More rural than not ideally. I get a bunch of time off around the Christmas holiday so my brother and I were thinking of driving south and golfing for a couple of days. Are there any awesome courses out "in the middle of nowhere" that we should check out? Just looked up the location....looks too close to Dallas. Looking for more rural than that.
Finally in a decent spot with my driver swing. Going for a little tune up lesson this Sunday morning and then have an appointment for a fitting for new driver and 3w next Friday after work. All options are on the table after using these g10’s since forever. My anus is slack and accepting.
This was going to be my answer. The better courses in the state are going to be in the Tulsa or OKC areas (the Winstar is just a couple hours south of OKC), but if you're planning holiday golf, Oklahoma can be pretty cold around then; this might not bother you coming from Nebraska, but the courses will be dead and brown.
So I was trying to figure out best way to do this. So I’m not going to a box store and being fitted by some dolt, going to a legit fitter. But I don’t want to be the guy that just gets fitted and then walks out. Was thinking of buying the 3w from then and then finding the driver online.
Make it seem like you're between two/three options and want to do some research on your own, and tell him you will get back to him with a decision. Then ghost him or like you said get the 3w from him and do the driver on your own.
There’s not really anything great I can think of between the northern parts of the Metroplex & Winstar, but that’s only a distance of about 50 miles too. Other good ones are Tour 18 in Flower Mound & Cowboys Golf Club in Grapevine.
Honestly if you pay a fitting fee, which you more than likely will if you dont purchase the clubs on the spot, he wont give a shit. They aren't dumb and they know the drill.
just bought some, at the very least it gives me a couple dozen I won't be upset about losing in the desert at Angeles National
My ass was really chapped today. I got off work a little later than I wanted to. Went to the local range at 605 who sells balls till 615. Wouldn’t sell me a bucket because it gets darker earlier now. Tried to go to the golf galaxy store that no longer exists. No nighttime ranges or lighted ranges around me. Sucksssss
Golftec but they charge too much for only being indoors imo. I will only get fit where I can hit outdoors because I don't trust simulators as a sole solution. Therefore the best option is actually not in Omaha unfortunately....its here https://m.facebook.com/Pro-Fit-Perf...53174920254/posts/?ref=page_internal&mt_nav=1
Eh lincoln isn't a bad deal, was expecting a link to some place in KC. I'm hesitant about just indoors as well, I have had a simulator tell me I hit a 3wood 300 before.
This would’ve been my suggestion. Never played there but I’ve heard it’s a great course and I really can’t think of anything else in that area that’s kind of off the beaten path.
@1 does it have to be that area? If you want something really spectacular Boot Ranch outside of Fredericksburg is very secluded and the course is first class.
I should qualify my statement earlier; the Winstar resort is a popular enough place that I'm sure they maintain the course very well, and November/December can be mild enough to where it would still be a good place to play. It could also serve as a good place to spend a night on your road trip south or back north as it's a giant casino resort
No cut and over a 9 mil purse on top of that too. Nice little christmas bonus for traveling to bang some 18 year old k pop broads and play a little golf.
Looks to be too far south. Not really wanting to go south of I-20. Dallas is 10 hrs from Omaha for reference. Thinking of driving down on day 1. Golfing wherever for 2 days. Driving back on day 4.
We have some Chattanooga guys here right? I played in Huntsville this afternoon with some guys who just played Sweetens Cove and were raving about it... said it was 30 bucks for 9 public course and it is great.
Central TX to Omaha in one day is plenty doable (I've done Austin to Des Moines about 10 times) and you want to be farther south than north Texas for holiday golf if you're already committed to an 8+ hour drive
Snow at that time wouldn't be crazy. Any wind at all and theres a coin flip for miserable golf temps.
Yeah. I haven’t played it but have 2 buddies who like it so much they always play 27 when they go. It’s set up pretty unique for the area. I’m sure your friends told you but from what I know it’s kind of like a hybrid links course. A bunch of wide fairways, knobs, and bunkers and the greens can go on forever. I’ve been playing all the local pro-am courses in my free time so I still haven’t gotten out there. Playing The Farm in about two weeks. Excited about that.
Average high in Dallas and Austin is the exact same during the last week of the year when I looked Miserable to you and to me might be different. Of course it'd be great if it was 70 degrees but 45-50 wouldn't slow us down. The average temp where we're at during that time of year is 28.
Yea that’s great if it shakes out that way. Just saying there’s a decent chance it will be too cold/windy to play. There’s a chance it could be like 70 though just a heads up though.
@1 look into this place. It's an hour and a half from Dallas in East Texas, and in the middle of nowhere. It's a pretty affordable place too. It's all about the golf and not super fancy or a place that is rolling in money, but it's really quality. Dallas Morning News ranks it #20 in Texas http://res.dallasnews.com/interactives/texas-golf/ https://www.pinedunes.com/
Not sure if youre interested in coming to Arkansas, but this course is pretty fun and nice. Its about 30 min from the OK border. Just a thought http://www.glenwoodcountryclub.com/course/
Possibly. I'll check it out. Ideally what I'm thinking is that we'll play 36 holes at a course one day and then 36 at another on the second day.
Okay, let me know if you need any info on it. A group of us play in a tournament down there once a year.
One of my old instructors from Jr golf was just named #2 teacher by Golf Digest. I always thought he was a pompous ass back when he was a nobody. He's got to be insufferable now
