He won in September of '23. Two year exemption automatic after a win. edit: Also, FedEx ranking is not the same as official money list. He's 106 on the money list.
Yep, I'm bored and did a little googling Tour card extension For many players, however, the most important thing about winning on the PGA Tour is the multi-season extension of playing privileges. A regular PGA Tour event win extends a player's Tour card for two years after the current season, meaning they don't have to make the top 125 in the FedEx Cup in those seasons to maintain full playing privileges for the following year. https://www.golfmonthly.com/tour/5-perks-of-winning-a-pga-tour-event
Michael Kim probably three-putted on purpose. He's always joking about doing it, he might've actually
Anyone buy clubs for their kids at a young age? I'm pretty underwhelmed with the offerings for my 3 year old. Sets are 200-300 bucks for 3 or 4 clubs.
I just got a toddler size driver for my 3 year old for like $30 at Dick’s and let him use it on the range when I take him. A full set seems like overkill for a kid that age.
Yeah I think the sets there were a couple hundred for 6 or so clubs. I’ll have plenty of time later to sink money into getting him into golf, don’t need to start now.
I check my play it again every week. Keep hoping something will pop up. Most of them near me have closed.
From the driver talk I have the ping 425 max. I like it but didn’t get fit for it. But I’ve been playing so many new courses with new people recently I’ve just been going 3h of the tee to make sure I’m in play. But I can play that to a TD of about 220 most days. So not too terrible of a trade off. Went to the us senior open on Wednesday and Thursday. Followed MAJ around for 18.
I have the 425Max as well and just completely lost the driver swing this year so I’ve been hitting 5 wood off the tee instead. Bought a TM Brnr mini driver and my sim testing has a much tighter dispersion but I haven’t been able to play a round with it yet.
You have to really try to be a 20 year old pro golfer and be fat especially someone not from America.
Once you figure out if your kid likes golf, get their height and go on eBay and buy the corresponding set of US Kids clubs.
This was my thought. I guess my point is used kids clubs aren't as readily available as I expected. I went play it again/ebay/market place first.
Our club just updated the handicapping of the course. Pretty interesting to see the changes. Three holes had a 10 HCP swing. I think the overall stroke index moved to .5 harder. Par 4 11 to 1 Par 5 4 to 14 Par 5 2 to 12
Played 36 Friday and Saturday. Same course for all 4 rounds. 76, 81, 85, 76 Lost the ability to hit a fairway the middle two round. Finally got it back together for the last round and it should have been a 72 or 73. Only made 1 putt outside 2 feet the whole round.
Played the best golf I’ve played yet today. Was 1 over through six with my par putt on 2 lipping out. Outside of one topped wood shot on a par 5 that I still saved par on, it was pretty much 25 ‘good’ shots in a row. No great shots in my mind but consistent good. Started getting nervous realizing I was playing over my head and the randoms with me thinking I was some amazing player. Come up to 7 which is a short par 4 with a big downhill dogleg left and I’ve been a big fader of the tee until recently. So usually have a couple options on that hole but have moved back tees and today felt like going for it. Blast a great looking draw that hooked a little too much and nailed the one branch jutting out blocking the approach. If I started it out a couple more feet to the right it was on the left side of the green/fringe with a great look at birdie if not better. Saw the ball come down but couldn’t find the it in the brush and ended up giving myself a gallery drop, punched out, and saved bogey, but it was all over from there. Was pissed I hit what felt like a good shot and got that result. Doubled 8 and 9 and said fuck it and got some beers at the turn and decided to not keep score on the back. Was at least pretty encouraging to know over the next year or so and pretty much just getting my ball striking more consistent I think I should be able to regularly break 80 at courses that are ~6500 yards. I’m never going to move back to ~7000 because that shit is ridiculous.
Good start but you had a lot of golf left. Learning to control emotions and stay focused for the duration of the round is also an important component to playing good golf. edit add: As my dad always told me... "You aren't good enough to get mad playing golf."
Frustrated for sure but def not mad. Starting at a somewhat older age where I don’t feel as much pressure to be good makes it where my game is one of the last things I get mad at out there. Biggest issue was we ran into an extremely slow and pretty annoying group of college kids ahead of us and that just made it harder to concentrate. I usually play by myself so play my best when I can get into a rhythm and go quickly. I end up bullshitting and talking too much in the 10 minutes waiting to shoot my next shot and just lose my focus. Trying to get out of that comfort zone by playing at different courses and being paired with a group so I can learn to play my game and not let those distractions get to me so much.
I’m not rooting for any white guy from South Africa until he proves to me he’s not a terrible person.
