Depends on where you go. Places like TruSpec and Club Champion and top tier fitters are like 350-450 for the whole bag.
I myself, living in Florida with numerous outdoor options for club fitting, wouldn't go to GolfTec, but its not a bad fitting place. Where do you live? Atlanta?
https://www.golf.com/news/2019/04/24/anthony-kim-golf-game-hollywood/ Honestly forgot Anthony Kim existed
The guys I used to work with in Atlanta got fit at Golf Doctor and gave it rave reviews. It’s in Woodstock.
We had a pretty slow group of four seniors ahead of us but they let us play through at the 11th. Total time for our round was about 4 1/2 hours. I have definitely had my share of five hour rounds out there, partly due to the tight driving holes wherein a miss usually means trampling through waist high overgrowth to find the ball.
just booked a trackman gapping session at Golf doctor for Tuesday, hitting JPX850 forged dont think I need a new set but have been wanting to get on a trackman and see how bad I really am. Should be humbling
Well.. After recommending them I googled them and this is one of the first things that came up.. so just an fyi. I have heard plenty of good things but this guy had a pretty wacky experience. https://mygolffitting.wordpress.com/2014/05/30/my-golf-fitting-experience/
Thanks for posting that. I was checking them out last night and noticed they had nothing but great reviews.
What is the appeal of having some old dude hand make your clubs? I do 50-75 fittings a year, order everything through the manufacturer.
I don't really care who makes them. My wants are expert fitter/instructor, trackman, outdoor ball flight. That's not necessarily the easiest thing to find if you arent in the hot golf areas or if you aren't part of a club.
This was more of a response to that review that was posted. Whoever wrote that up wanting Wishons made out of someone's garage. Your best bet may be calling the nicer clubs in your area that you assume have a trackman and ask if they do non-member fittings. I do it a couple times a month.. just charge lesson rates. I give them in the info from the fitting and they can go purchase wherever they want.
I agree. I’ve been fit twice before once by my club pro like above and before that at a big box store. I have an infatuation with TruSpec right now and I eventually this year/next year will go get fit at the Miami Trump Doral location, but realize that’s probably overkill.
True Spec and Club Champion are great. You have limitless options and the guys know their shit. I have had some members go there and they all have been very impressed and like their clubs. I do think you get pushed a little bit to some niche things and some more expensive options than necessary, but most people getting fit there want the best and aren't on a budget.
Use eBay regardless. Plenty of new with tags Goretex stuff on there for very cheap. Otherwise any Goretex shit is going to be $300+. I bought a Kjus Pro 3L brand new with tags off there for $125 a month or so ago. Their top of the line, $500 rain jacket. Best golf jacket I’ve owned.
tremendous sequence at the Zurich with a fan screaming at the top of his lungs "GET IN THE WATER" to Billy Horschel's tee ball on a par 3 and Horschel promptly telling the fan "Hey get the fuck outta here" right on mic
Little write up on rain gear I’ve purchased... Spoiler Jackets... - Zero Restriction Stealth...great waterproofing. A little bit heavier and multi-layer (read - warmer). Decent breathability but not great. Very good range of motion but not perfect. Fits a little snug so size up, especially if you’re going to wear layers underneath. Paid full price with my home club logo. - Under Armour Tips Goretex...great waterproofing. Rubbery feeling which makes it feel a little heavier even though it’s one layer. Not very breathable. Pretty restrictive. Fits true to size. Bought off eBay for $100. - Kjus Pro 3L...awesome waterproofing. Extremely lightweight, single layer. Extremely breathable and 4 way stretch. Fits true to size with a ton of size options. Only downside is you need to layer below it when it’s cold. Bought off eBay for $125. The Kjus is my favorite by far. And because it doesn’t look or feel as much like traditional rain gear, I actually use it as a lightweight spring and fall jacket as well, even outside of golf. The Under Armour is always in my car so I’ll use it if I don’t have either of my other two on hand. Keep the Zero Restriction in my golf bag and use for cold weather golf. Pants... - Under Armour Tips Goretex...great waterproofing. Fit like a tailored pair of pants, so I don’t wear them as an outer layer over another pair of pants/shorts. If I know it’s going to rain, I’ll just wear them without pants under. Great for links golf trips because it cuts down on the amount of pants to pack. Paid full price - Sunderland Vancouver...good waterproofing. Not Kjus or Goretex good, but good enough for some Scottish golf clubs to still carry it as their waterproof of choice. More traditional, baggy rainpant fit that is meant for over normal pants/shorts. Keep these in my golf bag. $100 on their site If I had to do it all over again, I’d just get the Kjus jacket and the Sunderland pants. 99% of circumstances, those will be perfect together. I think Kjus makes hands down the best outerwear in the game these days (there’s a reason so many people wore it at Carnoustie last year). I also think their jackets can be worn off the course, which is what you want when spending hundreds on a jacket. It’s super expensive though, so look for deals on eBay. The Sunderland pants are more than adequate for anything but an absolute deluge. Those two create a top of the line rain suit for less than $300, compared to $500 for just a jacket.
I love this. Fans yelling idiotic things deserve to be chastised. Maybe wouldn't kick them out quite that aggressively but like when JT did it didn't bother me one bit
Obscure stat of the day... All 6 of my fantasy players teams made the cut at the Zurich. The cut was -7. Each of my players teams scores thru the second round are as follows...-7, -8, -9, -10, -11, and -12. Quite the anomaly! /Obscure stat of the day
They don’t deserve it, nor do they deserve blame for it. But I really think the players need to have some self awareness and not respond. There’s a reason it’s the Billy Horschel’s of the world that are starting to get it more, and not just the most popular golfers. If you respond to it, dumbass fans are more likely to go after you. Caddies need to tell their players’ that they’ll handle it.
One of the few things I liked about Stevie Williams was that he got after fans very quickly. I'll be at Bethpage for the Saturday round and am already expecting the worst
hell I just wanted to jump on the trackman to see my stats G...If I get to hit 30 balls for $150 for someone to tell me I need XYZ shaft going to cancel. Will call tomorrow and see what they say.
So Paige Spiranac is only going to play semi-competitive golf as long as she gets paid? Must be a nice gig
This is not what golf is about though. I know I’m older than most, but show some damn respect out there. This isn’t a bills game
