Just saw a guy wearing a WVU shirt and it says great WVU games. It spans from 1922-2006 and only has 4 games. Sorry 5
So I'm having problems whipping my hips through on my downswing. I rotate at the shoulders and arms only causing a nasty hook or slice, depending on contact placement. When I pull my hips through and forward I look like Lefty himself. What drills can I do to force that motion?
Heading to Denver in a few weeks and needing some recommendations for a public course to play. We were going to play Aarowhead but they are hosting a tournament. Also looking at Bear Dance. Any other recommendations would be appreciated.
I'm by no means where you guys are. I'm trying to self teach myself, along with lessons occasionally to see what I'm doing wrong. I shot a 49/52 today on the course at the house. 19 strokes from OB or trees from lefty hooks or slices....but also 4 pars and 4 bogeys. But playing by myself more so to practice with real shots rather than the range.
I’m blanking in his name but the guy on the Asian tour had no problem rotating his hips. So just be like him
Commonground or Murphy Creek are a good time. The Ridge at Castle Pines is a nicer course than those but the greens were absurd and I did not enjoy.
I was struggling to break 100 at the end of last year. Could hit amazing shots but terribly inconsistent and lost balls like crazy. Got it into mid to low 90s in the spring before buying a skytrak and net return. Been hitting 50+ balls per day for about 2 months. Last two full rounds I shot 86. Over the holiday weekend I shot 40 on 9 on Friday and 41 on the same 9 Saturday. Played the first five holes again and was +2. Weird but was playing at Jackson country club during their club championship so I had to play the third 9. I've gotten to where I feel I can make bogey from pretty much anywhere. Getting up and two putting when I miss the green is more or less assured and I'm getting up and down nearly half the time. Pretty amazing turn around and feel more comfortable on the course than at any time in my life.
not sure what you're asking necessarily. Off the tee I was a complete mess. Had no confidence and a two way miss. I've mostly eliminated the right miss. My big miss is now a snap hook but I aim right and mostly can play my ball now but with a really long second or punch out. My hit rate is now around 50% of fairways and when I hit them I'm generally 280-300 off the tee. Iron play and short game have gotten so much better. My long irons save me now on shitty tee shots. If I can get my fairways hit toward 75% I could maybe be decent. Still a long way to go.
I guess those scores on the nines line up with that. With what you described you're already better than I am. Most of my strokes come from three putting and poor chipping, plus two blow up holes. Without the blow up holes I'm right around 80. I'm a 9.5 right now.
I don't know about that. My short game and putting have improved dramatically though. Rarely three putt unless I play an outlier course. Generally fare better on faster greens. I'm probably between 12-15 handicap at the moment. My goal is to break 80 by next summer. Shaving the next five strokes will be the hardest so far by a long shot.
Think I fucked up my left wrist today during my after work round. Shanked a drive and as soon as I made contact with the ball I nearly dropped the club from wrist pain. I was messing around with hand placement as my round was complete shit and clearly that was not a good idea. It was on 16 so finished the round and didn’t have much pain but putting pressure on the wrist does not feel great at the moment. Not playing again until Saturday so hopefully just tweaked it and I’ll be good to go but I’m already having anxiety about potentially not being able to play for an extended amount of time
Anyone watch the Open '99 documentary? The bar cut scenes were brutal but overall pretty good. Wish Golf Channel would do more of these
I use 18 Birdies and it seem aight Free version. Sometimes takes a sec to get the yardage. Can put in club distances for a virtual caddy.
Tour schedule for 18-19 season. Will be interesting what happens to the playoffs as far as how many qualify since it's cutting to 3 events. I'd imagine they'd keep the first event at 125 but possibly up the number that make the Tour Championship?
Took till July for my friends/Clutch to tell me that while my shoulders are pointing towards the target, my feet have been aiming left
New schedule is interesting - March is brutal. Starting next year, three of the five PGA Championships are in climates that can be dicey in May. Will be interesting to see what courses get into the rotation from warmer weather climates that wouldn't normally be in play (I.E. Texas, Florida and Arizona).
I would think Champions, Bluejack National, or Whispering Pines in the Houston area could host a PGA Championship.
ColeTrickle I've been looking at those UST shafts to possibly try out but I'm clueless when it comes to clubmaking. Golfworks has options on there for tip/butt trimming and also tip prepping, do I need to do one of these in advance or would any shop here where I'm getting the shaft installed be able to handle that?
Whispering Pines is just too remote. Its 85 miles from Houston in the middle of nowhere, just doesn't have the necessary local infrastructure for an event like that. Champions would be an option but the other course would get chewed up pretty good, tough sell for membership. Bluejack definitely has a shot, but its like 40 miles north of Houston too.
How was Sonnenalp? Supposed to play mid-august. Its dry asf up there now but I drove buy it saturday and sunday and it looked nice.
