Played today and made 10 pars, 8 bogeys on a par 71. Didn't make a single putt outside 5 feet. But it was a beautiful day to be out there.

We've had a ton of rain for SoCal in the last week. Accordingly, the course played soft, very soft. I built my driving game on a 220 yard carry that ran another 30-40 yards on a sweeping draw on firm and fast fairways. Every ball today was a mud ball, splat and bounced 10 feet.

In my next life, I'll be six feet tall and able to generate speed.

Firmed up our annual winter trip to mid pines. Excited to see the southern pines restoration, the routing was always incredible.

    Friday: southern pines x2
Saturday: pine needles and mid pines

Anyone have experience with golf mats? I'm looking to pull the trigger soon in one for the backyard. I'm thinking 4x4 country club elite based on initial research

I had a cce and it was a little tough on my joints, which I noticed was some feedback from the simulator junkies. A popular brand on the golf simulator forums was from wittek golf supply. I’ve had it for about a year and you can’t even tell it’s been used.

I’m getting a Wittek for my home sim once that whole thing begins. Gets great reviews for balancing realistic penalties of fat shots and not hurting your joints

yeah I think the witteks seem to simulate the most realistic launch conditions if you really get into the weeds. Cce is still a really solid mat.

had the cce and went to the wittek. I didn’t word that well.

wittek much better on the joints imo

Sorry, which Witteck did you get? Quatro seems like the play but they have 2 that are $100 less that I thought I might be able to get away with

I got the Quattro. Think it was close to $400 shipped. I believe it’s 5x5

Damn, they're $400 before shipping currently but based on some Google research I'm going with Witteck vs CCE so I appreciate the info. Injury prevention is #1 for me

I haven’t verified it yet myself but this is supposedly the direct Chinese manufacturer of the Wittek mats…

    http://www.yuhegolfmats.com/m/list.php?tid=2

The YGT-3D is the Wittek Quattro. Apparently you can order directly through them and it’s cheaper. A few folks on Golf Simulator Forums have done it.

Everyone I've talked to in the sim community who had a CCE with the exception of one person ended up injured. I've heard mostly good things about the Quattro as well but a couple of people have had issues with it. So far the only zero injury mat I'm familiar with is Fiberbuilt. I have a FB strip and have been injury free since switching to it, but I hate it. Thinking about trying the Quattro

Cougar point, osprey point, turtle point, ocean course, and one other is what the resort offers

I enjoyed it. Also went in expecting to shoot a huge number so I didn’t get upset when that came to fruition. It is extremely difficult, especially with the wind blowing

The Ocean Course is incredible. Absolutely worth it. The other resort courses are kinda meh and don’t justify the price tag. Turtle Point is probably the best of those.

The new Charleston Muni 20 min off island is better than any of the resort courses minus the Ocean. Play it.

With not playing it but seeing a lot of commentary on it... It is a very very difficult course and won't necessarily be a fun time for a novice especially if you don't play the appropriate tees. Playing the right tees is very important to the level of enjoyment.

The more modern big time public resort courses are more forgiving where high handicappers still can have an enjoyable round without losing a single golf ball while also testing better players.

I’d also recommend the River Course, if you can swing it. One of the cooler locker rooms I’ve been in. Barrel ceilings and just a cool spot to hang out. While it’s not the same feel at all, the only comparable locker room I’ve been in is the Lodge at Sea Island.

I had a friend who came from a wealthy family and he showed up to a golf trip this fall with a PXG Staff bag and irons. He was oblivious to the brand other than the guy was always shouting on commercials. I showed him some of their other merch and his face was all
