The other team is gonna have a guy on it named Adrian Meronk. I think selecting Justin Thomas is reasonable.
the US teams having ‘chemistry issues’ over the past few years is more because tiger and Phil sucked up all the energy and put guys on eggshells, not because JT is some lynchpin.
Everyone please think about Jordan Spieth’s feelings if he had been left off. He would have had a cry.
Never thought I would take up for Keegan, but here we are. He's right. It's an absolute joke that JT is on the team. The lack of meritocracy involved is maddening.
Keegs is one of the least liked players and the most difficult golfer to work with. And that is coming directly from the director of player relationships.
Eh there’s a huge difference between not picking the best golfers each year and picking someone who’s been complete ass all year just bc he’s friends with a couple players
The captains and the players themselves feel they have a better chance at winning with JT vs Keegan Bradley or whoever. Fine by me. I'm not a world class golfer or going to sit here and pretend I know what it's like to hit those shots or be in that team room.
The European “team camaraderie” has more to do with their upbringing of playing way more match play team golf than youngsters in America play growing up. Not personal relationships.
He's also 6-2-1 in the Ryder Cup...and was one of the few bright spots last time we traveled to Europe. 16-5-1 when you combine Ryder Cup and President's Cup...
Lol at not running the JT Spieth first out combo until the wheels fall off that points bus. Second, as stated Rickie (or Keegan or Cam) is basically going to be asked to beat a no name Euro in singles, maybe need to make a putt or two, and be a good teammate off the course. Rickie is the guy for that. Also Cam Young is good, but it’s not like he’s proven it in big spots already. Keegan, that guy was in the wilderness longer than Rickie and was last in the Ryder Cup when we were a spectacular shit show. This wasn’t rocket science…
JT just recently put on a show when he was incentivized to play well, his record also speaks for itself
he almost holed a chip on the 72nd hole to barely miss moving up to 70th in the FedEx cup points standings.
There was a way for Zach to make the pick defensible, but sounds like the press conference was a complete disaster and he wasn't prepared to defend his picks.
Feel like that’s ultimately bad for LIV. It keeps them in the game for now as you can do them all, allegedly, but feels like it cuts them off for new players. What’s the incentive to play LIV? Team game?
I don’t think anything should be viewed as “good or bad” for any particular Tour at this point. They’re all working together. There is no winner or loser here, at least among the Tours.
Had my best ball striking round in a long time. Putter was bad but I attribute that to not playing a round in months. Absolutely crushing my driver
Ran a tournament today at PGA national on the champion course for my kids soccer club. Someone got a free car with a hole in one prize. It was on 17, 180 into a 2 club wind and a tucked pin. I think 6 people hit the green all day. I was not one of them
96 showed up with was far more than I expected. Made like $7000 in mulligans, raffles and auction so should be like 20-30k after sponsorships and golfers. Didn’t rain, everyone had fun. So good day
I wondered how much money tournaments like that made clubs. I was at PGA Fields Ranch last weekend and Audi had the whole place, both courses I believe, booked from 8 am til mid afternoon on a Friday. That must've cost a mint.
We paid $200 per player for golf and dinner. I think the breakers was like $300 for just golf. I don’t remember other prices I got
One of the highlights of my work at a local golf course was driving the new car on the course and out to the par 3's for tournaments when I was like like 19.
