You're best bet is to drive to Atlanta Sunday. Stop and get some dinner somewhere cool. Then head towards Augusta for 45 min or so and get a hotel in Covington or Conyers GA. You can wake up in the morning and have maybe 1:30 min drive to Augusta and it is a straight shot with little traffic. I've gotten hotels for sub $100 there.
It might be that long, but that is the threshold distance where you aren't paying Atlanta hotels and you aren't getting jacked up rates from the Masters near Augusta.
Youre looking at ~110-120 miles from there. Dont think you would have to drive that slow. https://www.thelodgeonlakeoconee.com/ http://www.qualityinngreensboroga.com/ That puts you about 70 miles away from Augusta. Id just rather stay in Atlanta (adds 30/45 mins to your drive), anything Midtown/Downtown so you have a quick exit out of the city that morning. Lot more hotel options, better area, dining options, etc. Its really not that bad of a drive anywhere along I-20. Could also look at Athens hotels but its a little out of your way.
Probably my favorite of the 20 or so I’ve played in Colorado since I’ve been here. Course was in great shape. Greens were spectacular and extremely quick...I’m a big fan of fast greens. Feel like every course in CO is just top notch this time of year
Second Fossil Trace. FearMySpear and I played Colorado National Golf Club the other weekend, but that’s about 30 minutes north of town. In the city, try Commonground or Willis Case.
Just planned my second trip to Scottsdale in 2018. This time going in early September where it looks like the rates are about a 1/3 of what they were in January when I went. I'm playing at least two days. THoughts on where I should play? Troon and Stadium?

Won the Golf Channel league last week and won this. Spoiler I’m out of town so the wife had to send me the picture.
2 times I've gone to Masters I've stayed at Ritz right there and at I believe Lodge at lake oconee. Play Cuscowilla while there. Awesome course. It's a quick and easy drive to the tourney. We had a driver but I feel like if we drove a car we could have found a pay lot pretty easily.
Yea I wouldve suggested Reynolds but didnt want to jump the shark. Parking used to be easy to find, but the National has bought up so much adjacent property and streamlined the entrance/security that it makes sense to park through them. But they do have a pathway for Uber/Lyft or walkups from Washington Rd.
It's a concept called math. Take your usual yardage at sea level and figure a 15% increase playing in Denver's elevation. A wedge that goes 100 at sea level, will go 115 up there.
Shot a 40 in the opening week of my league last night. Hit a lot of putts just like I wanted but couldn't get any to drop.
Turn on Golf Channel streaming of the Scottish Open and hear Feherty and Bones talking they've got the A team out already
Yea we played Cuscowilla and we played 3 Reynolds courses - 3 rounds each time. Reynolds courses are great but there is just something about Cuscowilla that I really like but hard to put a finger on. Yes both times I was with a corporate group picking up the entire tab. It is an awesome trip. I didn't get the invite in 2018 but I bet I get the 2019 invite. Let's hope.
Had a work conference in June at the Ritz and I played it while there. It was a beautiful course. Shot an 85, which is pretty good for me.
Big time amateur question here: why do I suck so much more from the regular grass at my club’s driving range than I do from the mats? I can’t make any sense of it and it’s driving me crazy.
I’m not good and notice that off mats I sometimes hit behind the ball and still get solid contact. Bouncing the club up off the mat into the ball is my guess as to why that happens.
