This Paul Azinger video last year completely changed my putting approach. Super simple but has nothing to do with your technique but more of your thought process before making the stroke. This video is a private video only to GolfPass members, but here it is, bootlegged and all. Basically putt like you trying to hit a plastic cup, bucket or trash can instead of trying to have the ball drop into a small hole. My putting improved big time this past year, and all I was trying to do was hit the damn plastic cup.
His tip to try and hit a putt with the top third of the putter has saved my putting in the last couple months
I play golf with my almost 5 year old about twice a month and he is now talking shit to me on the course. “Was that another three putt, Dad?” “That was a chili dipper, Dad” “Did you mean to hit it that far sideways, Dad?” Yes, big man, I meant to do all of that.
Anyone ever played down in Hilton Head/Bluffton, SC? Headed down there for a wedding this weekend, trying to get a round in Friday morning/afternoon so any recs would be appreciated.
I played Harbour Town over Labor Day weekend. Course was great and pretty fun playing a Tour stop but depending on green fee it may not be worth it. Heard really good things about both other courses at Sea Pines and they should be quite a bit cheaper
TeeOff.com getting bigger?!? Doesn't surprise me. I mean, with the affiliation with the PGA plus their competition lacking in many ways, I guess I can see it. Good for them!
The Prince of Ponte Vedra better get off his ass and get more GoldPass subscribers if he wants to keep up
I've just been catching up on the newest season of adventures in golf and holy shit that Norwegian course Lofoten Links looks amazing.
Can anyone recommend Orlando golf? Looking for a public course to play on a Monday when I am down there in January. I've played the Orange County National courses and a couple at Grand Cypress.
Harbor Town, heron point, RTj course, Arthur Hills all worth playing can try to get exotic go to Dafuski for a round... If you have anyone in the wedding that is local try to get a round at Wexford, Colleton river or Berkley Hall, well worth it and other than HT they are in another league.
My 2 year old would ride along with me a lot this summer too. Would always say "well that wasn't a very good shot" or "why did you hit that tree dad"?
Harbor Town was always on my Bucket List. Played it a few years ago. Final 3 holes are amazing and fun to play a Tour Course, but likely better courses on Hilton Head. Grew up playing Melrose and Bloody Point on Daufuskie. Miss those courses. Believe Melrose went into disrepair during the recession but some guys kept 9 holes still in shape.
My family has a place outside of hh and I take a group down there a few times a year -the sea pines courses are all top notch but you will pay for them. Heron point may be my favorite of that group. - long cove is my favorite on the whole island but it’s the hardest place to get on even with connections. Super private and stuffy. - the wexford/Berkeley/Colleton course are phenomenal but private so you need help. - of the public courses my favorite is old south right off the island. It’s a little quirky but always in good shape. I feel like it’s one of the best values, kinda linksy in some stretches and parkland in other with some nice views. A course of the commoner. Under $75 and super laid back. Not a ton of traffic and always fun. - Hilton head national right down the street is always good. - bear creek is an old course with some wear and tear on it but the greens are so pure every time I’ve played. - I haven’t played the Arthur hills course but my group hated the fazio course that’s part of it that group. I’m playing May river and staying at palmetto bluff in two weeks for my birthday. Pretty pumped to say the least.
If anyone here is a mike strantz or Tobacco Road fan, the golfers journal just did an awesome podcast on the two.
Appreciate the recs guys. The reception is actually at Colleton, but we were looking for something a bit more casual/didn't want to have to call in any favors. Booked a tee time at Old South....$49 can't beat it. Most of the wedding party is also staying at the Hilton Garden Inn which appears to be literally across the street. Will update thread tomorrow when I break the course record.
That sounds perfect. I think that’s going to be exactly what you want. No houses on the course, you can do whatever you want to out there without any riff raff. The last two times I played there we had the entire place to ourselves. One was a Friday afternoon and the other was Saturday, which is moving day and people are either leaving or getting in and the courses have less traffic.
Berkeley Hall has one of the nicest practice facilities I've ever seen. If you are calling in favors, I'd suggest Secession or Chechessee (edit: I read further down you have made your selection).
Anybody played at Omni La Costa near San Diego? Have a conference out there in January and am pretty excited to play their two courses. https://www.linksmagazine.com/update_la_costa/
Unfortunately not. It usually alternates from East Coast to West Coast. How close are you to Boca? I might be able to make up a reason to go down there for work.
