cut right? He has to be exhausted both physically and mentally.
Colonial is short-ish and narrow-ish so if there was a week for him to do it, this is one with a good opportunity.
Golf is so fucking dumb. Snuck out again for a late 9. 33 / -2 Started off really average. +1 through 4. Shitty tee shot on par 3 fifth that ended up being an okay miss. Holed out chip. Decided I had a chance to make a number and focused my balls off. Two more birdies coming in and a clutch 12 footer for par on 9. Feels really fucking good
Great story, insufferable guy. The whole “oh gosh did I make *another* birdie?” act on the course always felt uncomfortable.
Block could easily make the cut, he has made the cut in a PGA tour event 5-6 times. He has played in 8 majors and like 24 PGA tour events. He has his PGA of America membership, but his job is basically just to play golf every day. He isn't running outings, answering the phone in the golf shop, and getting shit on with the day to day grind. His club has a director of golf, and 4 other PGA members on property plus another 3 instructors.
If you’re gonna tank all the goodwill you’ve built up over a week at least do it on something bigger/better than a podcast on Rumble
He couldn't control the PGA machine milking him for every drop of content possible this week, so I don't begrudge him there one bit, but the fact he seemingly said yes to every possible podcast and interview only made the tight-rope that much longer to navigate He said on the broadcast he hasn't taken on a new client in like 5 years and mostly just teaches his buddies when he does, he definitely has absolutely 0 in common with the typical club pro.
Block claiming his short game is elite as he shanks a chip from the fringe all the way across off the other side of the green
I couldn't get DraftKings to accept my substantial wager on him missing the cut :( This might get ugly
Insane heel turn in just a couple days. Entire thread was cheering him on like 72 hours ago now shot by shot updates lol
It’s the problem with instant fame. Feel good story, then people dig into your background, and you become an easy target to dislike.
I don't hate him or anything. But he didn't die a hero so he's going to become a villain. It just took three days for the turn
There's just too many outlets for content these days that everybody has to get their claws in on something that becomes an overnight sensation and it all becomes oversaturated. Also didn't help that he seemingly had no desire to say no to anybody and milk his 15 minutes of fame.
