Golf Thread 2.0 - Zach Johnson hates you and your family

It’s another hole but that hole is on another 9 hole course that’s closed and used for parking during the tournament. It makes no sense. Bay Hill has 27 holes.

 

I hate Bryson but we gotta stop shaming the big right miss.

 

It’s not OB. It’s not OB any other day of the year either.

 

If it’s right of a damn fence it should be OB. Not just saying this because it’s Bryson. I like Bryson but that should be OB.

 

Lastly, if your ball lands in an area where spectators have to show their grounds ticket to proceed into the gates, it should be OB.

its the only thing I can give you shot about golf wise. you shot par from the tips facing your buddy on a course you have never played before

If Rory shoots 66 does he win? Probably not. Bryson is the best of the top 3. I don’t see Keegan going low again. Tommy? Jordan is winning the masters so probably not tomorrow.

Thick rough seems to have little effect on Bryson when he's playing well.

 

Well that sucked. Saturdays are so much more fun than sundays.

 

His wedge is the length of a 6 iron. That leads to more speed through it.

 

Same for his 3 iron. I'm aware of his uniform iron lengths. Doesn't change the fact that he just muscles through it.

 

Not sure of the advanced stats but it feels like Bryson putted his ass off and was mediocre with his wedges. I’m sure the conditions today probably had something to do with the spotty wedge play.

 

It changes the fact that it makes it easier to muscle through it for most shots.

 

Went to the Memorial a few years ago and the ease at which the pros hit out of the rough was one of the most amazing things.

 

Being able to judge the jump (flyer lie) is an unappreciated skill and another example of why Tour golfers are witches.

Nope. Jordan has won 3 majors. Comparing him to Finau based on the last 5 weeks is dumb.

 

I’m saying his game is currently at Finau level, as in competing every week but not seriously competing at the end of the tournament. Of course Jordan is better than that, and I hope he puts it together soon, as this is the best we’ve seen him in years

Had a tin cup moment on Sunday. Played a course for the first time and got to 18. Par 5 with a 240 carry to the green on my second shot. Wind in my face about 15-20 mph. I play it a little left and catch it good and it goes OB into the woods. After examining that shot, I tell myself I can make the green. Drop one, smoke it but it has a little cut and comes up just short in the water by the far right bunker. Drop another and it gets away from me way right into drink. No one is behind us so I drop another. Then my buddy gives me the “you better make it this time Roy” line. Hit it perfect and it comes up just a few yards short of the green between the bunkers. I’m done with the hole since my score is ridiculous so I walk up to chip really not caring, take a practice swing, hit, and the ball takes 2 bounces into the cup. Fun way to finish the round.

 

My driver doesn't carry 240.

Most pros aren’t trying that

 

It was probably around 10 when I was hitting. The tree line knocked a lot of the wind down. We were having the same wind the pros were having at AIP over here in Tampa. The hole before this was a par 3 over water into the strong wind. Probably a 2-3 club difference.
