play however you want play caveats aside, I agree with you, especially if I’m playing a round where I’m able to “practice” and hit two balls. Still always play the first for a more “accurate” round. Still wouldn’t use it for handicap purposes but I’m with you
That's what I consider the 2nd shot, a real life practice shot vs just hitting at the range. Also usually hit them because my first shot sucked, lol.
but hey, if someone wants to play a one man scramble, they can have at it. Just don’t hold people up but yeah, it’s definitely after I fuck up the first
Leave for Kiawah Friday night. Playing as well as I can going into it. Means I’ll shoot a bunch of 87s.
Donavon on hole 3: “heard you requested me on the bag, who recommended me?” portlandspartan ”my internet friend IrishLAX2 remember him?”
I’ve actually had him out there for a bunch of rounds and we played a round at Charleston Muni together a couple weeks back. Just tell him it’s the sad Notre Dame fan who watches ND get boat raced in the postseason at King Street Grille with him. He’ll know it well.
my personal hell would be hitting one into the water and then having my second shot be a hole in one spending the rest of my life having an * on a hole in one is worse than having none
Would’ve been incredible theatre had you made one on your sixth tee ball on number 17 at Orange County National
I know. That would’ve made it even better! What could’ve been a smooth 11 would’ve actually been a provisional “ace”. Lol
Had my best driving round in a while. For the past year I’ve been trying to hit a controlled fade off the tee with mixed success. Finally said screw it and went back to my natural draw. Hit 9 of 11 fairways and 8 of 14 GIR before being rained out. Game is so much more fun when you’re hitting from the fairway off the tee.
One of my best friends has been playing for about 15 years and his only hole out was a re-tee on our Wednesday night Mens League where he topped the first one into a ravine, and the 2nd landed just left of the pin on the slope and it trickled down into the hole for a par. His best golf is definitely behind him, but during our Tulsa trip this past summer he finally got his first ace (Jigga) and got so hammered he couldn’t even finish the round
It doesn’t officially count if you don’t finish the round right? Helluva troll by his playing companions stuffing him with Transfusions.
Just eat the cost and play the Ocean Course every time...and drive 40 mins to the Charleston muni too. All of the resort neighborhood courses suck and are overpriced. That is my hot take. But...(humble brag) I go every year so maybe I'm burned out on them. If I had to play them: 1. Cougar...clubhouse and perch overlooking 18 are outstanding places to drink 2. Oak 3. Turtle 4. Osprey
Can’t stress enough how much better the Muni is than the other courses on the island besides the Ocean and the two private courses. The Muni is legitimately fantastic. If it was conditioned like a private club, it would be one of the best courses in that entire area.
This might just be compared to coming from NYC and not playing any private courses out here, but I really enjoyed Charleston National and Stono Ferry.
The Charleston public golf scene is very underwhelming. Stono is probably the best outside of the kiawah courses which are pretty meh tbh.
Does anyone else have the problem of saying this like you’re singing a Pearl Jam song? I do it every time.
Been hitting the ball real well on the range lately. Can’t wait to play like shit Saturday morning during my first round in months
