Not sure anyone here has said they “love” Soly. He’s a very knowledgeable talking head who does a great job interviewing guests. We all know he takes his own golf a bit too serious but he can play. The other guys seem very likeable and I find it hard to believe that they would be such good friends with someone who isn’t at least passingly polite.

People shit on Soly ITT a lot, but this tweet sums up part of why I don't listen much anymore. Mostly because of Randy. He pretends to be this intellectual but most of his schtick is Skip Bayless hot takes.

Would feel dry as hell if it’s just 5 guys all going over Data Golf numbers or getting real in the weeds about golf architecture. Everybody but Soly is basically playing a bit for entertainment. I don’t think DJ Pie was actually rooting against Finau but there’s more content there to lean into it than say “you’re right Soly, he’s awesome he’s just had some bad luck” for instance
Soly seemed genuinely choked up when discussing his dad caddying. DJ was perfect with the Macklemore joke
I really only watch the videos. Dont always have time for the podcasts, so I tend to enjoy them all. But I could see how Randy would wear on people. The foreplay videos are generally fine as well, but that’s as far into the barstool world I care to go
If you have a beef with Tron and Randy, I’d point towards their NFL takes more than anything on Trap Draw.
Not to mention Tron absolutely crushes everyone else on the gambling front. It’s not even close. He is without a doubt the best analyst they have. People just don’t like his schtick and can’t see past it many times. But he is regularly more accurate with his predictions that anyone else they have, and that’s not just in the golf sphere. Big Randy shouldn’t be brought into any situations where real analysis is required. Hearing him say “I didn’t actually watch this weekend but I think XYZ…” is not good for business either way, especially as they continue to legitimize their business model. He’s great in casual discussions though.
I understand the constant need to find flaws in people when they become a bit oversaturated post run of success (I’m pretty tired of homa content personally), but I find all the NLU guys pretty harmless and mostly entertaining. Tron can go a hit far at times but otherwise they’re fine with me. Randy is just the book keeper who happens to show up on air from what I gather.
Yeah the episode following their kapalua experience was cringe, but I’d probably be extremely obnoxious in that situation.
