Guys hate to break it to you, but this event will be awful as a live spectator. Have fun hiking those dunes to chase around 4 groups on the course at a time. Be thankful you didn't waste your money.
Fuck that. I wanted to have a reason to tell my wife that this drinking trip was waaaay different than my other drinking trips.
My wife feigned sadness for me, but inside I know she was probably excited I wouldn't be going on another expensive golf/drinking trip
Haven’t done Ryder Cup, but Presidents Cup tickets in NYC we’re less than face value the day of with scalpers.
Went to RC at Hazeltine 3 yrs ago. I'm glad I went and had a blast but didn't even want to try to go this time. It's unreal atmosphere and if you haven't been it's still worth going once imo. With that said, you don't get to see much golf at all. Just a crazy amount of people for so few golfers on the course. Also in listening to the NLU guys who were just at Whistling Straits...they were saying how it will be even harder as a spectator compared to Hazeltine just because of the nature of the course. In terms of tickets...I got mine thru the lottery last time so I paid face but I remember looking at StubHub and the secondary market wasn't cheap especially for actual match days. Practice days were much more reasonable and tbh there are plenty of advantages to attending a practice day over a match day anyway.
I’ll keep an eye on the secondary market, still gunna go, just not spending $2k+ per person on tickets alone
Phil just almost got a hole in one on a par 4. Ball hit the pin and bounced off about a foot from the hole.
Played 9 holes for the first time in a month Wednesday. Had a full on hosel rocket shank on a par 3, about 70 yards right. Made 3 bogeys and a birdie for a 38.
Out of town for a work event. Had a nice lengthy dinner with a ton of wine. Got a draft IPA to go to finish the night and thought I had timed it perfectly to get back to my room and watch the Tigre skins match.....realized it doesn’t come on until 11 ET.
Played 18 with my older one today. Everything I hit was a club short which was painful because the greens were large and undulating. I must have hit ten 30’ putts with at least 3’ of break during the round. My kid changed the range finder to meters and I didn’t notice until I was thinking about the round after dinner.
Nevermind...she's at Oakmont. For some reason, didn't realize their logo and Omaha Country Club were basically the same.
oh ffs. those arccos tracker things that Ping was sending out REQUIRE you to keep your phone in your pocket while playing. Umm. Fuck that.
I keep my phone in my pocket because I use a gps app and it helps me know distances to the back of the green and visualize my shots, especially when I’m playing a new course. I’ve also got the gamegolf tags, which are similar to arccos, but you can use it without your phone if you want.
The part on these Arccos sensors that twists into the end of the grip is quite a bit thicker than I expected. Makes sense that they'd have to be to stay secure, but after this free trial when I take the sensors off, will it mess up the grips?
Guess we're still congratulating MODEVIL on his fantasy win based on the thread title that hasn't been changed in 2 months.
looks like NLU is doing Tourist Sauce in South Carolina....I would guess also in North Carolina. They played Secession Sunday. Can't wait for that episode.
Doing it in a nice field, too. This tournament, along with last week’s, must throw some serious cash at the players to come play in them.
Both purses are close to $10 million, basically on par with a WGC. Last week was a no-cut event too. So yes, there’s a lot of money to be made so that the Tour can make a stop in a huge market
