It’s a mild take IMO. Three guys have a case. Rahm was hit early. Hovland hot late. Scottie was great all year long but less victories and more top whatevers
if Rahm didn’t have the masters I think this much more likely. But 4 wins with one being the Masters to Scottie’s 2 and his ridiculous top 12s isn’t as close. But certainly not a run away win
If you have the means, I would echo what others have said and look at some new drivers. Even just 10 yards and slightly less dispersion would make those approaches so much better. And I say this as a short hitter myself. I’ll never bomb it like some of the guys in here. and with the ways the drivers are adjustable, you should be able to compensate for any minor swing changes going forward once you’re able to work on it just my 2 cents from a short hitting shitty golfer
Getting out of the Texas heat and golfing in Michigan on Friday with my dad. Gonna play like shit but I’m very excited
Just got back from Casa de Campo for our annual Ryder Cup trip. That place is a blast. Whew I’m tired.
Finau was 21st in the qualifying rankings. Sucks more for Keegan who was 11th in qualifying, and Cam Young who was 9th.
Went to the range this morning. Bent a little more at the knees, stood closer to the ball, and teed it lower. Seemed like there was some improvement. I actually paid attention to where on the face I was making contact. Had a handful roll out past 260yds. Of course that all typically changes when I’m on an actual tee box. Playing at the Coronado muni on Thursday. Hopefully some of it translates.
I just started tracking my driver distance this year after getting the Garmin S70. I'm 47, left-handed and have a bad right hip that needs replacing so I can't really get after it like I used too. I average 249 yards off the tee which is roughly 10-15 yards shorter than all of my buddies. Where I make up for the lost distance off the tee is in my set of strong lofted irons(Rogue ST Pros) which offsets the driver distance loss some. I stopped chasing distance and just try to hit as many fairways as possible. The game is a lot "easier" when you're hitting out of the short stuff more often.
This Jack Smith dude reminds me of the teenage kid at the local club that you could pay to try to drive the green for your team in the scramble. Looks like he's barely swinging at it and it just flies. Kyle and Martin are fun to watch on Instagram but Jack seems like the dude you'd want to play a round with.
He’s been ass, my dude. No reason for him to be on the team outside the fact he’s boys with the others.
If he and Spieth do their thing, it’ll all be forgotten. But if it doesn’t go well, Johnson is just going to be brutalized
I feel like Finau and Young are right there with JT in that their form hasn't been great. Cam has turned the corner of late but was on the side of a milk carton for half of the year. I get taking the more experienced guy in JT, but it would also make sense to use this as a chance to get Cam experience for future teams.
Yeah I think it’s one of those decisions that is both defensible as well as you sure as shit better be right
