Golf Thread 2.0 - Zach Johnson hates you and your family

Soly said Brooks and Bubba in 4 ball and Brooks and Webb in 4 somes. I think it can work but Bubba terrifies me.

 

I thought most were thinking Brooks and DJ would pair up?

 

That makes sense. I'm guessing Bubba and Phil know they're sitting out during foursomes

 

That was the talk (between them). The pods take most of the guess work out of pairings and they weren't in the same pod today.

Question in foursomes - do you alternate every shot the whole round or can the same person tee off? I assume it's every other the whole round just wanted to double check.

 

it starts on the tee - 1 guy tees off on the odd numbers and the other on the even numbers

 

If the pods are the same tomorrow, it almost guarantees those players will be paired together

 

I didn't realize they revealed the pods today. Reed with Phil? Can't seem him playing with Bryson but maybe in 4 balls.

 

I'm just going on who played practice rounds together today. I've heard a couple people say that tomorrow will tell more. They could shake them up tomorrow and solidify by Thursday's practice. Reed/Spieth being split up is surprising

 

At least now Rory can just stick to underachieving instead trying to be somebody he's not and awkwardly inciting the crowd

Can you guys give a cliff notes version of the hate for Bubba? Seems many hate him but never really seen why.

It's the internet we hate everyone and thing.

 

I know someone who played in an event with him (like a legit major) and said he couldn't be more of a piece of shit. No one likes who he bitches and chews out his caddie. Many people find his crying and over promotion of his wife and adopted son to be very fake.

 

Think he meant three shots a side.

 

Yea I’ve heard tourney people say Bubba was a fuck face. I think I just hate him bc his personality sucks.

 

Turning point for me was a tournament several years ago, can't recall which one off hand. Bubba was coming down the stretch on Sunday and chunked one off the tee on a par 3 over water, then ripped into Ted for the remaining holes putting all the blame on him. Said stuff like "there's no way that was the right club" and "what was the point of you even showing up today?" His incessant whining every tournament keeps him in the hate territory

 

Plus he’s too skinny. Can’t trust a guy that is that tall and that skinny

Teaming Reed with Tiger is about the only way to make me want to root for him.

 

I mean, I root for America but not specifically him. I also think that nickname is stupid.

I think it was NLU that said that this year is actually Speiths best year ball striking it's just his putting has fallen off. If that's the case I'm not overly worried about him in 4 some. The biggest thing there is to keep the ball in play

Shot another 79 today at my home course. Played the white tees for the first time this year (5,700), so definitely shorter. 70% of the time I played from the Blue tees (6,350) with 30% of the time playing from the Gold tips (7'100). It was windy out, and I just wanted to see how the course played from White tee boxes. Made 2 of the par 5's very reachable in two, had two tap in birdies on these holes with 3 overall.

Clean up a couple doubles and it could have been an even better round. Trying to get a few more rounds in for the year before the really cold weather comes.
