Yea I generally like the NLU guys but I think it’s because I limit my consumption. Listen to the golfer interviews and some Twitter. Don’t think I need their weekly breakdown
And you don’t get the BRENDAN! to start the pod.
The NLU putt putt tourist sauce had me rolling last night. Mostly because those dorks took their own putters and balls to play 56 holes of putt putt.
Have played with him a few times (he's a member at our club). He's a pretty legit good dude. Don't think he'd get his feelings hurt over something like that. He's having fun and found a way to make a living off of golf. Good for him.
Lol I thought the same thing
Planning a trip to Wisconsin in August. Would like to get 3-4 different courses in over a long weekend. Any courses that people would recommend aside from Erin Hills and Whistling Straits (which will probably be closed for the Ryder Cup anyhow)?
This is the feeling I get. I don’t think any of them completely lack self awareness, even if I disagree with how they position stuff at times. I respect how they’ve built something out of nothing completely focused on their main passion in life.
Just read this and thought it was amazing and hilarious.
Who lives in the killhouse? I think it's near my parents' spot in Atlantic Beach.
I was trying to decide what’s more ridiculous: that they did it or that I watched it.
I think Big Randy and Neil.
Pretty sure its Atlantic Beach but I'm not sure. Honestly, never really had much conversation with him about NLU.
I’ll gift you a pass
Yeah, I appreciate the commentary and interviews without the over-the-top grifting from other personalities / platforms that cover golf behind the scenes.
...and if you are looking at the high end Mammoth Dunes and Sand Valley are probably the two best courses in the state.
There are two other American Club courses (resort that runs Whistling Straights) called Blackwolf Run. Pete Dye courses and quite good.
Here is a breakdown of value golf in Wisconsin from Fried Egg
He got his cash by playing over in the Kingdom, he doesn't need WGC's.
Rory is the man. Says what he wants while clearly articulating his point. Doesn't come off as trying too hard to be the bad boy like Brooks, or overall try hard like Bryson
His newest interview with The Independent is as good as any.
He’s the best player in the world to watch when he’s on his game. And he’s wildly human off the course.
Were you able to read part 2?
Would be cool to see Rory dominate a major again.
Drop it into Outline.com
That site gets around quite a few paywalls
Rory is great. I’ve come around on him over the years.
tiger with the eagle on 1.
Jon rahm wearing a t shirt
No one complains when tiger does it.
That has at least some sort of a collar. This has nothing
Cause it’s Tiger.
*get a load of this guy cam*
I complain constantly when Tiger wears his mock necks
guys its just not right to have the golf attire discussion without JY here to give the absolute whitest takes imaginable
Is fashion something Jigga still cares about? Of course, it is.
I have a perfect solution to this distance report. Roll back the ball for all players, and then just install grandstands on every course so we get to play bumper bowling like the pros do
Golf channel going to PGA Tour Live fucking sucks
Is it generally thought of that on Day 2 you want to be on the early side? Or would you rather have a later tee time so you know what you need to hit to make the cut, etc? Someone on the tour I don't like and I want to get in the right hater's mindset for what to root for
Annoying answer is it really depends. A huge factor is where the tournament is and course conditions that week. Often times with The Open you’ll see guys that are late Thursday/early Friday (or vice versa) fare better because they get the better end of weather conditions (wind will be down in the morning but then a storm blows in that afternoon and crushes those guys). There’s also a priority listing of all the players and you’ll notice that the bigger name generally have the more preferential tee times.
WGC Mexico next week. Players skipping: Tiger, Brooksy, Cantlay, Rickie, Rose, J Day, and Stenson. Honda the week after will likely get the shaft again in favor of Bay Hill and then Players
Going up to NC to play midpines, the cradle and tobacco road next weekend. The weather app had the snow icon yesterday. A weekend off from the wife and kids so I don't even care.
Order placed last night.
Playing the oldest 18 hole course in Florida on Saturday, hope it’s here by then
i'm really enjoying the coverage of the final group, and Tiger, who's +5 on the day and 15 shots off the lead, missing every putt by 3 feet.
This isn't a difficult concept. Players don't make money playing golf because it's beneficial to society. Same with every other sport.
They make money because people want to watch. And the people who want to watch want to watch Tiger, whether he's shooting 65 or 75.
I haven’t seen snow in the Winston-Salem/Greensboro area all winter and that’s about 1-1.5 hours south, you’ll be good. I’m playing Tobacco Road the 29th should be mid 50s.
I have played 8-10 Pinehurst courses and Mid Pines might be my favorite. Make time to hang in the bar after the round.
Tobacco Road grows on me every time I play it. I didn’t like it at all when I first played it but now that I know the layout it’s a unique challenge. Definitely have the course loaded in whatever app you use, you have to know distances and targets to enjoy the course.
