caddied for the symetra tour event today. Was a blast. My girl shot a +5 but she quadrupled putted one hole and was out of bounds twice. if we can knock out those errors tomorrow hopefully we can get the three strokes back we need to make the cut.
I've played some awful golf, I don't know that i've ever 5 putted.. edit: I don't know how I read quadrupled as a 5 putt..
I 5-putted in a high school golf tournament while my coach watched me. First putt was long across 2 levels with a substantial downhill slope. First putt didn't get down the slope. Second went 15 feet by. Third putt went 5 feet by, 4th putt lipped out. Quite the triple bogey.
At work BSing with a guy. Started talking about golf and it turns out he has a spot and needs a 4th in a tournament that is already paid for next week. I get to be a ringer.
I 11 putted with the hs coach watching me as well. Reached par five in two. Made a 13. Pin was placed on a severe slope to where the ball would roll 20 feet back to the fringe if you missed the putt. After the round I found out other groups played it as a two putt. I had quite the rage built up and probably hit the longest drive of my life on the following hole
Maybe I'm a bad person but as much as I've seen that kid version of rory hitting golf balls into the washing machine today, I really wouldn't mind an epic collapse and him missing the cut just so they have to abandon running those commercials non-stop.
I totally believe you were on such a tough course that the slope was so demanding for high-school kids that you were first able to reach the green in 2, but then proceed to 11 putt on Augusta's mean big brother papa Augusta greens. Even tops finds this story to be completely full of shit.
I wish it wasn't true. It was golf tryouts of all days and that hole and my proceeding reaction to it caused me to miss the team. Hole #4 at shitty Cobbs Glen. I never lived that down.
this is the best part of his post but the non locals won't catch it. Kyle is so money that a course that often hosts US Open qualifiers is too shitty for him.
Cobbs Glen hosts US Open qualifiers? I've played there all my life and that's news to me. May have explained that pin placement. The course is not nice at all
Yeah I looked it up because that amazed me to hear and it was 99. That course is complete shit. It isn't me being high brow saying that either. Worst clubhouse ever for how many rich members they have and how massive the neighborhood is. Ever want to score any drugs just hit their bar
Cobb's Glen has the best course routing in Anderson and plays at 7,200 yards from the tips. Back in the late 90's it was in great shape with bent greens. It was by far the best course in the Anderson area.
I haven't played in Anderson in like a decade so I'm not sure what would be better. Maybe Brookstone? I remember it having a nice layout when it was first built. Not sure how it's gotten as it has aged.
When Patrick was the Superintendent Brookstone was awesome. Now it is in ruins. Brookstone has bent greens as well but it's in pretty rough shape right now. They had signs on the carts claiming they were about to put a ton of work into it but I was highly disappointed. Cobbs just flat out sucks now. Old members still stick up for it but there's not a good course left in Anderson anymore. About the only thing Cobbs is good for anymore is the poker games in the clubhouse.
that's unfortunate to hear. Last i heard the country club is in bad shape as well. Anderson is big enough to have a nice course.
Shit, that happens to me every fucking time. Same hand; same finger; same place. I taped my finger with cloth tape on Friday, and was happy to see my finger still intact after the round.
Went out on the course with Jigga Jr again on the hole behind our house. Wife thought it would be good to bring the dog. Of course the dog freaks out wanting to run so I end up walking the dog. I brought 2 balls 1 for me, 1 for him and brought a SW for me to hit. She thinks it would be a good idea for her to hit a shot. She skulls a SW straight right into a canal about 40 yards away
If there is any way you have friends or family to get you on Eugene country club then make the time since that course is a hidden gem. Rated top 100 in the US. Outside of that there isn't much special down there. River ridge is probably the best bet locally.
You don't actually believe that do you? I worked course maintenance at Brookstone in hs (cut and watered greens). I play a lot of golf. Anderson does not have a nice course at the moment. I don't know where you'd even dream that I'd "make up" that the courses are in bad shape. I wish very much so that wasn't true. I don't care much for driving to Greenville or Hartwell to find a decent course. Best news I've heard in a long time is that they're building a resort on the lake with a golf course. Brookstone doesn't have sand in most of their bunkers, they're going to make them into grass bunkers but as of now it's just dirt and rocks. The course itself even other than that was in extremely rough shape sans the greens. They're still pretty good. watson the country club was one of my favorite places when I was young (and no I was not a member but went often with friends). The pool was always packed and they had some of the best food anywhere. The area really killed it when there started being other options.
Cut68 you live in the boston area right? I'll be there in September and am trying to find a nice place play. was thinking Granite Links if its impossible to get on a nice old course
I'm not positive how many times I've watched this video, but it is awesome. Has to be such an amazing feeling making this walk and hearing that (can't figure out how to embed a video from twitter) https://twitter.com/DJPie/status/597848905712332800
