The US has won 8 in a row. For reference, on the Ryder Cup side of things, the US once won 12 of 13, which then caused the British to add Irish players to their team. The US then still won the next three, which caused them to change the format again to include all of Europe thereafter. So yeah, we’re getting to a point where a format change was needed due to a lack of competitiveness anyway. Making it a mixed event would be really, really interesting. It would also change the unofficial brand of the event for US golf fans away from “Ryder Cup lite”.
Just depends on the definition of "close" in this instance. The Presidents Cups scores have been closer than the RC but the same team has pulled it out in the end each time. Whereas the RC has been on a trend of blowouts but with the home team exchanging the wins.
Signed up for the Ryder Cup lottery for Rome. 250 euro per ticket though which is about double what I paid for tickets in 2016 in Hazeltine. Not sure if I will even with how expensive it will be, but wouldnt mind winning the lottery and having to make the decision
Drink beer, watch golf. I'm not a huge golf connoisseur but I've been to this course 8-10 times to watch rounds. My preference is to angle for good seats greenside at a hole that's not necessarily going to be super packed and watch most of the groups from there (6th hole is my usual spot at Quail). From there I jump ahead in the course and do it again.
Went to my fitting today. I thought I wanted the P790's. Then I tried the Mizuno JPX 923 Hot Metal Pros. They are hot, but have a nice, tight dispersion. Big fan.
Peter Millars run slightly large but I feel are true to size. The 21-22 are slightly smaller than they have been in the past. They still run larger than B Draddy, Holderness etc. Unless you are really thin you will like Peter Millar.
The US could win this in a blow out but the International team may be the team with the least to lose like ever. The format will favor Internationals keeping it close and the US winning comfortably on Sunday, but if the pressure turns up on Sunday, it will all be on the Americans.
Taking a group of 24 to Bandon next week. Anyone who has been have any recommendations on where the best places to eat are?
Fuck that sounds awesome and stressful. We ate on property for all meals except one. We went into town and and cheap seafood at a dive that was on the water. It was delicious. As far as on property. Get the meatloaf. Also get the Korean breakfast bowl at the Bandon Preserve/Trails clubhouse. Nothing else was memorable but everything is very good.
The only way to survive is I said everyone needs to show up at the punchbowl at Sunday at 5pm. Get out there however you want. I organize the pairings and games but meals guys can pair up however they feel and do whatever they want.
Do you guys see a lot of used Scotty Cameron putters for sale in your areas? I just started checking, and in the last two weeks I have picked up 3.
Pacific Grill is great, McKee’s is solid but good for what it is. If you’re trying to get a table you’ll definitely want to make reservations, when I was there in April guys in our group ended up eating in town at like 8pm because of how long the waits were for tables. After playing 36, I preferred to call in an order and they’ll deliver to the room, usually only took 15-30 minutes
I see tons everywhere. Especially at golf Galaxy where they have 2010 futura x’s in 7.0 condition for 409.
Does anyone who rolls a Scotty want the hat that they current have in their store for members only? They still have some available and while I don’t want one I can mule one for you.
I definitely didn’t send you a mark meadows books. But yeah I have a bear dance ball marker for you if I can find it.
Will be back on Sunday. Going to be very good atmosphere tomorrow and Friday. Friday after 2 pm could be off the charts good. Everybody I know is going and expecting to be belligerent.
I usually play 9 and shoot 48-55. Playing a decent round, content with a ~52. Hit a 40-footer on #9 to get 49. Immediately book a tee time to do it again
Missed the member sign up this year. Not a big fan of anything they dropped yesterday but if you get your hands on any multiples in the future I’d be interested
The madness has begun. The journey is long and mostly unfruitful, but when the harvest comes it is so sweet.
