I'm not going to litigate the case in this thread, especially when you're very clearly just espousing LIV's position, but I disagree with your legal assessment, and the premise by which you bring it.
If getting the top players to commit to their league means allowing them to remain on other Tours, I don’t think LIV would turn that down. To my knowledge, they’re not preventing their players from playing in any other leagues. If that’s the case, how hostile are they being other than simply bidding way more than anyone else can?
Those talking points are easily countered legal theories. They're only the "obvious state of things" to people making the most surface level arguments in the court of public opinion. Not allowing independent contractors to work for you if they work for somebody else, or requiring that they remain exclusive if they want to keep working for you, is a standard business term.
It’s funny you mention stance. Previous years with wedges I’d have a severely open stance with the ball off my back foot trying to flight it down with every shot. Ran into some consistency issue. During a session with my coach he was watching me warm up. I always start with my feet about six inches apart and just casually hitting wedge. Suggested I just do that.
Greg Norman has been extremely hostile in his comments and actions. As has Phil Mickelson. The only reason they aren’t keeping players from playing other leagues is because they gave them billions of dollars to not have to.
plus they’re required to play 14 events next year, plus they’ll play the 4 majors. Those guys aren’t playing in regular tour events any more even if they’re allowed to. So LIV can say it’s about freedom to schedule all it wants but these guys talking points have been they don’t want to play 20 weeks. Well, guess what that’s what they’re playing now. They’re done with PGA events
Less speed will keep the ball down, keep your feet close together limits your ability to create speed. You can put it back in the stance and try to get hands really forward but that really takes away your ability to use the bounce. Works for some people but not consistent without a ton of skill and repetition.
rory hasn't really changed his opinion. wasn't he caught on a hot mike talking about how it would be great if they could get just get the saudi money into the existing structure?
Sorry to break up the LIV talk, but my wife has become a club whore. She’s up to 18 clubs now after adding a 7, 9 and 11 wood this week. lol.
it was a very forthcoming interview he gave yesterday in Scotland. Basically said that he holds no ill will to the players that have gone over to LIV. He thinks ultimately the LIV money is good for golf and they should figure out a way to work something out. A complete 180 from his previous stance and a pretty big contrast from recent comments by JT and Billy Ho.
I think the PGA guys being most vocal have a problem with LIV being a rival tour that could (theoretically) take away TV rights dollars from the PGA etc, not the Saudi aspect
There’s a lady we play with regularly that everything is a fairway or hybrid all the way to what would be 8-iron.
I was one time. Do you mind if I play through? No we’re in league, you’ll just run into the league. Well its taken 45 minutes to play two holes and they’re a few holes ahead please keep that in mind.
These false reports are meant to just soften the idea for guys to eventually go. And it will probably work for some.
Also Old women play slow, old men play slow, young men play slow. There’s slow players at every age, gender, ability level in this game. There’s also fast players in the same groups.
Slow play will always ruin the day for me. I love the guys who spray the ball all over and then read their putts from both sides of the cup to try and save bogey. Just get up there and fucking putt the damn thing. It's why I bit the bullet and joined our local club 6 years ago. I no longer could tolerate 5+ hour rounds at a public course. Now I tee off at 7:30 on the weekend and am done by 11:00 or I can run up there after work and easily get 18 in before dark. The time saved alone is worth every penny.
I think my club let too many in during Covid and I’m now seeing some brutal times on the member course
Arcadia was extremely picturesque, but the course conditions weren’t good enough to justify the price tag. Also there are 3-4 bad golf holes. The south is a better course imo
Golf channel went to commercial, came back and showed 2 shots, then showed the commentators talk about the weather, then back to commercial. it’s why you’re on the verge of failing, PGA.
