Muirfield’s website says they allow visitor play on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and I’ve got NB on Tuesday so that doesn’t work very well. Planning to reach out to them to see if they are flexible on that at all fully expecting to get told no
got my Vegas trip coming up next weekend. Not a whole lot of golf planned, Just "2" rounds. Buddy I'm going with doesn't really want to golf so not sure if I can potentially add in something else last minute. 18 at Bears Best and 12 under the lights at Angel Park Cloud 9.
Heading to kohler to play whistling straits and blackwolf run in May. Can’t freaking wait. Anyone been or have any tips?
Honestly, every course in the US could look like that if the maintenance crew could have a little pride in their work. What's special about that? Cut grass in straight lines? Add some mulch in areas that aren't conducive to ground vegetation growth? Plant flowers? Too many midwits running golf courses these days. Augusta is what you get when you have real americans doing the work and realer americans telling them what to do
Working on a July trip out to Colorado. Kind of depends on how much my uncle will actually want to golf. I'm planning on either driving there or driving back so that way I can Hit one of the western Nebraska public courses unless I can weasel my way onto one of the privates. Lineup would be One of Wild Horse, Basyside or Awarii Dunes. Kind of leaning Bayside so that way in may I'll run out during my week off stretch and hit Wildhorse and Awarii in back to back days. Then in Colorado line up would be something like Common grounds by myself and then The ridge at castle pines and Fossil Trace.
Take the afternoon and play one of the other 18s after you play blackwolf run. Excellent tracks, just as much fun as whistling.
I’d play Bear Dance over the Ridge, and something like Fox Hollow over Common Grounds. We’ll, actually anything over Common Grounds.
Played plum creek and bear dance last august. The group I played with told me to go play the ridge and the Raven.
I have Peacock so no big deal, but did NBC really just not let the ANWA finish on TV so they could start the Valero? Edit: it got moved to the Golf Channel but is called something else on the guide.
Been brutal watching Rose today. That decision on 15 was crazy, missing the short birdie on 16 after stuffing it 5 minutes later too.
Awarii was fucking trashed last year. Literally unplayable. Not sure what it will be like this year but I'd be shocked if they didn't have residual damage. Spoiler: This is sad. Practice green and 8 fairway In June they were only using 3 greens and they still had the 6ft gimme circle around them. Even when it's in good shape it's not half the course of WH or Bayside. Can't go wrong with either because the courses are incredible but Bayside's carts are a joke. Aftermarket GPS that beeps and tells you to return to the path, when you're on the path and shitty soft sided coolers that leak. For $100/round they don't pay attention to the little stuff but the course makes up for it.
Rose went for it in 2 with 3 wood, up 2 shots and dunked it. in position to win in this playoff though, as Jenny Bae has made a mess of 10, but has a putt for bogey. edit: she won. Good would have been tough seeing her blow that lead.
Have you not played any of the western NE courses? Bayside is worth playing if you haven't before, especially if you're driving by on I-80 and have the time but it's not near the course Wildhorse is. Wildhorse is extremely special. If you are willing to drive off the interstate to McCook, Heritage Hills is a very good course. A "hidden gem" of sorts is Centura Hills in Cairo too.
I haven’t played any. I drive to Colorado all the time with my dad so he can visit his parents and brother. Everytime I see tons of courses and I’ve always wanted to make a trip to play them all. But obviously want to try and play the top ones first obviously.
My course sets up as a par 3 course for a member tournament every year before the Masters. Question: does a hole in one from this “count”? (No, I didn’t make one. Came really close on what is normally a par 4 9th, though.)
Cool. I assumed you had before. There's plenty of great courses out there but Wild Horse is without a doubt the cream of the crop. Both NLU & The Fried Egg have done in depth videos on it so since you've never been it'll be fun for you to check those out before you play it.
We actually had this discussion yesterday in my group but with an Exec course. I think it counts but you should caveat it
I haven't even played johnny goodman, I'm usually a solo most everywhere. I only have one buddy who I'll actually go play different courses with me, but its usually planned many months in advance. So like we've had landmand planned since January(although you kind of had too).
Got Conners at 80/1 a few weeks ago for next week. Love to see him dominating before playing his favorite course.
Titleist T100 Ping i230 TaylorMade P790 Can get the 790s @ 40% off and the others at cost. Going to get fitted regardless, but curious if y’all have experience with either set.
If you’re good enough to game the Titleist irons you should give the 770s a try instead of the 790s imo
I wish I had a professionally produced piece like this on my own aspirations as a junior golfer that explored the futility of it all. “Here we see Paul pretending to make this 5 foot putt 100 times in a row, each for a Masters win in his own mind. Little does he know, he’ll only get offers from tiny schools, end up getting a soulless job in tech, and be a shit golfer by the the time he hits 40 years of age”
