Fucked the post up. Zack Zedalis cussed out a 75 year old guy his age on the 11th green though and it was glorious.
First time I played Tobacco Road it ate my lunch. It's visually intimidating and I hit driver on every hole, tried to drive whatever greens were possible and went for all the par 5's. Second time around I played conservative and shot under par. Very fun course.
I played Tobacco in 2013. Only hit driver a couple of times, the rest were 3/4 irons--Shot a 73 and had a fantastic time. Most of the hazards serve as illusions. It's nothing more than target golf.
On another note, shot a 74 at Cypresswood (Tradition Course) in Houston last weekend in a tournament. My driver was on fire, hit 12/14 fairways. At the turn I was -2, but drank 5 beers on the back 9 (due to excessive heat) and shot +4. I haven't shot under par in over a year, but feel like I'm on the verge.
Shot an 89 today. Had two triples, one on the front and one on the back. Chipped in for a birdie though, that was fun. Maybe I've finally turned the corner and I'll stay in the 80s now!
Shot a 110 today Only positive: I drove the green on a 310 par 4. Left myself 30 ft for eagle I hit the right speed just right two cups. Tapped in birdie. I hate this game.
Played terrible yesterday, but I think I hit the longest drive of my life on 18. Par 4 340 and I'm sitting about 10 feet off the front edge. Of course I promptly chipped it 30 feet past the hole and 3 putted for bogey... but who gives a shit. The drive was sweet.
What are you trying to say? P.S this was my first time playing in about 4 months without any back pain. So I was quite rusty. I'm usually in the 95 range.
Fired a 74 yesterday morning. Made 3 birdies in a row on the front but couldn't get it going on the back. Love the G30 driver and 3wood.
With a win I think I'd rate Spieth's year over 2000 Tiger. Competition is so much stronger and he's gonna beat Tiger's scores. Although the clinic at Pebble was all time great. Just can't get over how much tougher top to bottom these major fields are only 15 year later.
I don't know. Tiger also won six other events that year. He won 9 of the 20 events he entered that season, never missed a cut and never finished outside the top 25. I think Jordan's having a phenomenal year, and if he wins today, it will be the second greatest season of the modern era. But I don't think it quite tops Tiger's 2000.
Meant just majors but with a win that gives Jordan how many in the wraparound season? Plus he still has the playoffs.
It would definitely be close. A win today would give Jordan 6 on the year including the wraparound. Tiger's domination in the US and British Opens that year were otherworldly. Spieth had a similar tournament at the Masters. Just don't know that he's beenquite as dominant, although I agree the talent is stronger now.
If he wins today and then caps it with a fedex cup win, then Spieth takes the prize without question IMO.
Tiger won like 9 out of the 20 tournaments he played and 6 times in a row in 2000. Speiths season won't be, as a whole, as good as Tigers 2000 IMO, but who knows with this kid
love spieth, but this isn't on 2000 tiger level unless he wins today and the wins 2-3 of the playoff wins too (which certainly isn't out of the question)
Anyone ever try looking at the hole when they putt on the short ones? Seems like a bad idea if you're a poor putter, but if you have a good stroke it might be a good thing. Think I'll try it next time I'm out.
I tried practicing like that on putts <4ft. It does help with speed. I found that I was pulling a lot of my putts though because when I turned my head, I'd end up turning my shoulders a bit as well.
Played nine today. I'm not good and usually shoot 100+. I was a combined 6 over on 7 holes. Unfortunately, I was a combined 7 over on the other two.
Eliminating those blowup holes is a big key to improving your score(obviously). Turn those triples and quads into bogeys and even the occasional double and you'll be breaking 100 easy.
Yeah. I went bogey bogey bogey then should've gotten a par on 4, but I three putted for another bogey. I promptly hit my next tee shot OB.
Here are two swings and what I'm trying to work on. Standing taller and closer to the ball at address. My big issue is still dropping my head and left shoulder towards the ball, causing me to bail out or flip the club to save myself. Can't seem to shake that diving move. Also, I have no idea what's going on at the top of my backswing. It feels like I'm in a good position, but I have no wrist set at all. Today: 4 months ago:
Mentioned how I've been playing the white tees to make more birdies. I have a qualifier Tuesday so after the PGA I went and played the tips to just hit some longer shots. Had to skip a par 5 and par 3 to get around a couple groups. 16 holes (course is a 76 rating) 7 birdies 2 bogeys Drove it great. Tightened up my backswing by keeping a little more pressure on the inside of my right foot and really focusing on taking the hands/wrists out of my takeaway.
maybe the simplest problem fix in my golfing career yesterday. played with one of our partners and his dad at their CC - Onion Creek pretty standard start to my day driving. Hook the dog shit out of the first 3. Partner says my club face has got to be closed at impact for it to have the ball flight (starts out right on a good line with a draw then takes a sick left turn around 150 yards out). Told me to open the face up a hair at address. I was hungover as shit and angry and said whatever I just need to swing easier. around hole 14 nothing had changed. His dad kindly steps up to me before I get out of the cart on the tee box "Son, open your club face a little at address. Just do it" 3/3 on fairways to finish the day all beautiful draws #blessed
Simple ball flight rules for swing fixes. -The direction your ball starts is your swing path (from the inside ball blocks out right, over the top it pulls left) -Curvature of the shot is the difference between your face angle and swing path. Bigger the difference the more it curves. Even if your swing path is too far in or out, you can hit decent shots if your club face angle matches it.
I feel like I know what my problem is but fixing it has always been problematic. Mainly because what I feel is right isn't always right, and I don't film myself or have a coach watching me all the time.
If you have no idea what the right swing path is supposed to feel like, trying to make any adjustments on your own is infuriating and/or impossible.
Learning the game, I just hit bucket after bucket until I could get the ball to go where I wanted. Hence, my very unorthodox move.
