thought this would be a good question for you guy: So with my new job I am doing some traveling, and will be traveling throughout the summer. Had a thought to bring my clubs with me when I go to places, get a round in after the work day finishes. Do any of you have experience traveling with clubs? Is it just the standard bag check fee? Any golf bags that you might recommend?
I have a Samonsite hard case with spinner wheels that I like a lot. It was expensive but I didn't want to go cheap for a soft case. Yes, it's the standard checked bag fee. What airline do you fly? Southwest's 2 free checked bags includes golf clubs. I fly United a lot so I have a United credit card that I'll book on and it includes a free checked bag; all the main airlines have a deal like this too.
I use American Airlines alot as they have a ton of flights going out from Cleveland, also have used United. Ultimately I dont care about paying for a checked bag, company reimburses me for expense as long as its a normal fee. So if its a standard checked bag fee I can slide that off to them. Was looking between Hard Case and Soft Case, obviously the hard being more expensive so looking at all options.
I travel with my clubs when I travel for work. I just charge it to my company's corporate card since its just a bag. They don't care one way or the other. I just swipe my clubs and carry my bag on. Theyd be paying a baggage fee otherwise so I dont stress over it. With that being said, I have a SKB hard case for my golf clubs. Its been with me for 20+ years and still in decent working condition. Only thing that sucks is that my staff bag doesnt fit into to it so i have to downsize to my Ping Hoofer bag when I fly.
Maybe if ping made bags like they use to and were durable, I wouldn't have upgraded. Plus I don't walk near as much anymore and like the extra space the staff bag provides and its durability.
Have never really bought into a lot of the training aid shit out there - did recently pick up the “power package” stupid ass name fwiw, but it has helped me in a big way. Have always struggled with my takeaway and setting the club. I tend to get it pretty shut and across the line when I really struggle. Would highly recommend this to anyone - gives you immediate feedback and you can hit full shots with it which is great. Vid below.
That's why during the draft I questioned resident Euro lover IrishLAX2 when he took Pepperell since he only plays over there
I always chuckle that they have to stick with the elevated long range shots of the beach coming in and out of the commercial breaks.
Just moved to VA and can’t get motivated to think about golf when it’s 35 out. Supposed to tour a course in a few weeks. Hopefully can get out to play in March.
Been wondering since the Sony and Oberholser talked about it on Shane Bacon’s pod...that one week was the only trial they had with to do in-round player interviews. He said the Tour wouldn’t budge on letting them try it out more than that. Also talked about the players being pretty open to it and how they had a good strategy for timing, basically it was only him and Bones that could do them since they’re in tune with the good and bad times to talk to the guys. Hopefully that plus the success of the player mics on the Web will work in the future
PGA Show update. I saw Paige twice, took 1 picture of her which I will post later. The finn motorcycle is amazing. Tour striker as a new training aid you should all buy as well as a blast motion sensor if you like practicing your putting. Anyone that has any specific golf club questions I've hit them all. Also sat next to a guy at the bar who started a company called open rounds. Basically private courses can list their dead times and offer them to unaccompanied guest play. He said he has 100 courses right now and 5 top 100's. You would have to be a member at one of the clubs signed up to be able to use it but I thought it was pretty cool.
The original tour striker helped me learn to cover the ball for sure. Once I had used it I knew the right feel for when I got the right shafts in my irons. Ginormous leap in my game in a short amount of time.
Saw a bunch of people I follow on ig using the tour striker. I assume you are talking about the bungey cord strap? What’s it help with? Saw some guys talking about too inside on the take away which is something I’ve been working on.
Update on this. It(ER5) arrived Wednesday and I fucking love it so far. Love the feel and sound of the putter. I know some reviews said it made an annoying noise but definitely doesn’t bother me. It’s heavier than my odyssey7 but not a bad thing. I just had to shorten my takeaway a little. The only downside of the putter is the two dots on top. Kind of hard to see, I’m contemplating filling them in.
He's so good. I love his game. He's silent bc he doesn't move the needle. Straight white bread. But his game is so good. After all he has done he is still underrated.
Spieth and Reed paired together and featured on PGA Tour Live...that could be worth the whole subscription cost in itself. Tee off at 10:10 CT
